Why would I want to keep talking to someone who rejected me ? This quite clearly implies the only reason he can think of to keep talking to her would be if she hadn't rejected him (which she didn't even do). What other conclusion can be drawn from that?

If you want a woman who is "smart and educated," maybe start by not calling them "girls." Also, you didn't get "rejected." What is your definition of success, her immediately dumping and/or being unfaithful to her boyfriend? That is completely unreasonable. The fact that now you're going to stop talking to her like a child throwing a temper tantrum demonstrates that you don't deserve someone like that.

It's not "forced" upon us. Many of us choose to behave in a respectful way. Many men do not, they act like pigs, and women despise them for it. I never said that I was divorced. It's simply the statistical result of time passing... The older people get without finding a partner, the more likely they are to have some serious problems causing that condition. The best people—mentally healthy, successful, attractive, etc.—get snatched up early. That's just the way it happens. Of course there are always exceptions, it's just a matter of proportions.

As a middle-aged adult, I can definitely say that the OP is wrong on this. Don't fuck up your time in uni. Once you get to be my age, most of the other people who are left are either as fucked up as I am, or divorcees with obnoxious children to care for.
