2	My girlfriend wants us married, but is fine without any legal ceremony. Are there potential problems I'm missing? I would bet a judge in California could easily rule your 'not legal' marriage is ACTAULLY legal in a divorce case years from now. Here is why: Laws change so do interpretations. If you wife in the divorce claims "I thought it was a legal marriage" then the judge (who is likely to be liberal in liberal CA) can rule 'its a real marriage'. 1	Thoughts on moving to L.A. I live in L.A. , I'm also in software. There are TONS of jobs here due to so many corporate headquarters. Google 'silicon beach' - the santa monica area has lots of start ups, cloud companies, mobile companies. Still there are far more software jobs up in the Bay Area. However, rents are probably at least $1000 a month cheaper in LA vs Bay Area. But salaries are lower by maybe the same amount.
