Sure, if we normalize the subset for socioeconomic status, we will get a different number, but will be entirely new metric That's my point exactly, because that new metric would be the one that matters. If you're going to argue that one race is inherently more violent that another, you need to control for all factors until race is the only determining variable. Sure, environment is a factor, but I've seen studies that accounted for it. Can you provide one? I've never heard of any that did. As fa…

A congested, impoverished urban environment is conducive to the types of crimes you brought up, yes. The psychological effects of overcrowding are well-researched. And yes, I'm saying modern black subculture is toxic. We agree there. However, that subculture is a recent phenomenon that isn't caused by genetic race. Poverty, liberal welfare policies and the war on drugs basically created the ultraviolet ghettos that we know today. For an example, Google the "Harlem Renaissance" and read about wha…

Excellent post. I realize I've fallen into this mentality with my current LTR somewhat - good reminder to keep it all in perspective.

What types of areas do poor white people live in? What types of areas do poor black people live in? Poor whites: rural areas Poor blacks: urban areas Which of those do you think is more likely to produce violent crime due to overcrowding? In addition, culture plays a huge role. Black kids who grow up in areas without a black "subculture" perform just as well as white kids. Middle class blacks do not commit disproportionately more crime than middle class whites. By ignoring class, culture, and re…

I'll give you a hint as to what actually causes this: socioeconomic background.

That doesn't refute what the guy said. No one is arguing whether IQ is heritable, the issue is whether race is a determining factor. That study you referenced failed to control for environment before adoption, which is a crucial time in psychological development. Adding in the small sample size, I don't think it really proves anything.

Culture is everything. Gavin McInnes mentioned the inbreeding thing on the JRE podcast and I thought he was full of shit, but it's all true. Blew my mind.

Many of those graphics, like the violence statistics one, cherry pick numbers and imply that race is the only factor that differentiates the perps from the victims. I wonder what the statistic is when you normalize for socioeconomic class? Do you think upper/middle class blacks are still 200x more likely to assault whites, simply because of their race? Same goes for the IQ bell curve. A) IQ is a shit metric to begin with, and B) blacks are disproportionately from poor backgrounds, so they have l…

There's an unfortunate overlap between this sub and the Breitbart/Infowars cult, which has become more apparent ever since last year. Downvote them and point out their flawed reasoning as necessary.

I tried to reply but the auto-mod bot deleted my comment for using a link. Just google "multiple partners unhappy marriage" and the first few results are what you're looking for. A psychology study was done a few years ago on this subject.

Perception is more important than reality. Office life is just like politics, and the #1 Rule of Power is to not make those above you look bad, especially in public. If you do confront them it has to be framed in such a way that they can easily save face.

First of all, you're taking this way too seriously and overthinking it, and that's part of your problem. Second, high school girls are much less likely to hook up in a ONS kind of way, and much more likely to put out if you're in a relationship or FWB situation with them. So just calm down, have fun, meet new people and expand your social circle. Join clubs and shit. I lost my virginity to a girl I met in drama club, of all places. Just try to meet new girls and don't come across as desperate to…

100% true. I once hit a club with a friend of mine and it perfectly summed up the lessons here. He's obsessed with putting on a cool "character" when trying to get girls, whereas I was in an LTR at the time so I gave no fucks about how the night would go and just wanted to have fun. Long story short he was too afraid of rejection to approach any hot girls and ended up making out with a fatty because it was the first attention he got. I ended up dancing with a cute girl (oops) after we made eye c…

I meant shit tests in general. OP's case is a little different. I'd say besides the shit tests it falls into the dualistic sexual nature of women - secure a beta provider for resources, get fucked by alphas for the tingles. And yes, she's extra toxic and sociopathic on top of all that. I'm not justifying her behavior in any way, OP's friend should obviously gtfo as soon as possible.
/r/TheRedPill05/04/17 11:46 AM

Shit tests and the like are designed to literally "test" a man's mettle - if it degrades him too much over time she'll eventually get bored and the relationship will suffer, but if he never lets it faze him it proves subconsciously that he has his shit together and is therefore a good partner. So I think it is evolutionary in that sense. The goal isn't to actually degrade him, it's to see if he's strong enough to brush it off.

