I'm about to graduate in a year. Let me be honest he often invites me to live with him. As much as a I love him I can't spend prolonged durations with him. It drains me. He has a tendency to burden his emotional suffering on others.

I offer help at NGOs often. I try my best to alleviate suffering of others. Despite that I feel rudderless. Numb would be the adjective to describe my situation. Most days I feel no happiness and some days I'm burdened with sadness.

Undeniable No person has helped me as much as this subReddit has. Forever grateful.

God, I can't thank you enough for this. It's like a kick in the gut. But this is what I needed to get out of my stupor. I haven't ever been to the gym. But I used to be an exceptional runner. I had made her my life. That was my biggest mistake. I know I'll be mocked for this. But I'll say it. I'm scared of staying alone. This probably has its roots in a bad childhood. How do I undo that and became my source of happiness, eliminating need for others' support?

Thank you so much for sparing the time to respond. I'll start doing everything you've mentioned without any delay.

Some tough love my way. Thanks. I needed this. I've resolved to change my life. For the last 2 decades I've provided for my family diligently. It's now time focus on my desires, aspirations.

I'm 53 years old. I understand that I need to stop the pity party and work on bettering myself.

You're right. I haven't done much reading. I was introduced to this subReddit by a friend not too long ago. I spent 2 decades with this lady. And now she chooses to desert me. There's some anger but more than anger there's pain.

I'd like to begin by thanking you for commenting and sharing your views. I do realise that I'll survive without her. But often there are days when the pain is excruciating. There are days when I've little desire to wake up. My friends mock me. I probably am a weak guy. But I'm not untruthful. I did experience immense pain. Does it get better?

Many thanks for commenting. Do you think it'll get better. My behaviour may seem farcical to a lot. But I've gone through immense pain due to this affinity for her. There were days I contemplated suicide. Of course I wouldn't act on it but the pain was indescribable.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
