Sure! I just sent you a PM, as my PMs are disabled for first-time approachers, to avoid unwelcome messages (FDS tip ;-) ) You should be able to reply to mine. If not, please comment here and I'll see what I can do

Yes, well done. I'm a Career Coach and this is excellent advice!

It's hard to believe it's real. No true AH specifically looking for sympathy would point out in the title that he makes a lot more, as he'd know he'd be labelled an AH straight away. That, and going on about being affluent.

You're amazing, seriously. That was incredibly hard to read and I feel for you so much. You got this. I don't know if you've read it, but someone posted a free link on here last week to Lundy Bancroft's book 'Why Does He Do That?' I seem to remember it has a practical resource and advice section specifically for these situations. I highly recommend it as an eye-opening read and for resource suggestions. Big hugs!

I just literally finished watching this because of your post. It was BRILLIANT, thank you. I actually had an on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off (you get the picture) 2 year ridiculousness with a guy I loved who came across (and literally even dressed like) this guy. I thought at the time that despite not being physically attracted at first, that maybe it would be smarter to just go for a quieter librarian-ish type because maybe finally I'd have a bit of stability in a relationship. WRONG!!!!!!! He was …

Thank you for the link! I've been reading it on the bus to and from school runs. It's an incredible eye opener

All that slap slap slapping! It was oddly satisfying (or 'slapifying' ;-) )

I used to think 'You've Got Mail' was romantic (and Tom Hanks is great in everything). Rewatched it on Netflix recently and cringed/got massively p*ssed off at how he ultimately enabled her business to go under, treated her pretty inconsiderately much of the time, yet she still ends up with him

This just made me chuckle on a bus. An older woman sitting opposite just raised an eyebrow with a slight smile. It's like she knows in her wisdom, and agrees ☺

I have to say that I agree. While I totally see where it's coming from, I think the blanket 'pick me' or 'men are trash' are counterproductive (and fit neatly into the bottom 2 levels of this interesting diagram). On the other hand, the posts and comments that focus on positive empowerment and analysis are, I feel, what FDS does tremendously well.

She's gorgeous! I would just drop the 'even at' bit, because it implies it's unusual, when feeling and looking good at any age should be the norm ☺

Especially when they don't ask for guidance but rub a weird part of you that isn't your clit and you're like wtf is happening. LOL so true

I have a friend like this, too. He's had plenty of opportunities over the years to 'do something' if he wanted to (especially as I had a big crush on him when I was going through my divorce a couple of years ago; I don't anymore). He's never once tried anything, even though he knew how I felt back then. I think it's possibly because he's friendly with my ex-husband who lives in another country, but still. We meet up a lot for coffee/meals and message each other all the time about politics/jokes/…

It sounds like he had a drink or two when he originally wrote to her, and wanted to confess he fancied her. Then as the time got closer he got a bit freaked out and made up something about seeing someone else, even though he hadn't confessed anything to OP about his feelings for her yet.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