100%. Actual rape victims don't go and date their attacker later on. She's full of shit. And her ex bf is a schmuck for believing her.

Agreed - for those with actual anxiety and shit self-esteem, amplifying the already abundant negative thoughts towards oneself is not helpful. Positive self-image is incredibly important, while working to improve one's flaws (but not feel like shit for them). People who already have normal self esteem take this for granted.

You did well to break it off, but you don't need to specifically tell her "don't talk to me anymore." It's unnecessarily dramatic. Just break off contact and ignore her - clearly she's into other guys so it's not worth your time. No hard feelings, just "next."

As others have said, look elsewhere besides Tinder. My current LTR and I met through a music group we were both involved in at college, for example. Good girls are hard to come by but they're not extinct.

Excellent point. If you read and internalize all this without taking action, or if you only take action on certain parts of it, you're cheating yourself and it will make you feel worse than just going all-in.

I had a girl I was fucking straight up tell me I "always have the best clothes." Most of the guys in our overlapping social circles were lazy when it came to fashion, so by putting in a basic amount of effort I already stood out. It's absolutely one of the easiest ways to increase your SMV and self-esteem.

Yeah, that's what NoFappers never talk about. Your body sometimes just rubs one out anyway, especially if you're on the younger side. Occasionally doing it yourself, then, isn't gonna change anything and is probably healthier tbh.

I prefer NoPorn to NoFap. Fapping every week or so is not gonna kill you or make you less masculine. But fapping to porn every day does drain your energy, in my experience. What NoFappers never address is the idea that fapping is somehow depressing but sex is great. Physiologically they are almost the same (from your body's perspective). So why is one "bad" but the other not? NoFap quickly becomes another form of putting pussy on a pedestal in that sense. Being able to get yourself off every now…

You're right. OP is missing the point, or perhaps needs to word his argument differently. Stoicism is intended to maximize mental peace and happiness by prioritizing things that are actually important in your life and having a better perspective on what you can or can't control. Rejecting happiness entirely is not the way to go.
/r/TheRedPill08/03/17 10:20 PM
1

Making happiness your only goal is ineffective, yes. But happiness is not your "worst enemy." Far from it. Stoicism, meditation, less social media and regular exercise are all advocated for by TRP and are all proven to increase your happiness. Happiness should be something you want to achieve (as any human does), but you have to implement practical changes in your life to get there. That's where TRP comes in.

Yep. Spot on. I accidentally dropped a plate by hinting too strongly over text. We had already fucked, so I figured it was fine, but she told me after we did that she didn't mean to take things so fast. I reassured her at the time and it was all good (we fucked again right after that talk) but since she was clearly conscious of not feeling like a slut, coming on too strong over text later wasn't a good move.

Work your upper body as much as you can with lifts that don't require standing up. But prioritize healing your foot, and don't try to rush it. It will be 10x worse if you break it again by pushing yourself too hard. It'll heal in due time, and when it does, then you can go all in.

Great point. Not enough people around here have read Models by Mark Manson, but that's basically the point he makes in the whole book. Be upfront about your intentions and you'll find things go a lot smoother than trying to be conniving and manipulative.

Studies have shown that the more sex partners someone has, the less likely they are to feel happy and secure in a long term relationship. The effect is much greater in women, though iirc it can manifest in men too.

Introvert means you get mental energy from being alone. Extrovert means you get mental energy from being around other people. It says nothing about social skills in general.

Overanalysis is the biggest weakness of TRP, in my opinion. I missed an opportunity with a girl at a party once because I spent too much time thinking "what theory should I apply here??" instead of just going for it in the moment. Won't make that mistake again. I appreciate that this post addresses that.

Beware concern trolling. The way I look at it is, if you're born ugly, TRP gives you two choices. Be an ugly dude who's ripped, well dressed and awesome in every way except looks. Yeah LMR is pretty easy to deal with if you don't let it faze you. Maintain a fun, aloof attitude and it'll probably work out. Sometimes women just don't want to feel like a slut, so you have to help their hamster spin for them and put them at ease.

