Here's a hint: Fiction can have many purposes, including both you mentioned and about a million more. Furthermore, your comment was specifically about video games. Are we then to understand that all video games are pure escapism and all works in other types of fiction are not - instead confirming to the wide-as-a-thread purpose of fiction you so helpfully provided?
