This was a good read. In some way, it makes me understand that even after every improvement that I've made over the years, that I need to sit back and realize that there is still so much more to do. Consistent progress is my life goal. Right now that involves finishing college and a few key areas of my life. But consistent progress is something that will always be at the forefront. The goals will be attained and altered as needed, but I'm content when I'm progressing.

Thank you. Sounds like it boils down to a idgaf attitude paired with knowing your value.

Do your mind expanding on your 'contest with nothing' point?

A bit off topic, but where would one find one of these $50/hr shit wage jobs? I'm currently working on RN prereqs to get out of retail.

You present a lot of good logic. It's refreshing to get away from the groupthink that happens a lot in this sub and hear a different perspective on AWALT tendencies

Can you expand on how one would correctly 'express emotion without expressing weakness?' Sometimes I feel as if everytime I'm angry or not openly happy (both are rare, but it happens), that I'm looked upon as losing frame. How would I express something like this in-frame?

I've experienced the opposite. Muay Thai isn't the most popular sport in America, so the gyms I've been too tend to be structured and have lots of hands on instruction.

I love it. I've been doing it 5 days a week for 1 year now. There is always something new to learn, always something to improve. It keeps me mentally and physically sharp. I definitely recommend it

Late twenties here. I train in Muay Thai 5 days a week, mon-fri. Add in meal prep and that fills up my free time those days. Saturday and Sunday are spent socializing with friends and the ltr. I usually get one event in most weekends; hike, concert, site seeing, etc. I'd like to start my master's degree when I'm not so consumed with Muay Thai

I just want to make sure that I'm setting boundaries in a way that doesn't make me break frame. So, in your words, I need to ensure the positive perspective and leadership frame of 'how I appear' *while minimizing any weakness that results (in this example, from me communicating my displeasure of her planned actions that night.)

No doubt. I keep my eyes open, never trust 100%, and am always willing to walk at the first red flag. She knows this last one clearly, which is why she keeps me posted and shot down the drinking plans as soon as i showed my displeasure. I just want to make sure I'm laying my boundaries in a way that doesn't come across as overly controlling or fearful

Sounds like solid advice. I know that forbidding their friendship is going too far, and would only fall back negatively on me. But her friend is such a shitty example and influence, that I definitely feel the need to set boundaries.

I'll be competing in my first Muay Thai bout in March. My training is peaking well, mainly due to achieving mental calmness during sparring and keeping up a heavier offensive pace. I'm realising how much the mental aspect of the sport affects everything. I resumed reading yesterday after a month long lay off. I need to Netflix less and read more. I caught my gf being somewhat shady. After contemplating ending the relationship, I decided that this screw up may be a one time correctable incident. …

Thanks for the 'a ha' moment. A girl I've been seeing for a few months recently said those 3 words. God damn did it feel good, and my natural instinct was to drift into her orbit and put her on a pedestal. But I was able to resist that urge and have been able to keep things in a red pill perspective. I am still able to enjoy her saying it, but without all the Disney-esque mind fuckery that used to come along with that type of situation

Jesus. How butt hurt can you be? This guy admits his mistakes and is actively learning from them, and you want to bitch about something irrelevant to the post? Sounds like you're the beta

Bingo! I'm also someone that gets caught up being either overly interested or too detached. There is a fine line between them, and I'm currently working on finding the balance between them.
