A shit-test is to see how secure you are in yourself as to whether or not you will qualify yourself to her. For example, if a girl says "You look like a player", qualifying yourself would be "No I'm not!", whereas passing this "shit-test" would be like "What, basketball player? Yeah, sometimes." I'm not much into it, so I'm not going to be much help. Iirc building rapport is to find common ground, find things where you share interest which I guess could be like following: "You like x-type of coffe? I have tried x-type coffe before and I thought...". But don't stick me to it.
