Love her comment about coming out of the womb with a spatula! It reminds me of a conversation I had with a complementarian "I'm not a feminist" friend of mine who once tied to tell me women and men are gifted differently - for example women have the 'gift of hosting' and men have the gift of I don't even know, leadership? My reaction (although I didn't actually say it to her face) was that I'm pretty sure I didn't come out of the womb with the f*cking Toll House cookie recipe written on my labia…

I have struggled with this in a few different friendships. I used to try to get them to see that the guy was trash, but it honestly just ruined one of my friendships. I realized that I felt two separate issues: one is disappointment that they aren't the woman I thought they were and the other is the desire for their own well-being. For the first one, I think it really depends on the person. I have one friend I basically parted ways with because the disappointment was too bitter for me, but then …

As an abuse survivor myself, I understand the place you are in. I was once there as well. I certainly didn't mean to shame you , but rather to encourage you that other people like myself have a different view and experience than you expressed in your post. Also, just to clarify - I never suggested you should think the best of people. I think it's entirely possible to believe in people's ability to change and hold a healthy defensive/self-protective attitude, including setting a no tolerance rule…

I am not sure I would be so bleak. I have seen therapy help men change and I believe anyone motivated to change is capable of it. I think there is a lot of complexity in this topic, including the barriers men face in accessing therapy well (due to toxic masculinity, etc). One of the trickiest things when discussing mental and emotional well-being is holding both empathy and accountability. A good therapist develops a trusting relationship, provides unconditional positive regard (this itself is a…

That would be a no for me. If he is ok consuming women then that's simply an automatic no.

I would be very wary of painting all men on the spectrum with a single brush. 2 out of the 3 autistic men I know are HVM. In fact, I would say their autism has been a protective factor against toxic masculine programming from our culture because they haven't felt the need to belong to any particular group and just sort of do their own thing. But, they are older than uni students. It may be that the younger ones have been infected by incel and porn culture even worse than my generation. Anyway, n…

As someone who just got an IUD two days ago, I am laughing loudly and extendedly at this.

I have always wondered this! I had an ex (turned out later he was a porn addict and I was too innocent to know) who always tried to stick his fingers in my mouth and expected it to do something for me, and I was always just confused and weirded out. But that basically describes my whole experience with him, so there ya go.

I think it really depends on where in the world you are comparing them to. I dated a South Korean man in South Korea and I Northern Irish guy in Northern Ireland. The South Korean guy was abusive and I would expect that kind of bs from most men from cultures heavily influenced by Confucian philosophy. Did you know Confucius didn't believe in women having names? Or speaking to men? Or going outside the home without head coverings? South Korea is about 50 years behind the US in the area of gender …

You are telling my story! I am in the process of figuring out what is ok and what isn't. What is me being triggered and what is an inappropriate expression/red flag? That's why I was hoping to hear from others about this issue.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
