Class war not culture war. However, the cultural/tribal aspect takes on a momentum of its own. We're so busy blaming everyone else we can't look up and see the puppeteers at work.

I had a terrible father, but I remember him singing me to sleep with his guitar when I was little. I didn't understand it until I sang my own boy to sleep.

I know a guy who was stabbed and run over by his gf. What did he do? He interfered with her drug problem.

As a supervisor in an industrial workplace I absolutely have to "mansplain" for safety reasons. I'm very aware of the delicacies of supervising women who may feel I'm manspaining but I won't have somebody hurt on my watch, I don't care what they have between their legs. I will never put myself in a position where I'm alone with a woman in the workplace, I judge that to be too risky, but with younger new employees I feel I have no choice.

Very simple. Nobody should ever advocate for anything they are not willing to physically do.

Tell him you'll make a deal with him, that he has to sit with you and allow you to get it all out one time. Then you agree that it won't creep into daily life, that you won't blind side him constantly with the past out side of an agreed occasion to do so.

These problems can be worked through but first you must step back from the edge. You need to seek professional help, help to learn how to be in your skin and help to understand and grapple with the world around you. The minutiae and machinations of how neoliberalism and our new anti male world can be addressed, but first you need help. There are deep systemic issues that must be recognised and teased from the cultural filibuster in order to make a difference, but being dead won't help address th…

That sounded like a journey through my head. Sensitive compassionate men, sensitive to the ebbs and flows of the social fabric, sensitive to and perceptive of the inner machinations of other people, these men struggle with anxiety, shame, identity etc. I am all of these and I'm a musician, speaker, manager at work etc. It's on the one hand an unholy alliance at gun point, on the other It's absolutely perfect. It's taken me decades to learn to manage this, but I have learned much along the way. I…

This is systemic. As the capitalist juggernaut consolidates its position and the deindustrialization leads to a service/gig economy where whole sections of society are increasingly met with fewer options, the patriotic drum of defence opportunities hang like the lowest of fruit. It's increasingly the obvious way to provide for yourself and recruiters are very strategic regarding how and where they recruit. Defence manufacturing, control of global money and power flows, there are big chess moves …

Yip, and I knew a gay child care worker... the blatant campaign to get him removed ended up landing him in jail.

We are all subject to our cultural environment and women are no exception to this. Try to view each person as an individual until proven otherwise. I know some women who are simply amazing human beings, but I also see the sense of entitlement that you describe. Women usually date across and up on the socio-economic spectrum and often automatically expect certain things and certain privileges, but still you are obliged to meet and treat individuals on their own merits.

I'd argue that part of the reason many men have been walked over, unassertive and weak is because they have been culturally reduced to sex crazed violent simping gaming fatherless morons, and if we act like pistol carrying fuck the pansies meatheads we'll just reinforce certain aspects of this and find to our golly gosh surprise that there is a feedback loop of behaving this way and the outcomes we see. You're right we need to be strong and assertive but in a broader way. Sun Tsu sys first seek …

I don't carry a pistol and aren't afraid of people. I'm saying it's not about your personal safety so much, but more about the societal consequences of brushing violence against men under the table.

As a parent of 2 boys and a man who believes in civic engagement i respectfully disagree. It is infecting our culture and institutions and has real consequences.

I had a mate accuse me of smashing his guitar once. I told him if he was too stupid to see that his gf did it then he deserved her.

That's not the point, and some can't. There are legal and cultural issues, societal issues, rehabilitation issues, family and relationship issues.... the fact that violence against men is common and brushed under the carpet is not healthy at all and being increasingly institutionalised and woven into our culture. The fact that I can handle myself with other men isn't the point, the fact that I've been hit by self entitled women and didn't feel like I was allowed to defend myself is not ok. I was…

As a supervisor in the workplace this is always a concern. I supervise mostly men but some women aswell, one of whom would lose he job if she was a male due to her inappropriate behaviour. She is a false allegation waiting to happen and there is nothing I can do. It is out of control and we need to be very careful. Sorry you lost your job.

I moved heaven and earth to avoid court battles during my divorce and fortunately it was successful, it's such a shame when this happens. All I can say is I've seen this many times, I've seen what happens when fathers give up and I've seen what happens when they persevere. You cannot give up.

It's very childish. It hoovers up childish memes and quotes etc and deals with them at a childish level. It's dismissable content is just silly, the traction it gets however is a problem.

Third way to find meaning and apply it to our lives, The attitude we take towards our suffering. Don't forget, the journey IS the actual destination, to travel well and with dignity. My life has largely been a success, however it has been punctuated by 3 very large failures. When I actually take stock of my strengths and ability to succeed and persist, to shoulder my burdens and responsibilities and wrestle with hardships, it is precisely these failures that have given me the strength and tools …

Definitely not violence, that will not help. I'll echo the other comment that asks for specifics, not because I don't understand your general point, but because if you want to address anything you must do so with calculated precision one issue at a time. This also must take place against a backdrop of learning how to live happily in your own skin. You must develop methods to release your anger and hatred for both are toxic regardless of the situation we find ourselves in. The way forwards has 2 …

I've been hit a few times and had to just stand there like an idiot then walk away. I knew I was more powerful and shouldn't hit back, but also knew it was wrong and so normalised that nobody would give a stuff.

I'll echo the other comment that questioned your age. I remember being a colossal fuck up when I was young, not being able to look my family in the eye and deciding to wander off into the wilderness and never return. I've had 2 very happy decades since then. My advice is to do what is hardest. Look your family, yourself and your problems squarely, and take it on. I'll let you in on a little secret, the people who make it are the people who have people that don't give up on them. It doesn't sound…

I grew up without my father. I was raised in a city and when I grew up I decided for many reasons to move to the country/mountains. As a fatherless metro guy it was quite scary and a had a young family to care for aswell. Fast forwards 2 decades and I fell in love with the outdoors, mountains, adventuring etc and have helped heal my own void by providing mentorship to other men and boys including my own children by way of alpine climbing and hiking etc. Not only is mountain climbing deeply medit…

All the time. I was even raped by two 30 year old women as a 15 year old. As a manager in the work place I have to tread very carefully and often put up with blatant sexism lest I be accused of .. you know.. blatant sexism. I don't necessarily mean regarding myself, but as a person of authority everything there is my business once a line is crossed. So I am behooved to ignore the females when they are being sexist if it appears it's happening on autopilot and would be seen as falling into the re…

Given that our modern society does not facilitate male mentors and the effect of that is writ large, I'd suggest there would be value in fostering that here because there are so many lost, angry and struggling males who haven't had anywhere to turn to address the issues they have faced.