Depressing? Why? Most guys will not put in the effort to improve themselves. Simply by lifting, dressing well, and practicing game you're aleady doing more than a lot of guys ever will.

There are two possibilities: She's into you but she doesn't want to seem like a slut, because she wants to seriously date you. Contrary to popular belief on TRP, there are still girls out there who wait for sex until they're serious with someone. If you want a serious relationship, that's not a bad thing. But if you don't want a serious relationship, it means you two are looking for different things and it's not worth going forward. If #1 isn't true, she's avoiding sex because she doesn't have e…

I agree. I've seen backstabbing BP "friends" go so far as to imply the womanizing types are taking advantage of women, with heavy implications of sexual assault and general creepiness. That's not a crowd anyone needs to associate with.

Yes, you can. When it's in an established relationship like an LTR or marriage, it's called dread game. It's not done to pout and whine, it's to take a degree of your life back and show that you're not dependent on her for your happiness or social life (and, implicitly, your sex life).

I also feel like classes are just classes, I always learn what I need to do good on exams but nothing deeper. I never say oh this topic is too interesting let me study about it by myself today That also describes me perfectly, and I just got a job as a software engineer at a Fortune 500 company. I was also a computer science major, so I know how you feel. There will always be people in your classes who seem like they know everything. That happened to me too. It's normal to have doubts about major decisions. Here's how I think of it: do I love my major every day? No. Is it interesting? Yes. Do I want to spend the rest of my life doing it? Maybe, maybe not. But will it make me successful and put me in a good place for the future? Yes. That's what matters to me. Once I pay off my loans and have some money saved up, I can potentially choose a new career or pursue my passions more. But I chose the college track, so I'm going to g…

Good post. It's incredible how much can change in your life by just deciding to think about it differently. Suddenly your mundane job might seem more engaging. That's only if you're sexually interested in her and you're hoping to get something out of helping her (like a Nice Guy would). If you're not interested in her and you're just doing it to be a good person then it's not beta. And in fact, coming over to a girls place (or her to yours) to help her with something is a classic pretense for a hook up. It all depends on the context.

Someone else linked that article to me as well. Unfortunately the the article doesn't back up any of its claims. It's just a survey of how many people watch porn, and that professor claiming it's bad, but he doesn't provide any facts to back it up. If someone feels real benefits from quitting porn, by all means do that. I just don't like the dogmatic acceptance of PIED's existence when it hasn't been supported by any science. There's a tendency towards absolutism around here, and I feel it's wor…

a lone, naked woman didn't compare to my powerful imagination You sure you weren't just anxious? That blows my mind. I'd buy the "everybody is different" thing, but in that case (if you'll pardon my slight concern trolling) redpill needs to drop the narrative that porn is terrible for all men. It should be, "if you have ED and it's not health or anxiety related, try cutting back on porn," not "if you watch porn you will get ED and be a beta," like it is now.
/r/TheRedPill05/01/17 05:42 PM

Anecdotes and experiences are what create the basis for scientific inquiry That's true, but then the corresponding studies have to back them up. All real studies that have come out so far have not backed them up.

3-4 times a day That's a shitty benchmark. No one does that in their normal life. Also, I've had days where I ejaculate 3 times in 12 hours (from sex and masturbation combined) and still get a boner if I'm naked in bed with my gf. The boners don't go away, my dick just gets sore. ED isn't even part of the equation.
/r/TheRedPill05/01/17 05:29 PM

Hypercharged ultra maximum stimulation of one's arousal systems via whatever hardcore pornography they need to get a boner definitely makes normal women less arousing. Does it really? I've never experienced that. Having a real, naked woman in bed is always more exciting than pixels on a screen could ever be.

