Every time I see these stats I am deeply sad and scared for the men in my life. Been trying to get my brother into therapy for ages but the stigma and his "I'll take care of it myself" mentality has made it so it's basically impossible.

Both sexual and physical abuse or terrible. They each have their own unique set of sequelae that are equally debilitating and in many cases victims suffer from both forms of abuse at once. That was certainly the case for my siblings and I. More often than not, you'll find some combination of neglect, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and physical abuse and not just one of these things in isolation.

AGREED. The media trivialises the sexual abuse of boys and the sex crimes of women. We should absolutely call this shit out and call people out when they comment "I bet his friends are jealous" on articles about boys being sexually abused by women. This isn't okay. It isn't funny. And it makes it that much harder for male victims to find the support they need.

Also, she infected him with HIV which is a death sentence. She should have been charged with actual bodily harm or something similar. She has just ruined this boy's life. I think when someone does that to a child, you should just kill them. In this case, she should be denied access to AIDS medication. It's the closest thing to justice this kid could get.

He didn't "get some pussy". He was molested. He's a child. If it was an adult man doing this to a 15 year old girl people wouldn't be placing any of the blame on the girl. The child's choices in this case are irrelevant. 15 year olds cannot consent to sex.

Respectfully disagree. He was a child. If in this case his accusations turned out to be untrue (and I've seen no evidence that they were untrue at this point and not even the prosecutors seemed to be claiming that) then he still should have been given help-- not 15 years.

I only believe in execution after ample physical/DNA evidence. I'd also like to add that because it was incest, telling his relatives might not have guaranteed that they'd cut off that predator's access to the other child. When my sister and I reported our father/rapist our aunt continued to let him babysit her granddaughter in spite of our pleas because she was so deeply in denial (and remains that way to this day). When our abuser gets out of prison, I have absolutely no doubt that she'll continue to let him watch her granddaughter.

Oh, I'm not talking about adults. He was a minor when he committed this crime and a minor when he was abused. That's what makes 15 years seem so excessive. And telling the police/adults doesn't always help. In my case, I told every adult in my family (stupidly didn't tell the police or a teacher as a kid though) and nothing was done. My point about there not being enough support for male survivors is still valid and I think I can get upset about that. I respectfully disagree. Going to the police wouldn't guarantee that he would get his abuser off the street/prevent him from hurting his little cousin or anyone else. It takes months/years for any arrests to be made in CSA cases and then sentences are often extremely short. My molester molested two of his daughters and multiple other kids but only got 2.5 years. Wow. This guy is basically tricked into having sex with this girl who lied about her age (she was essentially raping him through deception) and now he is going to be in prison for 2.5 years... yet I was raped every day from my earliest memories until I was a teenager by my own blood-relative and he got just over a year in prison for the crime even with ample physical evidence and a confession. There's really no justice in the world.
