Yeah man, it is sad that it has to come down to that rather than a natural reciprocation. Not saying some marriages don’t have that, but I agree that the majority require men to assert dominance and use leverage to get their needs met. The alternative is to get run over.

It definitely does. That’s a nice reminder to use more self-care. I find myself thinking often about lack of prioritization. There is part of me that feels like I am asking for too much. Perhaps an alternative path is to seek out more stimulation that prioritizes myself externally rather than seeking that from with my marriage if my wife is unable to provide that level of support.

I agree that it’s difficult to draw new boundaries. The part that’s most frustrating to me is my wife saying she is willing to work on this change with me, while her behavior is quite ego centric and often more superficial than genuine. Another layer that is my contribution is my occupation. I work in mental health and carry this unhelpful belief that it’s my job to fix the marriage. I haven’t. Just looked up it up and it sounds familiar. Part of the current conflict is related to boundary setting. My fear is that the precedent has been set. Her family seeks willing parties and most marriages look the same with her siblings. Deeply reinforced. I grabbed the audible version with hopes that it will provide some opportunity for further boundary implementation.
