As other said, dating apps. Dating apps are complex (ish). A lot of comes down to the immediate one-second pause. People can swipe so fast, you literally have just one second to grab a person's attention. If you find yourself thinking your "initial reaction" is boring, so will other people. Find something that gets them to pause for one second. Just get that pause before the swipe so they'll "swipe up" instead of left.

Yourself. Simple as that. Women see personality over physical appearance. Men see physical appearance over personality. The secret is: you — self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-appreciation. It’s you: how you subconsciously view yourself. PS: be careful, there is a very fine and strong line between cockiness and self-confidence.

My problem is that I can’t help but feel that these relationships died due to me not being “attractive enough”. [...] felt as though my partners stuck with me because of all the stuff I listed above No way somebody that doesn't find you "attractive enough" is going to stick with you for 6 years unless they are using you. I would say I’m confident, funny, witty and fun to be around. Great. Keep that up! Psst ... especially "I’m confident" - you seem to be wavering a bit! The two most serious ones…

Wasted $100 on drinks though which sucks. I wouldn't call this wasted. I'm sure you enjoyed the drinks, and you got to see her underlining character. I call this a $100 dodged bullet.

It becomes easier when you become easier on yourself. It takes experience, time, and self-improvement to become easier on yourself. For some ... for many, including myself ... that doesn't happen until our 30s. (hooked up with her only because i was tired of being a virgin) Go easy on yourself. Dating is easy when you stop caring about the outcome of your dates -- they become something to meet interesting people instead of an intent to find "the one." It boils down to not being concerned with th…

How to I bring this up in a way that won’t blow up in my face? It makes me look bad when my GF is actin’ a fool on social media. Lol. You don't. This is your problem. Is she ignoring you? Are you not feeling like she's involved in the relationship? If it's not directly affecting your relationship, then leave it alone. There's nothing wrong. You are annoyed by it, but that's your trigger and not a real problem.

Yeah, well I'm pretty sure neither me nor OP will want to wait half a decade to just to do what most other people are doing (dating, marriage, casual, etc). I didn't "wait" -- I wasn't ready. My confidence was shot. I was unhappy with my body, with my life, and I was lonely, "desperate" for a girlfriend. I tried and failed, a lot. Exactly the same boat you two are in. I thought if I could just get a girlfriend, I would be happy ... Nope! if I had to bite the bullet and just go to the gym and wor…

So you did end up similarly (giving up on dating) I did, multiple times. I didn't have confidence in myself, and it never worked out. I was most definitely very low in self-confidence back then. Are you a guy or a girl? I'm a guy. And how old were you when you started dating again? My last "start-up" wasn't until I was 34, when I moved to SF area. Part of the reason was environment (area). I was in Dallas, dating women, and ... honestly .. wasn't happy. When I had my "first girlfriend", at 32, i…

And you don't think that initial self confidence will diminish after time of constant failure? I do not think so. Those who are truly understanding of themselves will use failures as a learning lesson and grow from it. If you're in a state of constant, "perpetual" failure, then your problem isn't "them." Simple as that. I used to be desperate like that, back pre-30. I just resolved myself to computers, gaming, etc. I tried the "club" thing, but never fit me. I never had success with dates (women…

This spiral will not stop until he finds success, because he's attributing his success with women as how much of a "man" he is or at least it is part of it (if not a big part of it) I think. Think about what you just said here. He's judging "how much of a 'man' he is" based on his lack of success with women. That's exactly what's wrong here. He's being hard on himself, i.e. lack of self-confidence and self-compassion. Stop using external factors as an attribute as how much of an "x" you are. Eve…

Maybe he did "love himself" before realizing that he can't get a girlfriend. OP immediately put himself into the "Victim" role with this post. You can rest assured this isn't the case. And all of the trial and error and loneliness has now begun to get to him. Unfortunately this is just a rinse and repeat process of going down a dark spiral. And this is my point of everything: if you stop caring about trying to get a girlfriend, none of this will matter. What you said, by definition, is someone t…

And how come they don't have this "intuition" to pick up on whether a guy is a wife beater or not? Honest question btw Emotional attachment, "I can fix him." Or "He's troubled; he needs my help." It's quite common. There is a reason, and it's always in the role of the "Rescuer." So what do you propose then that OP just stops caring? I propose OP to stop caring about his roommate. Yes. He's clearly too attached to feeling lonely. A few suggestions here were good: start joking about it, make some …

Oh, trust me. People can tell when you come off too strong, too dependent on the outcome. I come across this all the freaking time. It's so bloody annoying. Yes, people have an innate ability to pick up on subtle things from the other person. We call that "intuition." Women are more keen to this than men. He clearly comes across as desperate just in his replies! I can't imaging how he acts in real life on dates he's interested in. What happened to "fake it until you make it", or is that also bs …

Want the reality? Yes. His dating profiles will look less like he’s trying too much, he’ll become more confident in himself and being single (for now), and his dates will go smoother. All these are subtle things the other party picks up on, but can’t quite put their finger on why they’re not interested. When you have the confidence in yourself to stop caring whether you’ll catch or lose this date, the other person will just naturally gravitate towards you.

It's the sheer idea you felt you had to defend your hetero-sexuality instead of laughing at the clear joke. 🤣

Honestly, I think it varies on context. About them / something: if you are not "fuck yes", then there's a reason. Ask yourself why. About me: anything that's not a "No" is "I can be convinced" or a "fuck yes." From them: it's safe to say if it's not a "fuck yes", it's a "No!" There is a reason why they're wavering. Don't push for a yes, but it is okay to ask out of curiosity, not to try a convince them.

... I wish I got this advice last year. Too late now. He (my venus) has left me. I sign the final papers in a couple days. :/ While I know I'm not entirely responsible for this, I feel guilt for not recognizing "the signals" until he was already withdrawn. I wasn't unhappy - I was still very happy, honestly, until the final "waterfall" - when I finally realized he already left "us" and I had no clue. Follow this advice. Hopefully it won't be too late for you. If she says she feels unsatisfied, t…

Even when they meet a “good guy” there is always that sense of curiosity that the next guy might be a little better. As a guy who dates (dated) men. I found if I had this sense, they weren't the keeper. I literally fell into this idea when dating women back before I came out (even to myself). I didn't want to commit to her because I had dates with other women already lined up, and "wasn't sure" and "what if?" seeded my doubts. When I started dating men, I dated more men than I ever did women. Ye…

Say hello to my boy (my dog whom I always refer to as my boy). He's a massive beast, and girls (and guys) dig dogs.

"Where are you from?" is always a long winded answer from me... Born in Louisiana, moved out at 3mnths. Lived in Guam, Japan, German, moved state-side to Colorado. Been to New Zealand, visited Costa Rica. Moved to Dallas, then St. Thomas. And now, finally here (Sunnyvale, CA). I'm not from any one place. So, I can never answer that question with a straight answer. Sometimes, I actually just answer as "not any one place."

This is one of those instances where "that" is unnecessary and actually softens the impact of the message. I'd suggest remove "that."
