"Thomas was arrested in February after she attacked Mr Lee, a stranger, in Bar So nightclub in Bournemouth." Seems pretty clear to me.

Not gf, but a random person that got mad he didn't say thank you. Read the article.

No one will downvote you because this post is a month old, so everyone has moved on.

First time misdemeanors receive ROR bonds, not felonies. Even many misdemeanors require bond to be posted, unless there is limited space at the jail.

I wish I could tell you that you're wrong. I see SIS probation in her future.

Glad she was arrested, but released on her own recognizance is bullshit for a felony assault. She should have to post bail like anyone else that commits a felony.

It says right in the article she plead guilty to a misdemeanor. I don't know how this is an argument. Misdemeanors carry jail sentences as well.

It's a misdemeanor. Even if it was a felony, many felons can still vote. Again, it is not a felony, and most employers do not care about misdemeanors. She will not have any rights stripped away, except for while imprisoned and on probation/parole. Also, I highly doubt she even serves the full year as this is a nonviolent misdemeanor.

Last weekend I went to Sedalia, MO to visit family and we ate at the local pub. They actually had a mens restroom and a unisex restroom...no womens. I was quite surprised.

You and I could not agree more. Happy to find another rational person. I also like your beef and cheddar sandwiches.

But you agree that I'm arguing for a rational justice system? I'll take that as a win, but I also agree with what you said. It would just be nice if equality didn't mean both sexes get shit on equally, and instead became a rational thought process on why women are seen as less of a threat than men, and then making the necessary changes to the justice system. I know people might misconstrue what I'm saying as being a pedophile sympathizer, but in no way is this woman a pedophile. Pedophiles like …

Oh, I expect them. It's just so funny how quickly people forget how things were when they were teens and in their young 20s. Personally, I was dumbass at both 16 and my early 20s.

I don't think it's a very moral decision on her part, especially if she wielded her power to force the boys into sex. I just don't think it's "child" rape. I don't when we decided teens were children.

I agree with you, but we shouldn't argue she deserves jail too. We should argue the male teacher deserves probation like she will most likely receive. Also in a case like this where one person is in a position of authority, like a teacher, why not give them probation and yank their teaching license. Give the person rehabilitation and they wasted time and money getting a teaching degree that is useless now. Seems like justice to me.

I know there is injustice because if this were a man he would not be afforded the same treatment. However, I don't think she is a child rapist. There really isn't a huge difference between a 23 year old and a 16 and 17 year old. We should really be focusing on sex offense reform for everyone.

It's not even equality I'm talking about. I've been groped by women at parties and sexually harassed at work. Guess what. It's not a big deal. Laugh it off and walk away. Everyone is a goddam victim these days and everyone else bandwagons #metoo

This whole social justice thing has gone way too far. Eventually people will just be terrified to say anything at all.

Pedophilia is an attraction to prebuscent children. Hebephilia is an attraction to teens younger than 18, but post-pubescent. I'm not sure the age of the victim in this case, just pointing out the difference.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
