I have to ask: why this response to what I said, but not to what's said in this post?

I mean the truth of the current society. I'm hard pressed to think of a society where that is and, given the nature of our biology, will not be in the future. Men are expendable and useless, women are not.

My standpoint as a feminist is in line with the Britannica definition. And most people here think it's a garbage definition. If you want people here to take you seriously, stop adhering to it.

Most subreddits seems to be overrun with hysteric ideology driven shrills which accept no thinking outside the accepted parametres of their ideology. That's not true at all; try r/wine or r/weightroom for some eyebleach.

The ones who understand anything about filmmaking (ie. the ones with the money) have seen what happened to Atomic Blonde. Not that this rebranding could possibly do any better, as the core audience (45 year old men) just doesn't want to go see such a movie in the first place.

Portugese people can be white or "people of color" depending on time of day/week/year etc. Only in the US and it's make believe about whiteness. In Europe they're just as white as anybody.

people relate to the stuggles of individual people in their lives, they have feelings about the hardships of individual people in their lives Those same women would not give two shits about what happens to the boys living in the neighboring house.

I wouldn't say that Tinder was the service that made the difference I have a hard time thinking of an individual service that made a greater difference, but this is a measurement issue on something that has no data available, so I guess we'll just have to leave it at that.

Tinder wasn't nearly as groundbreaking as regular online dating or even the Internet (chat rooms, forums, etc.) as a new medium for meeting singles. I completely disagree. Online dating was seen as something for losers of both genders before Tinder came along, although there was of course a shift already e.g. between 2000 and 2010. Being on OkCupid in 2010 was something you did not advertise. That said, Tinder really made this stuff completely acceptable and something that almost everyone on the…

Alienating men have very real consequences. We've already seen some of these consequences in later years as men distance themselves. Refusing accountability also causes a loss of respect. But this is something they don't themselves understand, a bit like people failed to understand fossil fuels and climate change.

It's basically just a horoscope that people like to pretend is scientific. I think the MBTI types are useful descriptors of stereotypes, a bit like saying someone is brave or honest, e.g. it's informative to say that many ENTJs are going to be bold and analytical. It definitely does not go the other way, so that you could predict someone's behavior in any given situation if you know their type.

That may or may not be true, but calling foods "healthy" because of it is immensely misleading and has probably caused people to be fatter because they think they're eating "healthy".
/r/PurplePillDebate05/07/18 07:11 PM

The food that is traditional and culturally accepted is healthier (at least in China or Japan) than in the West. No, there is no such thing as "healthy" food from the perspective of getting fat. Calories are calories, whether it's rice and chicken or a Big Mac. Asians just don't eat as much.

The guy with children from 10 HB9s is higher status than Elon Musk in a group of men, if those men are willing to be honest with themselves. I disagree - or at least I'd rather be Musk because with his wealth I could do what I like with women without getting caught with the kids.

I would say a man with a bunch of baby mama's sounds very low status, not high. Look at what elite men have done for the almost the whole history of the species: you spread your seed by raping the peasant women or by having a harem or by fucking the maid and the waitress when the wife isn't watching. In many places they still do - just consider what Bill Clinton got caught with or what kind of a life Dominique Strauss-Kahn leads. And those are just the ones out in the open. The only reason havin…

I can't remember were I read it but it's supposedly proven in game theory (I think it was an analysis of the stable marriage problem) Well, Alvin Roth got the Nobel prize for it, so I guess the proof was ok. Also, given that we observe quite a bit of divorce (i.e. marriages are literally not stable), the market does not end up in the efficient allocation that Roth proposes. To me it seems that a couple of crucial features his model is missing (to explain real world marriage markets, not allocati…

/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/18 03:54 PM

Huh? If anything, the capability of such men behaving so was much greater than the capability of men before them and in other places. Go ahead, demonstrate your evidence of it being commonplace that ordinary men were able to provide for multiple women and their children. I double dare you.

Men were demonstrably untrustworthy, constantly enforcing barriers on women while creating loopholes for their own. Ah, the good old apex fallacy. Do you think 19th-century factory workers (laboring for 12+ hours per day for a low income) had the capability of breaking the deal, i.e. provisioning for more than one woman's children?

The number of women who marry men is exactly equal to the number of men who marry women. That is not true, because of serial monogamy - some men are able to marry several times, while some never marry.

I think it really should not be interpreted as a "test" with any scientific validity, but a classification that's useful for conversation - a bit like being able to call someone "honest" or "brave" is sometimes useful.

Like I’ve said before, some people are sexual communists while at the same time being economic capitalists. I for one am both an economic and sexual capitalist, but I complain about the inequality in the SMP not because I'm not having success in it, but because I understand that just as is the case for economic inequality, sexual inequality will have destabilizing effects on society and on my wellbeing, even if I am getting laid. Ain't nothing incoherent about that.

