His behaviour and treatment of you is not a reflection of you but of himself. Men like this don't care what you are like and you can't fix them. FDS has loads of posts and info on this sort of guy, but that's the gist of it. You were 100% expressing valid things and the fact you're questioning that is likely that he engaged in gaslighting to make you doubt yourself.

This is amazing! It takes so long to undo the damage that our misogynistic society does to us. Don't be too harsh on yourself when you slip up, you're learning and putting the effort in. That's the important thing.

That's 100% lovebombing. That is like, textbook lovebombing. He did what he did to get you and get you to do whatever he wants. Then when he was done, he dumped you. People who behave like this don't respect you. The want something from you. Whether that's as simple as sex or validation or whatever. Combine that with the negging, and you've got a grade A LVM. He took the trash out when he left and you should be grateful for that. He could have engaged in years of abuse, but his goals were differ…

This is my concern when I re-enter the world of dating. I got out partly because of Covid but also because I need to get to the point of leveling up that following the FDS handbook is easier. I joke with my friends that I'm going to marry for money because if you're going to get cheated on then you may as well make some money out of it. But I know that it's partly true. So many men value themselves as to how easily a woman will sleep with them, how can they ever genuinely enter into a monogamous…

If you go to a dealership, do a lot of research as to the specific branch, not just the company. When I bought my car, it had a service package attached. I got the service done in the city I live near and they tried to screw me over on my tyres, saying they needed replacing. Luckily my dad knows about this sort of stuff and told me they were fine and perfectly safe. This was in January and I had my MOT last month and there was absolutely no issue. This was done at a place my parents have been go…

I'm pro sex worker in the sense that I'm glad that prostitution is legal in my country, but also glad that brothels and pimps are not. I support those that do the job and believe that they should have access to support, healthcare, security and justice if things go wrong. I do not support those that pay for sex. I don't support those that make money off of other people's sex work. I don't support people who abuse sex workers.

That's the perfect way to describe him, he was so bland! Until after the rejection and I got his 'post break up rejection texts' where he tried to make himself feel better, that was amusing.

Yeah exactly. I dated someone for about a month and he was really lovely to me. For me it was a little much and a little suffocating but I'm just not big on that sort of thing and he was listening to me. But just a few things he said rubbed me the wrong way. I called my friend about it (the sex was horrific as well) and she was like, you actually hate him, why? And I realised, he'd shown his true colours and I just didn't want to trust my gut and judge him on that, but I had to. Like he'd claim …

Yeah that's exactly right! There are things that can be disagreed upon and things that can't. A lack of respect or love for others cannot be disagreed upon and still have a healthy and happy relationship.

This is a different situation than I had with my ex but it's ringing bells for me. My ex was also great with his words. He was so manipulative and could twist anything to mean the way he wanted it to. I have to admit it's an impressive skill but it took me ages to realise that I wasn't crazy and that he was actually being emotionally abusive because he was just so silver tongued! You know you did the right thing. People can think different things but in a relationship, your morals and ideals sho…

Firstly, this is a question for a therapist. Your first step in atoning should be to find a good one and commit to regular sessions. There is a lot of damage to undo and then you need to learn to forgive yourself whilst holding yourself accountable. That's a difficult balance to get right and you need a licensed medical practitioner to help guide you. However, I will give some advice and some insight from the other side. Don't reach out to your victims. Don't post a blanket statement online to a…

You. Are. A. Genius. This is crazy smart! It's super fucked up that it's necessary but it's genius. I'm definitely going to use this when I start dating again. I'm 6' tall and I used to be really self conscious of it. I love my height now, I get little old ladies asking for me to reach high shelves in supermarkets, it's helpful for my job and gaining 5 lbs on me is very different than if I were 5' tall. But obviously it's an standard (but unforgivable imo) insecurity for a man to have so it woul…

This has been shared on FDS before, I'm sure but it just really hit home for me. I hope you enjoy it and find strength in her words like I did. Also, the glitter in her hair!! https://youtu.be/tCWRdp5NAFI But seriously, you are doing the right thing. It's scary, of course it is. Any time you start something new that could be amazing, it's scary. But you know what you need to do. Stay safe and stay strong Queen 👸🏼💝

I've never watched it. I've had a few 'friends' (mostly male but some female) try to convince me to watch it and some even tried to force me (I just closed my eyes). This was before FDS and before I understood why I don't like it. I just knew the idea of it creeped me out. I guess I don't understand why it's so important to anyone?

