It’s a reference to those “my kid is an honor student at [school]” bumper stickers.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/03/21 03:16 AM
37

Not that it makes it any better, but some schools used to offer bumper stickers to parents of honor students that said something like “my kid is an honor student at [school].” Then parody bumper stickers came out like “my kid can beat up your honor student” or something similar. This is taking that reference... many steps further.

You absolutely need to read the handbook. But to answer your question, it shows he values you & is invested in you and the relationship. As women, we do this but dressing up, doing our hair & makeup, and going on a date with a man which has an inherent risk for us. Wether or not he pays also says a lot about him & your relationship. For example, a LVM ex didn’t respect me, treated me poorly, manipulated me, was a liar, didn’t respect my boundaries, didn’t support me, etc. He also usually didn’t …

Back in my college years I once went dumpster diving and found enough of those coffee kurig pods to last a year (unopened boxes, not expired), along with a few other things I needed. Dumpster diving is much more useful and fun.

I dated a guy once who started out the relationship criticizing me for being too skinny. I’d lost a lot of weight prior to meeting him due to a medical issue & was stick thin and very self conscious about it. The worst was when he claimed his mom said something about my weight (his “mom” also supposedly made comments about my acne. She was amazing & he was a liar so I realize not that wasn’t true). I slowly started getting back to my normal, healthy weight, and of course he starting criticizing …

The women later mentioned this only started happening after they had a baby. Very common for abusers to wait to show their true colors until they feel a woman is "trapped" with a baby. Vet vet vet before you agree to have a kid with any man!

parents shouldn’t have separate bedrooms A bit off topic, but there’s nothing wrong with sleeping in separate bedrooms if sleeping together means sacrificing a good nights sleep. Growing up, my mom slept in a queen size bed in their room while my dad slept in a different bed downstairs. It’s not because that had martial issues, but because my mom is a light sleeper and couldn’t sleep otherwise. Don’t sacrifice your sleep for your partner is all I’m saying.

He asks her whether he should pack his bags and she tells him no. If a man threatens to pack his bags and stay at a hotel, he’s bluffing. He’s emotionally manipulating you, and wants you to reverse course and convince him to stay. Don’t. Call his bluff. Tell him you need space and that that’s a good idea. And then use that space to think hard on if you actually want to be in this relationship.

Another safety thing for while using OLD: make sure you don’t use any photos on your dating profile that are also used on any social media accounts. The photos can easily be reversed searched so that any LVM can find your social media.

I’m reminded of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s monologue in Beyoncé’s “Flawless”: We teach girls to shrink themselves / To make themselves smaller / We say to girls / “You can have ambition / But not too much / You should aim to be successful / But not too successful / Otherwise you will threaten the man" ... We raise girls to see each other as competitors / Not for jobs or for accomplishments / Which I think can be a good thing / But for the attention of men / We teach girls that they cannot be sex…

• “I’m an open book, just ask questions!” Or other lazy bios with no info, “get to know me like a normal person and ask questions!” • “hunting and fishing is a way of life” or any pictures with dead animals. • “420” • anything that tells me to swipe left, even if I don’t meet the criteria. “If you dyed your hair a bright color swipe left.” My hair is natural but that’d still be an automatic left. It’s his job to not swipe on women he’s not interested in, not women’s job to not swipe on him if he…

This part in particular stuck out to me: In the U.S., more than one in three women has experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner (defined as current or former spouses or partners) in their lifetime, according to a 2010 survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And in recent years, the number of domestic violence cases (which includes assault by intimate partners and family members) has spiked, making up more than half of all violent crimes in the…

Very good point! Probably because they’re pornsick. They see all the porn stars wearing lingerie, so they think their SO should wear some, too. Never mind it costs like $100 for good lingerie, and they would never think to wear sexy clothing for their SO!

Oh my gosh.. I just remembered how an ex used to say, in a romantic setting, something about me being the most important woman in his life “... behind my mom, of course.” It was... icky, and when I finally told him to stop doing that I actually had to explain why that was weird.

I am so glad you now get to find yourself, that’s such an exciting journey. He sounds like an asshole, I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. What are you doing to spend time on yourself?