And the thing is that it doesn't even matter whether it's innate or not. As long as other people will react negatively to my son showing weakness, it is in my best interest to teach him to avoid being weak in public.
/r/MensRights10/03/18 06:07 PM

I don't think you quite understood what I said. A insults B. B gets angry. Should A not be taught that this may happen? A cries in public. B laughs and insults him. Should A not be taught that this may happen?
/r/MensRights10/03/18 05:10 PM

That’s an extremely damaging thing to teach men. Is it also damaging to teach them that if they insult someone, they may react angrily? Is it damaging to teach someone that society has expectations on appropriate behavior and if you deviate from these expectations, you may face harmful consequences?
/r/MensRights10/03/18 04:48 PM
16

What I don't love is when people police other people on their "manliness". I have no sons, but if I did, I would sure as shit "police their manliness" and teach them not to cry in public because other people - particularly women - will judge them as weaklings if they do. When I tell my friends to man up, it is not because I personally think there is an issue, but because I know there is nothing to be gained and everything to be lost by showing weakness in front of other people.

It'll be ironic if it's not space threats or nuclear war that does humanity in - but the sexes utterly hating each other, and refusing to budge one inch. The thing is that it won't be humanity that collapses, just the societies that go this way, such as Sweden and Germany. The Africans and Middle Easterners will be doing just fine (well, at least in this sense) for the foreseeable future.

How is that good for women? Because it ensures stability in society instead of violent revolt by the pussyless; the current setup in western countries is getting closer and closer to what is historically (and even today) observed in for example sub-Saharan Africa in terms of inequality between men, which is a major cause of the instability.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/11/17 03:41 PM

men could make their own way a hell of a lot easier than women could No, they couldn't. A working class man in the 19th century would quite normally spend 12-14 hours, 6 days per week, at the factory/mine/you name it. Do you think they would have the energy for cooking or cleaning after that? Having a household was teamwork for those not able to afford servants before the advent of washing machines etc with both parties necessary for not failing completely.

It's a precious balance, that yet somehow in my experience 99% of the people know how to handle The question is not whether I know how to behave. The question is what I should do when someone else does not (nothing, that's what). There is nothing to balance here.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/17 02:42 PM

So there's a part where you should behave correctly and the other where it's your problem if you feel threatened. Everyone should behave correctly all the time, but if someone else is shitty to a third party, too bad.

Without language there is no "two" any more thsn there is "green", "spoon" or "politics". You're conflating concepts and reality - i.e. you don't understand what it means to be socially constructed. Even more importantly, what you don't get is that results in mathematics, such as "1+1=2" are not fundamental properties of reality like the gravitational constant, but consequences of choices made by mathematicians (socially constructed!). If you do not understand how that is different from proving logical claims, you do not understand what "social construction" means. but even without any humans around one rock next to another rock are two rocks. You may need to rethink your approach to mathematics, starting from understanding that the concepts of "1" and "2" require social construction. T…

Sure even our number system is a social construct, but the fact that one and one make two isn't. I don't think you quite understand what the statement "1+1=2" is. Try reading Russell & Whitehead to see how they literally construct that statement from axioms - and before doing so, construct the concepts "1", "+", "=" and "2". Edit: you need Vol. II for the construction of arithmetics.

It's a really big problem that is bizarrely overlooked in most of the literature on gender "equality." When you realize that the "literature" is a consequence of the same evolutionary process as the concern for the tampon tax, it's no longer very bizarre.

is purely a social construct That's not true. Many of the "social" expressions of gender exist because the emphasize and attenuate the biological expressions; clumsy clothes for fancy women are a thing because they express biological femininity which ideally is vulnerable and impractical.

fourth is about abolishing gender entirely. this is not a concept that only attracts uggos The only ones who have something to gain by gender being abolished are those who have difficulty in fitting the confines of gender roles. Very feminine women have everything to gain in life by there existing beauty standards. Similarly, it is in my experience very rare to find men who are both traditionally masculine and truly interested in being feminists or "allies".

the Irish and Italian influxes into the US were remarkably similar in that they earned a reputation for being indolent freeloaders and criminals at first. The late 19th century labor markets in the US are completely different from what you have in Germany right now; there is very little chance that a significant share of the recent immigrants will be able to find jobs unless there are notable changes, such as relaxation of minimum wages so that they can be employed in no-skill positions.

You don't have to show empathy but you do have to understand that large numbers of sexless young men are dangerous to society. For example: As cohort after cohort of young Asians reach marriageable age, all of them containing too few women, a huge number of men will struggle to find partners. Most of the women don't get it since they have no issue with getting as much sex as they like and the men are either so successful (upper class hipster Chads) they can't comprehend failure either or in denial of their own nature because they've failed so much (incels who can't admit it). When it comes to my kids, I would rather have my hand on the steering wheel. Agreed. It really is quite obvious that young …

It's not a random sample of businesses. Even more importantly we don't know whether or the "success" is caused by the female management or the other way around. It could also be that the corporate culture is causing both the "success" and the female management and those firms would have been equally successful with a completely male management.

