Why is viability relevant? Sure, the baby is viable outside of the womb after a certain point in development, but not viable to the extent that it could care for itself. In fact that, and the mentioned anecdotes shared by many breeders in the article, actually just increases the probability that it does occur in humans, and this is sufficient for many here to believe that it does indeed occur in humans. I don't know how you can say the statement "this is not a phenomenon that affects humans", since that has never been proven.

The point I was making is that an organism doesn't cease being considered as a separate organism just because it is in a particular spacial location or is dependent on certain factors for survival. A fetus is a separate organism because it has its own genetic sequence.
