I interpreted the numbers differently. That the 0.5% figure was the women who were victims of partner violence, as opposed to women who were at the ER for violence in general. Which means about 1.35% of female visits to the ER were due to experiencing violence of some kind.

I recall reading a post on reddit from a male obgyn a while ago, and he was saying that there is nothing sexual about it at all. My understanding is that it was added to a sort of "do not play" list by the student union, and would only apply to student union/university run events. That's fair, and I definitely get that. The ad could have easily been worded in such a way, but my question to you would be, would that ad have been as effective? I don't think it would have been. The ad as it stands has a certain amount of shock value, much more so then "Every year thousands of men die because they won't go to the doctor." And while it may be cheap and easy to just use cultural perceptions to get your message across, at least in this case it was noble.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that everybody was aware of the fact that the desire to procreate (ie have sex) was a natural urge. I also thought everybody knew about all the rape in the animal kingdom. How dolphins will rape, and the rape culture in mallards, or the ever vicious traumatic insemination.
