I think what I'm looking for is emotional intimacy and mutual attraction even if it doesn't come with lifelong commitment. Maybe my standards are just so low at this point, but I'm getting fond of the idea of just staying single and enjoying connections that don't have to be permanent.

Their kid is an infant It hasn't gone further than touching each other's hands a little more than we needed to while we were handing each other stuff at work. We're both attracted to each other. It's just a playful crush type of relationship Thanks for understanding about it being hard to end things and the incompatibility. I've felt that way for a while. The breakup being so difficult I would say is because he lives with me and he has more stuff than I do, and most of his family isn't in the po…

Thanks, yeah I do know that sub, but from what I've seen I don't relate much. I came here to have a conversation about cheating from my perspective because I felt like people on PPD would like to hear maybe the logic behind it all when it's so hard to understand from a monogamous background. I didn't understand it either. I'm still against cheating as ironic as that is. I don't romanticize it. The meat and potatoes of the affair is we both make each other feel good about our own selves, wanted, …

I don't agree that you should never expect romantic excitement again after you choose someone. I haven't felt that with my bf in 2 years. I don't think people should just accept mediocrity when there are other options out there. Is that disgusting? I think what's disgusting is hurting our partners. I don't like this part at all. Part of what's kept us together is him living with me. We've been down the road of me explicitly telling him "We probably wouldn't be together if we lived apart" and he'…

If I'm being honest I don't want him to leave his family for me. I wouldn't want to be in the wife's shoes and I do actually have empathy, I would prefer if it works out for them. I wouldn't want to have a baby with him or any man that already has a child. Even if it's not mine, one child is enough for me. I'm open to being a stepmother but right now I'm not even expecting that. And you're right why be with someone long term that has a history of straying. I don't know if I want a LTR anymore, a…

It could be because of NRE. I haven't felt respected by my bf in a while though, from the nature of our conversations and him turning everything into a full blown debate, disagreeing with everything I say, thinking he's right all the time because he's older. We have an age gap. This isn't new. It's just more obvious now, when you have someone actually listening and understanding you rather than insulting you are you supposed to choose the person insulting you? I guess I don't blame anyone here f…

I know. This was a problem in my current relationship. We both got comfortable enough to act like our worst selves. Was our first ever relationship and I made mistakes and so did he. I know now what to expect and what's realistic. And I'm not expecting this to last, it might blow over, or we might end up losing interest in each other, that's okay. The fact is we're both filling a need that's not met in our own relationships. If their marriage gets better that's good too. I'm enforcing physical a…

I'm not ready to inflict this kind of stress onto my bf. I don't want to hurt him at all. I probably left this out but this isn't the first time I've wanted to break up with him - over the years I've mentioned I'm not sure and I don't think we are right for each other. So the breakup won't be totally unexpected but I still want to wait for a better time. Regardless of whether my coworker and I "get together" I'm going to end this relationship because I've had it in me for a long time. I also wan…

Update on the borderline-cheating situation I'm in Coworker and I might have a thing now. I won't do anything physical for now, we just text and hang out at work. We're both not happy in our relationships. It's just difficult obviously due to living situations and not wanting to hurt our partners. I suggested we just get to know each other better and don't take it too seriously but have boundaries. He's good with that. I feel bad about texting him behind my bfs back and having feelings for him b…
