Not a dumb question. I saw one source that said the top three causes of death in order for pregnant women are birth complications, accidents, and homicide. They used to think homicide ranked lower, because they weren't noting if a woman was pregnant on the death records. Once they started keeping track of that information, that number jumped to 20% of deaths. This article states that homicide actually ranks FIRST, even before birth complications. I'm not sure which source is correct, but homicid…

That's for the best. My parents were cautious and understood what men were capable of. They taught me boundaries and suspicious behavior to look out for from a young age. It kept me safe, while many of my friends weren't as lucky.

Here's a Wikipedia article that goes into the statistics. Homicide was found to be a leading cause of death in pregnant women, at around 20%.

Looks like you and I have different morals then. I could never worship a god who is so incredibly less moral than I am, (and everyone else I know). Religion was invented by man, it is not real. You don't see the benefit of abolishing it? I just watched you tie yourself in knots to excuse rape during war time. It's just not true. It's incredibly important for us to believe in reality, not ideologies invented by men. I was where you were once, maybe look into researching evolution just to expand y…

Except the examples I gave WERE considered instructions from god. Mostly from Deuteronomy. Literally instructions from the bible and from "god". Women as spoils of war: Deuteronomy 20:12-14 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And y…

You said that nowhere in the bible were men instructed to be slovenly, despotic, cruel rapists. I gave you a few examples that contradict that.

The bible, and the god of the bible, were invented by men. Women are sold like cattle. Stoned for being raped of they don't yell loud enough. Considered spoils of war for men of god to use for themselves. Man created god in his own image, not the other way around. Violent, misogynistic, and without a moral compass, yet believing himself to be perfection and love.

That's because anger is self protective, it's not a bad thing. You've realized that his actions were damaging you, and your mind is reprogramming you to have the right response. Think about it as building your emotional defenses. If you feel like the anger is distracting, try leaning into it and acknowledging it. Sometimes our body will keep giving us a feeling if it thinks we haven't got the memo. How to acknowledge your anger: Agree with it. You're right to be angry, don't feel conflicted abou…

When I was a kid, I used to make up cool fantasy stories and try to get other people to believe them. I knew they weren't real, but if I could convince someone else they were real, then it ALMOST felt true somehow. I wanted them to be real, and knew that was the closest I could get. So well put. My family and I got out of a controlling religion, and I'm watching a couple of people I care about go through a spiritual phase. There's no reasoning with them, and they're so easily manipulated because they think everything is a "sign" to base their decisions on. It's like they still need someone or something to tell them what to do. I just can't be around people who don't understand reality, it's honestly a bit terrifying.

No, it's not. Just because something isn't empowering you, doesn't mean it's oppressing you. There are plenty of things we do and decisions we make that are neutral acts, or just for fun, or because we like something, or because it's necessary. This "everything a woman does is empowering if she chooses it" is a libfem talking point. I just took a luxurious bubble bath. 10/10, would do it again. Great decision. But it didn't EMPOWER me. Edit: to put more succinctly, just because it gives you plea…

That's exactly what's happening. I saw this comedian posted somewhere on this sub, and she mentions a few of your key points as well. I can't watch shows with sexual assault, it causes enough rage in me to be unhealthy. I sometimes look online for spoilers before I watch something, just to check if a woman gets assaulted in it or not. Too many times, the answer is yes. And yet, I've RARELY seen a man be sexually assaulted on screen. The bottom line is that men love to watch rape, so they film it…

Your other comment got deleted for some reason, so I'll reply here: Yeah, I'm sensitive to this as well because I've seen where it goes. Women's empathy has been taken advantage of by men in the feminist movement to the point that now modern day feminism serves MEN more than women. Men can be allies, sure. But their voices don't belong in the movement. Feminism is for women, and must center women. The history of patriarchy is one of men commiting femicide, rape, withholding rights, forcing repro…

Glad I'm not the only one! One of the issues with libfem mentality is they try to erase patterns and perpetrators because it hurts people's feelings.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/11/20 04:30 AM
23

Well, the patriarchy is a system designed by men to benefit men. I get that there are men that have feminist values, and women who internalize the misogyny they are raised with, but let's not overlook that fact. Men created patriarchy to benefit themselves exclusively. It didn't just appear.

Honestly, being here is such a breath of fresh air. I have always loved women, not just in a romantic sense, but a true deep care about the well-being of women and girls. It's so hard to see someone you care about put themselves through that, and yeah, you definitely don't want that for yourself. Maybe a weird suggestion, but what about setting an arbitrary dating limit? Like "I'm not allowed to date until there is a successful COVID vaccination" or something like that. I notice that FDS does a great job at calling out libfem bullshit, but I worry that some members slide back into equally as damaging conservative ideas. Being a "feminine receiver" sounds dangerous, there's a reason men fought tooth and nail to prevent women from having their own money and careers.

