It’s not even just a men thing. If you want more babies, you should also introduce a 30 hour/4 day work week, raise minimum wage, and offer plenty of paid maternity/paternity leave (preferably both in an equal manner). When people are economically stressed, they don’t want to raise kids.

No, they didn’t use the exact phrase “women most affected”, that’s just a catch-all phrase used by the sub for a phenomenon we see all the time, where problems that predominantly hurt men are phrased as if they hurt women. In this case, high suicide rates in women are not “unprecedented”, because they’re still lower than the suicide rates in men. Men have been and still are the most affected by suicide, but this article is trying to phrase it as a women’s problem.

Right now, there are more female voters than male voters. Those female voters are electing politicians who write laws and policies that hurt men and benefit women (for examples, feel free to browse the sub. Any law that’s hurting us was put in place partly because of the power of female voters). So pretty much every time men have their rights taken away nowadays is because of women.

I didn’t mean to accuse you of anything, no worries! My understanding is that if you go back far enough (say 80 years like you said) divorce rates do go down, but I’d be skeptical how much of that is just because divorce wasn’t always even legal. Overall I think there are better things to worry about, like infidelity and abuse rates, rather than divorce rates, since many divorces are justified but abuse obviously isn’t.

There’s far less research and funding for diseases that only affect men than diseases that affect women. The issue most people have is that when a disease affects both, it was historically often studied first using male test subjects. This is not the bias you think it is

I’m anti-draft, but not anti-selective service (US centric, sorry). The reason is that as soon as we have another major war, there will probably be a draft whether I like it or not, and the selective service is the only way to determine ahead of time what that draft will look like. If we abolish the selective service instead of including women in it, then as soon as we need a draft it’ll be only men anyway.

I shave my head, legs, arms, pits, balls, and enough of my face to keep it well kept. I also used to shave my face, so I know enough for comparison. Shaving legs is by far the easiest and least prone to discomfort. It also doesn’t need to be done as frequently as a face or head before noticeable growth. So yeah, she’s crazy

Even if it were framed that way, the Texas law would default to carrying out a pregnancy and the California law would default to punishing the risk of a pregnancy. The California law is much better in that regards, because if there’s disagreement about whether to raise a child, the last thing we should do is force a woman to get pregnant and a man to provide 18 years of child support (not to mention the shit the child will have to deal with)

To add to this, for any lurkers who don’t typically identify with “left-wing” politics, this sub is certainly not concretely left-wing, despite the name. The fact of the matter is that anyone who supports men’s rights advocacy has had enough experiences to know there are issues with the left, to say the least. As such, I expect anyone here is welcoming to people of any political leanings, as long as you’re supportive of men’s rights and can keep an open mind.

The sample sizes are plenty big to be accurate for the nation as a whole (assuming the survey wasn’t conducted improperly), but there’s no way the statistics are there for individual states.
