This is simply how it is. Don’t let people who see you like this string you along. Sounds like you did the right thing.

If the sex is bad because of somebodies insecurities or physical limitations, but the affection and desire to satisfy their partner is there then I think it’s fine. If it’s bad because they are not affectionate or they don’t care if you enjoy it, then drop them. Unless cold and selfish people are your fetish of course.

Yikes, Fair point. I was speaking from the perspective of someone who is quite bland, politically. I don’t mean to encourage dating nut-jobs like that, or tolerating their company.

There’s caring about politics, then there’s being unable to shut up about it to the detriment of other avenues of conversation. Also, people who can’t discuss their lefty political beliefs calmly and with humility, or people who are constantly ready to launch into a Fox-news-esque tirade, come across annoying and predictable.

Absolutely. As with any effort that makes your partner happy. Charisma and charm go a really long way. So long as it is not packaged with the inability to be serious or vulnerable, then it’s a lovely trait!

Casual friends who help each other out, give advice or associate during a particular activity? Sure. Borderline codependent best buddies, where neither are unattractive? Probably not. If I was a woman and my boyfriend was constantly distracted with another woman I would be concerned. As a man, if I’m with a woman who seems only to be able to befriend men I am also concerned. I would be especially cautious if their friendship is young, e.g sub 3 years.

Perhaps I’m a bit hyperbolic to assume they’re gobby bums with next to no marketable skills, since I’ve never actually met one. Still, that value system difference is why I’m asking “what kind of woman”.

What kind of women does it take to even resort to sex work. I would assume their only other options would be stacking shelves at Walmart or they have a messed up relationship with sex and money. Either way it’s not exactly prime relationship material is it?

How does it take its toll on men? I feel the effect on women is much more discussed

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