God you have a nightmare of an ex, but at least you have FDS now! Record this stuff and have a back up, you may want or need to amend your custody agreement in the future and examples of him dropping the ball over long periods of time will help you immensely. I love the fact that I can do everything on my schedule. In particular, I love my job but struggle with insomnia and other health issues. I'm fortunate because within health and safety etc, I can dictate my own hours and work when is convenient for me. This often means I'm working until 9pm and my food schedule is out the window. But I'm not letting anyone down and I'm getting my work done and I'm happy. (My work life balance is fine, I swear! Most of my socialising is online anyway due to frien…

It's hard because you're stuck with all the 'what ifs'. FDS is all about block and move on. Which I agree with but during that move on, sometimes you need to grieve and acknowledge that your emotions aren't always logical for the situation/relationship you're mourning. Like he could be the worst NVM but if you had an emotional attachment, you may still need to grieve before you celebrate them being out of your life. Or vice versa in my case. The sadness comes after the relief. First things first…

I think it really depends on why it's bad. Like your example is a no brainer, but the first time you have sex is never great, so it's hard to know where to draw the line. I think it's to do with attention and focusing on your pleasure. And definitely learning as it goes on.

The thing with the FDS handbook, is that it's great advice but it's never going to be 100% perfect for everyone. It's not one size fits all. When it comes to engagements, the two year rule is great when you start dating at a point in your life that you're ready to get married. Before that, personal timelines are also important. You need to make sure you both have the same timeline in mind and he knows and agrees with your earliest/latest times or events. I'm 25 and am not in a position to get ma…

Jesus Christ that's terrifying. Was he proud of what he'd done? I have a really unique name, like until about 3 years ago I was the only one on Facebook. I'd be pretty easy to find at work anyway. This is scary! Why do men have to be such freaks?

You're not a pickme. You're in an abusive relationship. The user Ebbie45 has so many amazing resources for people who are leaving abusive relationships. The first thing is you don't tell them. You research, you collect your important documents and stockpile cash where possible. Then you leave when it's convenient and safe for you to do so. On their profile, there's so many resources that will help you. You are not alone! And until it is safe for you to leave, you can talk to us.

I've only found time to fully help, as cliché as it is. There's other stuff you can do to combat the feelings side of it: Like if you're feeling lonely, do something that makes you feel whole and complete, like talking to friends or something arty that you enjoy or reading or gym per whatever. If you miss the dates you used to go on, make an effort to do dates for yourself. Like go to a bar or restaurant or get a nice takeaway or go for a massage or a walk or whatever. I had a guy approach me in a pub (at like 6pm on a sunny summer day) and say he really liked my 'unique style'. Obviously this was a ridiculous neg that my friend an I saw through immediately, but also, my style is the opposite of unique. It's just completely basic bitch. For me, it's not just about investment and interest from him but also acknowledgement that life as a woman is more expensive. Plus it takes us a lot longer to get ready for a date, and so it's a reflection of their appreciation of that time. As a uni student, (and pre FDS) I never did a dinner date for a first date but in did do drinks. And although I was willing to pay (and probs be less than willing to see the man again), I would never expect or want to.

Oh no, I agree with you, it's often a necessity to stop people getting their wires crossed. However it can be used by LVMs to check they've found a pickme willing to sacrifice herself to be with a man. I definitely want to answer it honestly, but also tactfully and not inviting sexual questions as so often happens. That's a really good response though, I especially like your use of 'partner'. It shows that's what i'm looking for and that I'm not going to be a bangmaid or new mommy.