If you are asking me for reports of doctors who are prescribing or being asked to prescribe ED, than you are simply uninformed You are correct. I have not encountered anything that supports your claim, so I am "uninformed." I'm asking you to cite your sources. If you don't, then your points carry no weight. no one is claiming if you watch porn once you will suddenly have ED. It is for this reason the studies you cite are lacking, at best, since this is the test hypothesis. The test hypothesis re…

That link you posted to the communication piece is gold. I would add the caveat that certain types of communication are beneficial, but not in the typical bluepill way of thinking. For example, one time I hooked up with a girl from Tinder and she slept over. The morning after, I was horny again so I started initiating when she woke up. At the last second, when I was on top of her ready to go, she got a weird look on her face and wouldn't let me go further - so I stopped, rolled off of her, and s…

Porn becomes a compulsion if you have other problems in your life such as stress and anxiety. But if you treat those other problems, the porn "addiction" will often be reduced or eliminated. Imo, porn is the symptom, not the disease.
/r/TheRedPill04/01/17 03:34 PM
7

You're absolutely right. I understand cutting back on masturbating to clear your head once in a while, but swearing it off completely is weird and unhealthy. As is shaming yourself for it. It's just like the devoutly religious saying masturbation is a sin - different reasoning but the same cycle of shame and self loathing.

Anecdotal evidence is meaningless because it's self-reported. People with other health issues (physical or mental) that cause ED will latch on to porn as the "problem" because it's an easy scapegoat and they read on the internet that it's bad. Then they'll go online and tell people they have PIED. What does that prove? Also, I'd like to see those reports of doctors prescribing ED meds to young guys, because I've never heard of that happening. Any doctor giving viagra to men under 30 is crazy. Ev…

Stoicism doesn't mean you can't be happy. In fact, Stoicism suggests you should be happy more often than not, because you shouldn't let negative things get to you. I suggest reading up on it, you'll see what I mean. Marcus Aurelius is a great start.

I'm just going to leave this study here regarding Porn Induced ED: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jsm.12853/abstract TL;DR: it doesn't exist. That doesn't necessarily negate the rest of what you said, but I wish people would stop associating porn with ED. There's 0 scientific evidence to back that claim up.
/r/TheRedPill04/01/17 12:00 AM

Not unless you're jacking off twice a day or more. Which most people aren't. Causes of ED that are much more likely include: old age, smoking, drinking, lack of exercise, being overweight, and anxiety/mood issues. If you clear yourself of everything on that list and still have ED, then maybe try jacking off less. But chances are it has nothing to do with it.

We often act like we're preaching radical ideologies on TRP, but most of this stuff is common sense when you put it in perspective. e.g. "don't be a pushover and work for your own success." Glad your friend found his way.

There's no scientific evidence to support the anti-porn arguments, and in fact most of it seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Guys hear porn causes ED, they know they watch porn, they get worried about ED, then their worry turns to anxiety and it kills their boner when they go to have sex. (I know this because that's exactly what happened to me). It was never porn's fault to begin with. I'm also interested in knowing what he's observed. The anti-porn crusade often gets mixed up in the pseudoscience of NoFap, which makes me skeptical to say the least. Not to mention studies like this one which find no correlation between porn use and ED - which is one of the main arguments against porn in the first place.
/r/TheRedPill03/01/17 05:26 PM

The connection between porn and erectile dysfunction remains scientifically unproven according to two independent studies. Here's one of them: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jsm.12853/abstract I'm not sure why the myth remains around here that this is a real issue.
/r/TheRedPill03/01/17 05:16 PM

In my experience, the stress of shaming myself into quitting is far more detrimental than porn itself ever could be. Don't beat yourself up over it.
/r/TheRedPill03/01/17 05:13 PM

It's pretty strange. Especially all the "porn induced ED" stuff, which has been scientifically disproven recently. Yet it remains a myth on redpill that if you watch porn your dick won't work.

Over 50% of women can't get an orgasm from penetration alone, so that's not uncommon. When you're getting it on and you want a blowjob, just tell her "you should suck me off." Or before you go down on her, say "me first." Or after you do her, say "my turn." It doesn't have to be complicated, just tell her. If she refuses at that point it's a separate issue.

Random people on the internet aren't going to answer that question for you. If it's worth it for you, because you enjoy it, then the answer is yes. Either way, don't sweat it. Side note: if you feel like you're trying really hard to get sex, then you're not doing it right. It should be a fun pursuit in your spare time, not a monumental effort that consumes your life. Most, if not all, of my sexual experiences have come about when I'm just having fun in social situations instead of "trying" to ge…
