Agreed. Or are Americans and have no clue what extreme left looks like / thinks it only applies to certain social issues

Bad take my guy. Always good to see both sides. I recently checked out right wing news on the medical insurance ceo story. The right wing pundits were desperately trying to make it a “look how evil the left are” issue for laughing / not having sympathy. The comments though - did not agree. Lots of followers of the likes of Walsh and Shapiro saying “might as well call us leftists then” Some issues cross the left-right spectrum. And as a true leftist who should be aware of class struggle being THE…

Might be because they were taught equality and as you say, can quite clearly see that what is going on is not equality. But they are being gaslit by everyone. It must be so obvious in places like America where college is so expensive and the scholarships are so imbalanced. And in early years job market / trying to secure first jobs

You can make the same point about Antifa. Being anti fascist - I’d like to think that is normal. Being in a group that wears masks, all black and gets into physical confrontations some of which they seem to seek out? That’s a bit more than “normal”

Remember the OP is likely American and their left right spectrum is all out of whack compared to continental Europe. Economic socialism is basically an anathema to most Americans unless it is to bail out the super wealthy. Legacy of the Cold War to treat it almost as a swear word They don’t really have a true left wing party - at least from an economic sense. Democrats are more aligned with the U.K. Tories than U.K. Labour traditionally. Perhaps not anymore as U.K. Labour have had to tack hard t…

There are leftists and liberals when you listen to the “online left”. But the dividing line is not economic and social. It’s how far on both sides. Both seem pretty all in on the culture/social stuff though. With “liberals” being more to the centre (or centre right in the case of US Democrats) on the economy (support for big business, lobbyists, huge corporate donations for medical insurance companies etc) and arguably only being “left” on social issues as a virtual signal to try and win votes w…

I posted something similar on a different sub on an alternative account (about moms being worried about their sons). I cited middle aged women I work with who have sort of let it slip even among the IDE atmosphere we have. I was mocked and downvoted for such a suggestion because of course I was. The notion that men / boys might not be in a privileged position is laughable to many people (especially on Reddit)

It seems like many on the left view things like this as some kind of zero sum game. To benefit one group must mean another group loses. Which seems antithetical to what the left should be all about. At least to me

The not having to aggressively compete with each other really resonated with me. I deeply wish this were true but as you mention it very much is the complete opposite. Or at least seems to be

One explanation seems to be the oppressed vs oppressor narrative that is a big deal on the left in the US.

“Adjusted for population growth” - this is utterly irrelevant “Small c conservative vote was split between Tories and reform” - this is wrong. It was split between Tories, reform, Lib Dem’s and Labour. And Reform likely didn’t capture much of the “small c” part anyway Apathy on all sides - correct. But partly due to the result being pretty much a forgone conclusion

It’s been pretty obvious some of the more extreme people on this side of things have been like this for a long time. Spend any time reading Two X in recent years and it’s pretty shocking. I hate to think what it is like at the moment

I wonder if they will be mocked in quite the same way as incels are. Because that is basically what they are suggesting they become. Obviously not exactly the same but the same level of extremism if not more.

Remember that the average woman has no idea of the life experience of an average man. They project apex fallacies all the time. Just recently I had a relatively heated discussion with a woman friend who was insisting that the majority of people (men and women) are out there having loads of sex with many different people. That the majority of people are heavily involved in the dating game and dating lots of different people constantly throughout any given year. This seems mostly based on her and …

I don’t think any of these things specifically push men to the republicans since all these things seem to happen all over the US - regardless of the colour of the ruling party in the area And the republicans didn’t seem to campaign on this

Some are really getting silly about it. I have a friend in the UK who is bisexual and has basically posted to suggest she is now just going to go full lesbian due to the result and aftermath. Despite being in a different country - one that voted in an ostensibly centre left government So she’s decided to full on blame men and then also take it out on men from another country. And she won’t be the only one with an over the top reaction like this
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 10:39 PM

My attempted cope is to hope other countries learn from this both on men’s issues and the issues of ordinary people in general
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 10:35 PM

I know you joke. Issue from the left is that large numbers of the demographics they actually did try to appeal to got turned off. Whether that was due to the overriding stance towards men that actually some women didn’t even like - I doubt it but could be a small part of it Mostly it’s probably just the massive post covid inflation that wasn’t really the fault of the democrats (happened in every country and worse in some than the US - like the U.K. with a right wing government). So either that g…

This seems to be the general gist of the comments/replies to videos with women making these “threats”. They are basically telling loads of men that they aren’t going to treat them any differently. Not exactly a threat

