I’d invite you to ask women from the 40’s-60’s what their experiences were like before painting that era as a universal utopia. One of my grandmothers was widowed in her 40’s due to her husband’s alcoholism and the other suffered decades of abuse. Both warned me against marriage, especially before earning a degree and good career. There are few things more dangerous in life than putting your entire survival on whether or not a man still loves you / stays alive / doesn’t abuse you tomorrow.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
