I actually am a native speaker. The only times I say "con permiso" is when I'm being a sarcastic/patronizing douche to people blocking my path. If anything, the main differences are regional use and tone/inflection. You could say "sorry" nonchalantly with an IDGAF attitude and no one will think you're actually apologizing.

Get a Mosin Nagant, they can be had for <$200. Have someone inspect it first to make sure it's serviceable and that the barrel is true. Ammo is cheap and good hunting ammo is available online. The best part is if you get a bad rifle or ruin yours, you can just get another one without spending a fortune.