You will feel whole again. It just takes time and some self love. I know for me, some of the pain wasn't about what he did to me but about what I allowed to be done. I had to acknowledge what boundaries I allowed to be ignored and forgive myself for it. That is the only way you can heal and protect yourself in the future. The fact that you acknowledge your behaviour is a really great start, well done. And being in therapy too. Both are definitely big steps towards levelling up! However, you shouldn't be in a relationship until you are able to be without traumatising the other person. That's basic levels of respect. Oh what a nightmare! How long did it take you to get diagnosed? Is it under control or are you still struggling? I've got hypothyroidism and am so fortunate because my mum's friend has it so my mum did loads of reading about the medical sexism, as all the experiments were done on men as out cycles make things harder. So I just made sure to do my period maths before I got more blood tests! I'm on good drugs now and honestly feel so different. It's crazy. I have energy, am losing weight despite ea…

Yeah, my nurse was very gentle but it was just so invasive. Especially as she was getting near my cervix, it was just awful! A xanex would be really helpful. Oh god that sounds awful. But I'm sure you're a kind face when they need it most! I would have but I had to go back to the lab. I'm doing my PhD and Covid sort of knocked us back, experimentally. I'm going to the pub with my friends tomorrow though 😊 (socially distant and Covid safe of course)

Oh my god that's awful! At least the other staff treated you properly and she's gone! Now you mention it, I had a snotty nurse who said my cholesterol was high because I wasn't eating right or exercising enough (I was an international athlete at 17, so I love exercising and I love cooking good quality food so always get my veggies in etc). My mum nagged me to go back and it turns out my thyroid is crap and that causes the cholesterol issue. I complained and nothing happened of it but I'm now wor…

I think it was more to do with the fact I do have a traumatic sexual history. I really appreciate your thoughts but the nurse was great. Really tried her best to put me at ease, stopped when I needed her to and checked in with me the whole time. She was really great.

I'm 25 and have dated a few NVM and a few LVM and have compiled this list through them Must haves: - Similar beliefs about social responsibility, not treating people like shit, doing good for those around you etc. - Passion about their chosen career - Be able to afford their lifestyle/to join my lifestyle. - Not be emasculated by a woman succeeding (I plan to succeed, by my own standards anyway) - Must have an (imo) healthy attitude towards mental health, therapy, drugs if necessary etc - Must d…

Yeah thanks, I'm not that bothered about the personal aspect. I was expecting to be but I guess I realised that it's like when I was a waitress. You don't remember anyone unless they're a wanker! The physical discomfort really surprised me, I think that's why I'm so weird about it. Like, it was so much deeper than anything has ever gone before! (More info than you were probably expecting!)

That's what I was really trying to do but I just couldn't separate it. My sister works in healthcare so I hear a lot of stories that makes it suuuper clear that they don't see it the same way but it was the physical feeling that I really struggled with. I appreciate it, and you're probably right, that's the easiest way to deal with it and move forwards. I just hope my results are clear so I can forget it happened for the next 3 years!

Yeah I can genuinely see how that would help, but the issue is the other person in that. Like for me, my anxiety was so bad I struggled to make decisions so being submissive was a release that allowed me to let him make all the decisions etc. But it went too far and I ended up feeling disrespected because he got off on hurting me and seeing the pain on my face. And that is not someone you want in your life!

What would have been a legitimate enough reason for him? It always baffles me how LVM feel it is up to them to police what we wear. It's like they can see women getting more comfortable with themselves and being in public and they feel the need to put us down.

Knives out. Really good murder mystery, female main character. If you haven't already, definitely watch Hot fuzz. There's a lot of men, including the main characters but zero romance and definite character growth, although there is scope... It's also one of the funniest British movies ever made. The only thing he can bitch about is that you said tomorrow, but everyone knows that just means not today, maybe tomorrow if I've gotten over it. And you shouldn't have. I know what you meant, and what I meant is that unless the guy is an actual good person who respects you, they will see you are not as perfect as they made you out to be and get bored. Or get pissed off. They make a fantasy of you and then get annoyed when you're a real human being who isn't exactly what they thought they wanted.

They don't. I'm pretty hot, tall, blonde, curvy and athletic with a nice face and I've been treated like absolute shit by shitty men. The only way to be treated right by a guy is to refuse to be treated any other way and walk away from people that treat you wrong. That personal power attracts the right sort of people so much more than aesthetics.

I think it's more like don't limit yourself. Like if you're dating someone and meet someone new, you have no commitment to the first unless there's commitment from them and you feel they're HV? I struggle to find anyone worth dating, so it's not really something I need to consider!