Ha! Oh that’s 100% what set it off. If I hadn’t said that though, I’m sure something else would have ended in a break up, like I said there was a week of “emotional hell” leading up to it. Naively I thought it MaDe uS sTrONgEr, but I see now a break up was inevitable, and I’m honestly glad it happened. And definitely, any religion that tells you you can’t think for yourself shouldn’t be trusted. If an aspect of it doesn’t make logical sense, you should be free to think it through and question it…

I’d say that’s true to a point, but I honestly haven’t lost hope yet. I think there are HVM out there who will, it’s just a matter of refusing to settle for anything less. Recently, my grandma started having a lot of health issues, and watching my grandpa, the definition of a HVM, take care of her was so sweet. He’d get to the hospital before visiting hours started & stay till it ended, staying by her side as much as possible, and when she was home he was taking care of her in every single way p…

A family friend recently went through a divorce, because he cheated & then left her (after she stuck by his side even after he brought them to financial ruin like three times). I recently saw him with his new woman out in public, and I just... I can’t comprehend how dumb you’d have to be to date a married man. Like are you really that desperate? 🤡

Girl, no. I took a look through your post history and you say recently he told you he loved you to play with your feelings, & he wanted to meet with you on Valentine’s Day and then canceled. That right there should be signs he’s manipulative & a Lvm, but in an earlier post you actually said he’s abusive, and describe physical abuse! You deserve so, so much better. I found this article after another user posted it under an AITA post (featuring a Lvm saying he “helps” his wife around the house sometimes, and is he the AH for making lunch plans without telling his wife on his day off, and telling her he works so she can stay at home and watch the kids?). It’s okay to keep score. And if the score is off balance, if you’re constantly picking up after a guy, doing all the cooking, all the planning, being a mommy and therapist and a maid all in one, dump his ass…

I’m sure this doesn’t need to be said but for any lurking PickMes; don’t EVER agree to have a safe word with a guy. Ever. Your “no” should be enough. Your “stop” should be enough. You shouldn’t need a specific word to make him stop, and it’s easier for him to try to talk his way out of it if he ignores your safeword then if he ignores words like “stop.” “Sorry I didn’t hear you say it... I mean I thought it just mean you were in pain, and you obviously weren’t so I kept going.” Unfortunately I k…

I used to have a porn addiction. It completely perverted my sense of self, my sexuality, and my ability to have relationships. I developed a strong sense of fear of men. I couldn’t think about anything besides sex, every waking hour I was thinking about porn. My first relationship had a very unhealthy “kink” dynamic, which I won’t go in to, but it was very much influenced by my porn addiction (and his). I’m still dealing with the trauma from that & porn. I originally stopped watching porn for my…

Here’s my list. I wrote it out shortly after my ex and I broke up. I try to make it a practice to occasionally go through the list & make sure any guy I’m dating is meeting the requirements. Long term SO requirements Non negotiable. - takes care of me as much as I take care of him - 100% trustworthy. I need to be able to trust his words to be true, his actions to be honest, and trust he will not hurt me - Will take no for an answer every single time, no matter what. - Know what he wants. Especia…

“You’ve been up for 15 minutes and you haven’t made me a sandwich?” What the fuck?? When the guy I’m dating wakes up, he goes and makes coffee & then brings it to me in bed. Certainly does not ask for a sandwich. I can’t even imagine a guy asking me that, nor could I imagine working for an engagement ring like that. What the hell.

Yup. He’s 22, working in a grocery store, with frizzy hair long enough to put in a man bun: yet he thinks he’s god’s gift to women, and when women act uncomfortable around him he assumes it’s because he’s so damn hot and not because he’s, you know, making them feel uncomfortable. Gross.

My sister and I have poured out a lot of love & emotional labor on our two little brothers. I am very certain they will both grow up to be HVM for sure. They are both very respectful of women, kind, and empathetic. While my parents and my brothers themselves get a lot of the credit for that, I’d say my sister and I have definitely helped. It’s not part of the Christian myth, it’s part of the Judaism myth. It was added to Judaism after Christianity was created. Edited to add: if I remember correctly, it was to deal with the fact that one creation story has the man & woman created at the same time, whereas the other creation story has the man created & then the women. So, they decided that there must have been two women created.

I did say something along the lines of “well, I do wear a lot of makeup,” and he backtracked a bit. That would have been a better way to handle it, though. Also turns out “I like women without makeup” was total BS. He loved heavy eye makeup. I have no clue why he lied about that.