I don’t really know what qualified as a landslide in US politics but I don’t think this is it. But winning all swing states without any really being close and increasing leads in states dems were secretly hoping to try and win is probably the modern equivalent as we will never get a true landslide again due to polarisation Trump will call it one regardless
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 10:28 PM

Interestingly the BBC ran a piece one women not turning out in the numbers or the way the democrats hoped or expected. But the American left wing commentariat doesn’t seem to have got there or isn’t allowed to

Yeah that’s a pretty wild responses from them. Men just wanted to be treated like the other groups. And if that means swaddling then “yes”

Since the election there have been loads of women freaking out and saying things about joining the 4B movement and denying men sex as a result Loads of the comments are basically saying “denying someone something that was never on offer in the first place is not really going to work”. And it’s a good point. And if by some chance there is a small group of men who might not have been denied but don’t quite qualify for the women to break all their rules then you are pushing them away. No one is say…

Women I know in their 30s were gushing about the movie and saying about “finally we have a movie that speaks to us”. You can tell their favourite part was the illogical and lie filled rant from the character who owned the Barbie’s. The clear propoganda peak of the film that isn’t even really true and most of the points in it that women bristle against are inspired upon them by other women/feminism. And older women I know who watched it kind of rolled their eyes at all the preachiness
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 12:12 PM

That’s not how people who make statements like that think. You’ve got the oppressed and oppressor wrong in your analogy. If you said an ethnic person in a room full of white people would be terrified then these sorts of people would nod and agree and say “they should be” or “it makes sense”. But your example would be considered ridiculous and the blame would be placed on the white person feeling terrified Just like if we took the original quote and said “if a man was in a room full of women he’d…

The term seems to have morphed and many people who use it consider it as a mindset. It seems to now largely just be another term for “misogynist” (but with bits of loner/loser mixed in). I heard Vaush sort of describing the 14 year old shooter in Georgia as an incel and pushing back when people challenged him because of the age of the person and suggesting the term wasn’t right But in that context it’s just a shaming word. It is a term people can’t embrace and will try to challenge or deny. Sort…

This seems to be true - or at least it is online. Saw some posts on a different sub where a guy was lamenting being ghosted. When men are ghosted the women are usually excused because apparently the women are afraid that the man will get violent when rejected When women are ghosted it’s always about how the guy is the problem and clearly not worth it etc (caveat: on the actually ghosting subreddit this latter view is more universally applied. I’ve only recently started listening to him because I heard bad things. Mainly his commentary on the upheaval in the US Presidential race since Biden dropped out. He seems to call out his chat quite a lot so I guess he is aware of his fans. I liked when he schooled one of them for trying to get to “ideological purist” with him over Marxist theory when they asked what the minimum they had to read was and he told them not to bother and go and volunteer to help people instead

The spectre of Trump just allows them to run on “save democracy” and “anti Trump”. As well as the Roe thing. And it might work this time (and hopefully will). But if it does then i can’t see it working next time if things carry on. Unless the Republicans refuse to moderate. Depends on how the election goes as a whole

And note that the names called out are often radically different people. You almost couldn’t get two different people to Tate and Peterson. But without fail they are used by those on the left clutching their pearls in the SAME sentence. Like clockwork

That’s what makes the whole situation even more frustrating. Conservatives will push men into traditional roles that really aren’t always in their best interests. Best interests of the state - working them into the ground mainly Doesn’t the red pill talk about how they don’t really recruit. In a jokey way. Men are pushed there. Often harshly. It seems like they don’t date because all these discussion topics scare them off. I mean there are loads of things where if you discussed in detail in advance and hyper focused on how things could go wrong then you’d never do it. Driving for example. But it’s not just Gen Z that doesn’t date. Up to my generation seems bad at it as we would have first grown up without proper social media and then it exploded and changed the rules and people don’t understand and most are just winging it

I don’t think that one is that new. Isn’t the feminist argument more about how lots of feminists seem to use a “cosmic balance” theory. As in - “we’ve been oppressed for so long that it needs to be unequal in our favour for hundreds of years to make it right” So not interest in actual equality. I was going to say that if the bar war truly that low (same with all the women talking about just wanting the “bare minimum”) then every single guy I know would have someone. But we know that isn’t the bar But also “well being” and “sanity” can actually be used vaguely and nebulously so that any form of stress or difficulty is suddenly not delivering that. I had pretty much this exact dispute with someone on a different sub who was claiming that even in “at will” states the rates of people being fired are similar to countries without those laws. It always makes me laugh seeing figures from the left or even the centre and centre right waiving their hands and expressing bafflement in asking “why are so many young men attracted to Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson? Which is the “man vs bear” thing again. It will never cease to amaze me how the women who chose bear (even if only for show) either didn’t know or didn’t care how deeply insulting that whole thing was for the majority of men Indeed they doubled down “if you don’t understand why then you are reason why” and variations of that I’m actually struggling to think of an equivalent for women that would be just as insulting to them A potential one is assuming all women just want to take all your money an…