I personally see the difference as depending on how important that thing is to you. If your ideal partner would work in a similar field to you but you'd be happy with someone who was as passionate about their job as you, that's a compromise, but settling would be for someone in a deadend job. (Used that example because it's important to me)

You remind yourself how hard you have worked to undo the crap that made you a pickme. You remind yourself of the HV people you are working to surround yourself with. You remind yourself that you are so strong that you went against the grain and educated yourself to be better, happier and healthier than society wants you to be. You're doing so well, just by being on this journey. That's amazing and you deserve to celebrate how far you've come, not be embarrassed by your starting point.

This is amazing!! Well done! Start thinking about what you want from your life, how you want it to be. Think about anything and everything you've ever wanted. Big and small things. Get excited about making those things happen. It's so scary but amazing. Doing the small things makes the big things seem more possible. It reduces you down to being a sexual object. He's reminding you that he only thinks about you as that. I get that a lot, ooo you're so smart, it's so sexy. As if that's why I chose my career, to appeal to a fucking man. It's also an easy thing to 'compliment' because if the job/degree title sounds smart, it's a fairly obvious one and doesn't require any real evaluation of the woman. It's also not a good compliment, I've been told my whole life that I'm smart. I'd rather be told I'm funny or kin…

Yeah that's exactly the same as me, except it wasn't a life time, just a 2 year emotionally abusive relationship. I'm putting a lot of work into overcoming the trauma and this sort of reflection is part of my process to make sure I respond to the situation rather than react. Thank you! Yeah that's a really good point actually! Phew, nice reinforcement that I'm not nasty! 😂 That's such a great way of putting it. I once cut off a 'friend' (read LVM) who wanted more than friendship and we were sort of seeing how it went and when I said no to sex, he said 'aww but it'd be fun' and continued to push. A guy who's only had sex with one girl and a fwb, so probably not going to rock my world on the first try! I know that sounds bitchy but meh But then when I explained the next day that…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/07/20 02:00 AM

Yeah exactly! Like I sometimes struggle to understand how I'm feeling, and need time alone to work through it. But I always explain this, and that it's not a reflection on what they've said or how they've said it, but that I just need to figure it out on my own. Then I come back and we discuss. So to some it could be the silent treatment, but the difference is communication!

THIS! I had to explain to s supposedly HVM (thought he was before this) that it shouldn't matter if he personally benefits from feminism, he should support it and it's not the women in feminism's responsibility to do the work for both men and women. Men feel entitled to everything a woman has, and so if they've fought for over a century for something, they think we should fight for them too.

Firstly, I do not think you have to let it go, but be really careful not to settle. I definitely want that in my future, but if I don't meet the right guy, that's fine, I'll foster kids and be happy that way. Secondly, I found this peace by addressing why I want that. I see it as a red flag because best case scenario, he needs therapy and has either not gone or made no progress. He wants you to fluff up his ego whilst also lowering your expectations of him. 'I told you I'm bad at buying presents!', 'I told you I'm lazy' etc etc. I wouldn't date someone like this because I look for a partner, not a project.

He then asked me about why time isn't invariant and was surprised when he didn't understand the equations. Thank you!! I did my undergrad in essentially theoretical…

Seriously!! I'm doing a quantum physics PhD so when I call them on this crap they either suddenly get all excited because they think I'll teach them about the stuff they claim to know about (for free) or they try to put me down because they don't like that I know more about it than them

I only joined this sub a few weeks ago and you lovely ladies have helped me so much by reinforcing my beliefs in our worth and allowing me to feel like part of the community. Hopefully it won't happen but if it does, thank you!!

I had a gross situation when I was a waitress in a hotel restaurant where a lot of business people stayed. A guest who was 25 years my senior left me a note with his phone number and room number saying he'd enjoyed our conversation. I showed it to the guys I worked with, they ran around the hotel with it and showed it to any staff they could and then it was pinned on our staff notice board for about a year. We also put his number into Facebook and found he had a long term partner and 3 children …

This is a man who has never treated women with respect but believes he is entitled to their bodies. He has also watched a few episodes of Criminal Minds and thinks he sounds smart using phrases like 'Sexual Sadist'. His bitterness just leaps off the page. It's hilarious that scrotes like this think we spend so much time thinking about them and their desires! Spoiler alert: we don't give a fuck. We can get attention/sex by literally walking into a bar. If that's all you want, it really doesn't ta…

I'm finally at that point too. Plus 'needing' to nag is also a dumping offense. I'm their partner not their mother!