I have to question why somebody would go right to bigoted attacks if they wanted to hurt someone. Why wouldn't they? You said it yourself, they want to cause hurt - why pull the punches? Not necessarily. For someone to be really a racist and not just racist in the mind of a really dumb SJW, that person has to actually think that the insults are true or that black people are somehow inferior. If women benefit less from monogamy, why do they insist on it? The monogamy - as dictated by modern family law - they insist on is not true monogamy, but monogamy-lite, where they get to choose when it ends with very little negative consequence. Compare to 19th century, when it was both very difficult to get a divorce and very painful economically to the wife. In most places there aren't even any consequences to infidelity. Modern women do not want to commit, they want men to commit.

No, he's not. The point is that there really are some species that are monogamous in the sense that the vast, vast majority will only procreate with one other individual, ever. This does not happen at the same scale in other species, humans included. Therefore by the biologists' definition at species level humans are not monogamous, even if some individuals find success by doing so. Hence monogamy is not a "natural state" for humans.

Have you studied philosophy - the philosophy of science is a very different thing to science. Let's not get them confused. I fail to see how this is relevant. In fact, I find your argument in defense of Irigaray to be quite Sokalesque in nature; by accident, you're practicing cargo cult philosophy of matters you do…

I really don't understand what that has to do with what we're discussing. Irigaray clearly doesn't understand one bit about what she's talking about, and I'm not sure you do either. Sure, you can define the limit properly and get new results. Does that mean that you can think about fluid mechanics as "feminine"? No. No you cannot, and the fact that this kook does is pretty strong evidence that she's projecting her own insanity into her work. Also, thinking about sets and limits properly is no in…

her assertion of a sexed equation was a comment on the epistemology of the philosophy of science - that is to say within the philosophy of science qua qua, there exists a propositional logic that Irigaray is unpacking in reference to extant structures of Western thought considered axiomatic and asking if it's actually an uncertain and subjective experience Sounds a bit like this guy. Do we find "basic" maths basic simply because we're more familiar with it? Only someone who hasn't advanced beyon…

And I think it's extremely insulting and demeaning of you to think that that's somehow something less important. Also, you didn't answer the question. Can gays be fixed or not?

I don't believe in biological 'truths', and I don't believe that human behaviour and instinct is set in stone. So you think that gays can be "fixed"?

Just because there are mean and demeaning feminists doesn't mean feminism is bunk. There are very few "nice" feminists who are willing to tell the "mean" feminists to shut the fuck up and get out of the movement.

transferring blame/responsibility Accepting that not getting women is your own fault is one of the biggest tenets of TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/14 06:11 AM

TRP does not care about that in the least as the main question is optimal heterosexual strategy for men.

If the British empire hadn't been brought to it's knees by WWII, Gandhi would never had a chance. Heck, most likely he would have been assassinated and that would have been that for his movement, if only the horrors of the war hadn't killed Europe's appetite for violence. He and his approach are completely overrated.

You were the definition of snide. If he tells you he isn't snide, he isn't. You failing to grasp that point is why the conversation crashed and burned.

TRP being a huge advocate of them (including men not having feelings). No, TRP is a huge advocate of whatever works. If what breaking gender stereotypes was a valid strategy in the sexual marketplace, TRP would advocate that.

How can congress possibly represent the people if they're not representative of the population? Representatives in parliaments are typically also taller, older and better educated than the general populace. Is this also a problem? Should we have midgets, children and elementary school dropouts elected so that the parliamentarians are "representative"?

Only people who were once unattractive but became attractive know what changes they made and can have others make the same changes. Well, people who were once attractive and now are not can also be used as a data point for what to do and what not to do.

You completely misunderstood that table. That 0.8981 is the t-statistic on a parameter estimate relating the effect of an additional year of education a black woman has on the probability of the wife initiating divorce. The actual effect is 0.007. Anybody with any education in statistics would now conclude that the wife's education is actually not a statistically significant predictor of the wife initiating the divorce. And those who don't have any training in the matter can look at the stars in…

It's hard to say for sure that birth control caused a change, because in some sense, it's natural for a relationship to be hot and heavy at the outset and then settle into a routine. In my case it's very easy to tell that it wasn't routine and boredom - as soon as her period returned, we started having just as much sex as before.

Well, obviously there are going to be anecdotes going both ways, and I'll admit that I also have only a single data point. Yet I'd say that the point still stands - (some) women change preference regarding men depending on hormonal effects.

Have you ever seen (or dated) the same woman with and without birth control? My ex started taking them, and said it out quite clearly that she didn't find me attractive at all. That really made her (and me) realize that I was the person she wanted at peak fertility. It got so bad that she stopped taking them so that she'd actually want sex again.