Second paragraph is an interesting take that is never really considered before The wildest part of the “rape culture” narrative to me is always the part about “we need to educate men”. As if that isn’t already a thing. Indeed some have it so twisted that they even try and claim that men are educated to believe the opposite - that it’s fine and there are no consequences. OP could mean anything as “culture war” is broad. It could be simply about pop culture situations like backlashes against media that’s considered to push too much of an agenda. Or it could be in a more political sense (since they mentioned Bush Jr) where the ball was massively dropped in America to even let Trump in the door. And that it’s even close let alone that he is favourite to win is crazy and arguably negligent given where the worldwide centre left was in the early 2010s. Should have bee…

Because in the minds of most people (especially the left) the issue is about “discriminate minority”. Men do not meet this but trans people do. And this is correct. But being increasingly discriminated against doesn’t mean that it the other group isn’t and there isn’t a potential parallel

I really wonder if it is wilful ignorance at this point. I’ve tangentially brought up some issue discussed on here with a very lefty feminist friend. And it’s like it flipped a switch with her. The first one is also intriguing- they played silly beggars with the definitions and threw in “systematic” to make it not apply to women. It’s deliberate and part of what men are getting sick of. Being tarred with the same brush. Blamed for the crimes and bad points of a small portion of men. And this way of thinking is the only way the woman’s perspective on man vs bear can even begin to make sense. And it sets up the “not all men” response that women scream down and dismiss It’s really bizarre though because when women have a problem it’s a societal issue (collective). Especially if you happen to be like me and work where I use Microsoft teams so see a little version of myself far more than I ever used to and far too frequently. Easy to dwell on that way Most others don’t focus too much. I’ve even had people not really notice and seem genuinely surprised when I discuss losing my hair and considering shaving it all

The worst part about balding is being in the phase in the middle where it’s starting to look terrible but it is still too much effort to shave it all off. Even ignoring the concern as to what you’d look like after doing that I always used to wonder why more people didn’t just “give up” and shave it all off until it started to happen to me Hope you are ok though. There are loads of balding people out there - something I’ve also become more keenly aware of

Never heard anything in the media about Putin’s genitals. His height sure. But in his case that almost makes him scarier. To rise to the level he did without the inherent respect you get for being tall. Small man syndrome seems to overwhelmingly be used by women as a way of justifying their “preferences”. Mostly in romance/dating but also the unconscious respect point already mentioned. You could use a simpler example when it comes to women - just appearance. Imagine trying to claim an ugly woma…

Where have you noticed this ? Because I haven’t. It’s a common attack line against the U.K. Prime Minister and was even used this week. Don’t get me wrong - I can’t stand the guy. But it infuriates me how many left leaning commentators will jump to his height rather than his general incompetence and awfulness. It’s almost as if just mentioning the height it enough for people to automatically assume lack of competence among other things

You have it the wrong way round. That said - I very rarely see anyone make the argument that they become a trans-woman due to the way society treats men. It might be coming but I’m not sure. There is a small bit out there about “trans maxing” if you are an unattractive guy to try and get a relationship. But that seems really niche The stats suggest the big increase is the rate of girls transitioning to trans men. I have definitely seen arguments about how lots of the radfem rhetoric about the pa…

Why do they never talk this way about deaths of men? Is this the privilege I often hear mentioned? Is the idea that men are supposed to be more likely to stop violence from another man so … tough luck? I don’t know about anyone else but if crimes against my group were the one prioritised and magnified despite being a significantly lower proportion then I’d wonder if maybe I was in the privileged group

It’s a good thing that the original post said nothing about men having it harder then isn’t it? It didn’t mention women at all. Because this is a sub advocating for men. Because most subs don’t allow that You aren’t wrong. It is brutal for everyone. But that wasn’t the point or the topic. Post: “Thing’s suck for average men” Reply: “But what about the women!” - such a thing is not going to go down well on this sub for what should be incredibly obvious reasons. It shouldn’t need to be explained

Have a look at the name of the subreddit before asking really silly questions. Also - point out where the original post says men have it “harder”. It doesn’t. The comment was downvoted because it went against the sub - it ignored an attempt to advocate for men completely and dishonestly misrepresented the original post. A double whammy really

