I've simply stated that presently, part of the reason why women have an easier time wearing men's clothing than men have wearing women's clothing is that masculinity is frequently seen as a sign of strength whereas femininity is associated with weakness, hence woman dressing as men is seen as becoming stronger and man dressing as woman is seen as becoming weaker. They were considered even less valuable in a way because they weren't permitted this "right" to dress as a man, and perhaps, attempt to obtain the power of a man. Now, it's more accepted. Also, you cannot generalize based on your individual experience. I can assure you I've seen many, many cases of subtle discrimination against women in academia (the place where I hang). There are realms where it is still very pervasive, and often in this subtle form which makes it that much more difficult to tackle. The same is true of racism in a lot of places. Everyone having equal opportunity is great, but different people still face certain obstacles when trying to pursue those opportunities. And if the obstacle is a result of their gender, or their race, or some other measure of social or economic status, then things really aren’t so equal. Part of the reason women can be stay at home moms and face less judgment for it is because being a stay at home mom isn’t seen as lowering their status. They were already low.
