I might be wrong, but I think you're coming from the standpoint that equality means taking the good and the bad (equal pay but also having to sign up for selective service, for example), which is a one that I completely agree with. I'm just saying that equality doesn't mean that everyone should treat each other equally bad. Rather than bringing the female gender down to facing the same harassment, shouldn't we try to raise the male gender up so that everyone gets the same amount of respect? Shou…

Why were a lot (I won't say most, because many things were invented by women) of inventions made by men? Because until the last 50 years or so, women weren't allowed into the fields which allowed such things be accomplished. Why do men go to war? If you're referring to actually fighting, women also weren't allowed for most of our history to fight in war. Now, it is an injustice that women aren't required to sign up for selective service and that is one of the things I agree with MRAs on, that if…

You have to be a troll. WHERE is this statistic from? Pulled out of your sexist ass?

So you're seriously saying that ALL women are stupid, cowardly, and weak, and ALL men aren't? Not only is that ridiculously sexist, but it's an extremely broad generalization.

Good god I hope you're trolling.

It's not demanding "special treatment" to not like being insulted, especially with a slur that implies something is wrong with being a woman and having a "pussy". Equal treatment means equal respect, not equal harassment.

I don't disagree with you on any of these points. That's why I browse r/MensRights and consider myself a MRA. I recognize that a lot of feminists, usually the loudest ones, are misandrists and looking for special treatment rather than true equality. I'm just saying that not ALL feminists are like that. There are men and MRAs that are misogynists, and you would surely hate any blanket statements that all MRAs are just misogynistic, crazy manbitches, just as I'm angered by blanket statements that …

I wholeheartedly agree with dorky2. There's no need to make blanket statements like that. I'm a feminist, and a vocal opponent of chivalry.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, the term "feminist" has come to only be associated with the radical misandrists who call themselves feminists, rather than being associated with those who are solely concerned with equality of the sexes.

Your username suits you. I see no point in continuing an argument with someone so obviously bigoted.

So the purpose of the Men's Rights movement is to perpetuate the animosity between the sexes because "feminists did it first" or even worse, because striving for equality would make you a hippy? And another thing, if equality is just a "hippy buzzword", then what do you call those who wanted equality between the races or equality for LGBT individuals? Acid dropping douche bags?

You don't have to believe that sex is only for making babies, and that doesn't have to be it's main function for you or for anything else. However, you can't deny that the only real reason it came into existence was for reproduction. But honestly, at this point I'm just arguing for argument's sake since I certainly agree that sex is more than just procreation.

In response to trying to show that women are not "sugar, spice and everything nice": I've noticed frequently that this subreddit is full of circlejerk women-bashing. Doesn't this create the same problems that feminism does by generating animosity towards one gender rather than working towards equality and harmony between both genders?

While I think that sex is for pleasure just as much if not more as for procreation, you're deliberately misunderstanding what onlyAA is saying. Sex exists solely as a means of reproduction so our species can survive. The purpose of sex is to make a baby. It just so happens that it feels good too. Edit: This is not to say that I don't agree with what the OP is saying.

This may just be me but as a woman, I'm just as offended by chivalry and the idea that men need to be the providers as I am by outright sexism. Chivalry is benevolent sexism, and it only serves to perpetuate the idea that women are weak and need to be fended for by men. I wish more women recognized this and realized that condemning sexism and demanding chivalry only makes them seem like hypocrites and discredit the very equality movement that they claim to support.

I'm not trying to redefine it. Radical feminists are doing a pretty good job of redefining it on their own.

This is why I hate "feminists". I am female, and a feminist in the respect that I want equal pay and equal treatment. FOR MEN AND WOMEN. It pisses me off when women use feminism to bash men. Even more so when they abuse science to attribute socially constructed or coincidental gender differences to inherent sexual characteristics. EDIT: I don't have any ideas for your speech, this is just my two cents on feminism. Sorry.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
