It has nothing to do with who you are as a person, and everything to do with patterns that you’ve fallen into. What helped me was to cease the constant self diagnosing, and label making. I used to call myself afflicted with social anxiety, approach anxiety, etc, along with tons of other negative and power submitted conditions. Maybe pizza faced grease slob can’t “not try” and expect anything to happen, but if he uses his “trying ability” to enact positive changes in his own life, women will DEFINITELY pick up on that, and their attitude toward him may change.
