I'm not a seductioneer, but I use IOIs as an indication whether I should continue flirting past the initial "stage" (I'm sure there's seduction lingo for all of this). If I'm pursuing a girl and she hasn't done any of the above, I back off—sometimes I back off all the way, on the chance that she might pursue in response.

Dude, 20 is nothing. Don't get all mental about it. You've got your whole life ahead of you, and increasing odds that your first time will be a woman who knows what she's doing.

Ah that makes much more sense. Excellent idea.

Ha. I love the mental image: a wannabe seducer sneakily eyes his phone, tries an opening line. She responds. He freezes, then checks the phone again for what to do next.

I normally take the hit if they say they have a boyfriend. My response is to look her straight in the eye, smile a little, and say "Well he's a damn lucky guy" with great sincerity. It makes her feel good even if nothing happens between us.

Serious question: what lessons from Seddit would help you not to fall victim? Also a serious question: how is her behavior any different than what a lot of Sedditors seem to be going for?

What if it's just the one date, meeting for dinner with no promise of future anything?

TL;DR: Girls secretly like when you tease them.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
