I live in an area with an abstinence only sex-ed class, virginity clubs for girls (school sponsored, no joke), suspension for sexting, and other batshit insane vaginas-are-for-babymaking rules. I was unaware that there was female contraception besides the pill until I was nineteen. Probably, about 30-40 girls I've graduated with are currently pregnant or already have children, less than two years out of high school, and that seems to be a big red flag for me. When I was in the hospital with my b…

I agree, maybe a good thing to suggest would be self defense classes for the ladies (and the men, if needed) to help them feel more secure while alone if feeling insecure is really what's stopping them. Remember, men! Teach your little girls how to take care of themselves, so that they won't have to be afraid of the dark!

Really? Good girls don't want sex and don't need it. At least that's what's been shoved down my throat my whole life.

That is definitely an unfair policy. I could see it if you worked in a bad neighborhood with a history of violence, but this seems safer than my suburb next to the police station. I have taken the trash out at night, alone, many a time. Even while pregnant. I'd say write an anonymous letter asking for the policy to be changed, or even modified so that the two girls can go out together. Good luck fighting the good fight! :)

As a feminist, your mere existence does not offend me. Everyone has had injustice in some way, and it's your right to fight for it. I am however offended by how hateful you (as a group) are. I have never in my life felt more unwelcome in a place to discuss the advancement of a people groups rights. I honestly have been horribly offended here. I don't see feminist discussions drenched in hatred for men. I see feminist discussions working toward safe abortions for everyone, birth control, the end …

An eleven month old baby is not a plant. My baby walks, puts everything she can touch in her mouth, falls over and bumps her head, and hugs everything that looks like a toy. Plastic bags, books, water bottles, even clothes and pretty much anything else you can imagine can be lethal to a baby. If someone leaves a dish and silverware out, not only will the baby have possibly tried to play with a heavy plate and hit herself in the head, but could have also gotten stabbed by the silverware (unless i…

I'm doing the housework because these lazy bums won't do it themselves and I can't go on a chore strike, it's unsafe for my baby. My roommates not only leave me with 4-5 hours worth of cleaning every day, but also 2 hours of driving them to work, as none of them have licenses or cars. It leaves me with only a few hours a day possible to have a job, and sometimes less than that. I'm sorry, I should have been more clear about the scheduling conflicts. I can go through almost all of the "bullshit" …

I don't mean to be confrontational, but being on the female end of those points on the list many times, they do exist. I'm not blaming any one person for that, just a whole culture wrapped up in gender norms. I've brought up myself going to work instead of my daughter's father often to my friends and family, and almost always, I get an "Are you sure you'd want to do that do her?" as if having a working mom was a handicap for kids. I wish that society didn't mark the men as breadwinners and the w…

As a woman, this is a wonderful list. I am currently staying at home 24/7, raising an 11 month old, doing ALL of the housework (for myself, two adult males, and a lesbian), driving the boys to work, and for all intents and purposes being forbidden from even getting a part time job because the men refuse to help with the "women's work". I often (maybe three times a day) get rude comments from these people about my housework not being up to par. I have left for about two weeks once, taking the bab…