2010 was tail end of the financial crisis which we were recovering from when the Conservative government introduced austerity and slashed all our public services to the bone and have carried on doing it It’s just made lives harder. The U.K. economy has not grown since 2010. It’s odd that it manifests in people becoming more conservative but I really don’t think it means “support for the right or centre right party”. Being definitively 2 years behind is a big deal. They probably also have to hear all about feminism and the patriarchy whilst being the ones to do mandatory military service rather than build a career. Whilst watching famous men get exemptions. It is a far starker hypocrisy than any of the examples often discussed in the west. I just take “downvotes for disagreeing” as being outraged on Reddit. But I gather from reading part of your reply that I am wrong there and I apologise. I’m not sure I really agree with / follow the reasoning all the way to the end. It explains that the increased services and laws to support female victims give them more ways out than killing a male partner. Thus reducing those rates But it tries to suggest that you can reverse this and therefore more support for male victims would reduce female victims. Implying that abused men see violence against a female partner as the only way out. I don’t really think that’s the standard pattern of male on…

The poster is basing it off of personal anecdotes where her uncle said he wouldn’t help a random woman being attacked on the street. Claims to have been protected by gay friends and that if you were in the trouble the order of help that a woman should go for is: A woman An obviously queer person Straight man if no other options This is a truly wild take But there is a lot to unpack in all of this. Shortly below this post in my feed is on from Two X where is it asking the women their if a straight man has ever protected any of them (don’t know why they needed to specify straight). Are they telling on themselves by suggesting they have the emotional range and thinking capacity of a cat? It is reasonable for a cat or other animal to associate past abuse from men with “all men”. This is not rational behaviour for humans because it’s not true for starters and it’s half the population. Basically would make you afraid to go outside And let’s get right here - that cat is afraid. No - it was about gender obligations. In this case that even the mainstream media pushes that men have certain obligations dating - even in a world with equal pay for women. The interview part was what the “dating expert” on the Fox News clip said. Basically you have to pay because we are interviewing you and not paying means you fail the interview Not that you have to pay to apply. But there might even be some where even that caveat doesn’t apply They might even go further and point to women who get into relationships with men who they consider well beneath them. I recently heard a woman claim that she knew many very accomplished women who had it altogether and were “on it” and she was shocked when she met their (in her eyes) far in…

It doesn’t work. This line of thinking mainly comes from those calling for correcting historic wrongs to people of colour. Reparations etc But anyone who is hell bent (whether they consciously know it or not) on punishing someone now for the crimes of people who looked like them years ago (I specifically did not say ancestors) is not someone who can really be reasoned with

By addressing I assume you mean “talking about”. Because said inequality will never be addressed in terms of being resolved/fixed without unreasonable measures that no sensible person would propose

I have had otherwise reasonable women say to my face “to be honest I don’t care about the male perspective on x, y or z at all” Had to really stop my jaw from dropping It comes from this more modern stance of not looking for equality now but looking for some kind of “cosmic balance” equality. And it applies to everything. So if historically women’s perspectives were never heard and men’s were it needs to be completely reversed and men’s perspectives need to be completely removed / silenced. Beca…

At the start yes. But it has cascaded and I think lots are using those lenses now. Have seen evidence of it

This is the thing though. When a certain (loud) group of feminists are critical of men and the patriarchy (and this also extends to women complaining about men in the dating sphere as well) - they are always thinking about the same type of man. Attractive, tall, (usually) white, Ivy League / top tier education, rich family background, extremely lucrative job, (likely) in a management role. Or in the case of the frat boys - well on their way there The average man you meet on the street is not con…

Just imagine flipping the logic used their by that male feminist and suggesting it is what women should do. The shrieking would be astonishing. It would be a lot of talk about how they shouldn’t need to work for the bare minimum etc And dare try to even imply something along the lines of “choose better men”.

Seems statistically unlikely for multiple cases in the early 2000s (she suggested it happened more than once). But I don’t know the full details other than they met “online” Even then she seemed to have a bizarrely high success rate with online dating - and this was at a time when it wasn’t the done thing. In the early 2000s it would have been very negatively looked upon (which, granted, might explain a disproportionate volume of bi people)

Didn’t this happen in the Norah Vincent documentary? She told some of the women she tried to date she was really a woman and some still wanted to pursue a sexual relationship with her despite thinking she was male originally ?

And yet it seems to be women who are obsessed with true crime / serial killer documentaries and podcasts

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
