You are entirely right in that I don't know the reason for sure. I have a bachelor and masters in psych from Sydney and have been investigating PTSD for years. This is the first time I have actually come up with a correlation that adds up. I could think it wrong in another year, but I suppose that is what learning is all about. Thanks for your thoughts mate.

I think we share better when standing shoulder to shoulder and not sitting face to face. I think (not positive, just a thought) a sense of belonging helps more than actually talking. Fraternal organisations can help, but only if they have some physicality/productivity to them. I think you are entirely right. I did exactly what you described. Got a nice big dose of Oneitis after my first deployment. Terrible marriage, ended in divorce, but I needed the reality and clarity that came with it.
