It was not capitalism that caused his and the others' death. It was abnormal weather conditions. Places that are accustomed to such conditions don't suffer when they are hit. Or, not so much. Places that built for the opposite - intentionally embracing 'free' cooling and building to allow homes and businesses to exhaust the far more common heat simply cannot be prepared for sub-zero temperatures.