I don't think that you're avoidant. I think that you're insecure about your weight, and you think that's the reason that you can't find a guy you're into who's also into you. The truth is that it's just hard for women to find good men in general. I've known several women with model body types dating ugly men with shitty personalities who somehow also manage to cheat on them, but they put up with it because they "want a family someday" It's not you, it's just bleak for straight women out there.

The cultists are not the good guys omg. As someone who grew up in a cultish religion, it's pretty fucking terrifying when I see women watch a movie about incestuous death/sex cult who brainwash a young woman into becoming their next broodmare and kill off every tie that she has to the outside world and somehow think that the CULT is the GOOD GUY cuz her boyfriend was mean. Like "oh they were nice to her and she got to wear a flower crown! She has community now!" No shit! That's how cults operate…

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/09/20 05:41 PM

Lol, I don't think anyone's going to go on a murdering spree. Like I said, I'm also glad that her boyfriend got the fire bear treatment. What I am concerned about is how a lot of women seem as easily brainwashed by the cult tactics as Dani was. The incestuous murder cult that love-bombed her while they killed off all her connections to the outside world is not an example of "finding a community that supports you"
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/09/20 04:38 PM
25

Exactly this. Most cults target women, and the methods they use are very well represented in the film. They're a murderous and incestuous cult, and have no issue with drugging people and forcing them in sexual situations. Dani was a target from the beginning because they need new women to breed with and keep the cult alive. By the end of the movie, they've killed off every connection she has to the outside world. She's not in a good place lol.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/09/20 04:30 PM
37

The message of the story is how cults can easily groom and recruit women who have tenuous relationships (dead or distant family, shitty boyfriends, poor self esteem). I'm glad her boyfriend got burned in a bear, but she is very much the victim of a sex cult and it blows my mind that people don't see that. I had no idea that people saw this as a happy ending until a saw this review I don't know if "victim of a sex cult" is a great idea for an FDS mascot...

I love self exploration as well, and think it's incredibly important. I just don't think astrology ever counts as self exploration. We are the way we are because of a combination of our genetics and our experiences. The stars and planets have no bearing on our personalities, and the attributes we assign to the signs and planets are completely made up. We could change it all tomorrow, and it wouldn't make a difference. It's superstition.

No the OP, but the common problems with condoms would be that: They aren't 100% effective, even if used correctly. If you're looking for absolutely zero risk, they're going to fall short. You're relying on men to be in charge of the protection. The amount of stories I've heard of men poking holes in condoms to trap women, or removing them during sex, (stealthing), because they don't want to wear one are TOO COMMON. Legal prostitution is not good for prostitutes. 89 percent of prostitutes want to escape the industry, and countries that legalize prostitution see an INCREASE in trafficking. Demand goes up, but supply never matches. The Nordic Model is the only option that's worked in the past. Selling sex is decriminalized, but buying sex is criminalized.

I didn't realize that. I'd start focusing on leveling up in your career, then. That way you can have freedom instead of being stuck with two awful options.

I'd focus on undoing and investigating the attacks on your character first. Once you feel stable in yourself as a good person, you'll be unshakable. Why does your family say things like that to you? Do you truly have to work on your values, or are they gaslighting you for having boundaries? Being able to discern these things will keep you much safer in your future relationships. Otherwise, some guy can say all sorts of shit about you, and you might just believe him. Feeling good about your appea…

You said you're not good at "being a woman", and then listed off a bunch of shallow traits that have nothing to do with womanhood. High value doesn't have to do with your appearance, your affinity for makeup, or any other things society tries to tell you your worth is tied to. Being high value is recognizing that you're a unique and kind individual who deserves to be treated well, and won't tolerate mistreatment. It's about finding what you love and chasing that, and about making goals and reach…

It would be cool to have local branches of FDS one day so women could find supportive friends near them. I wouldn't discount what can happen in 2 weeks though. Especially since you can't do much in person, now's a good time to make some online friends.

It sounds like you want to be wanted more then you actually want a relationship. You're really young, just focus on building your self esteem in ways that don't depend on male attention.

I don't know what the right answer is, but if I were you I'd cut him off completely and do my best to get in touch with her. Then tell her how fucking selfish it is for him to be doing this. Maybe you'll get a better friend out of it. I'd use these next two weeks to start forging new female friendships, instead of falling back on shitty men

You turned him down sexually once, now he thinks he found another way to get to you by pretending to be your friend. Trust your suspicions. Focus on making some female friends in your complex

Someone said they had a theory that these popular pick up artists are purposefully flooding the dating pool with bad advice to cut down on their competition. True or not, the bar for "good boyfriend" is underground at this point.

Never worth having sons in my opinion. Women putting their lives on the line to make a mini-me for some guy, always seems unfair.

Still men have audacity to wonder how come women get custody most of the time Men love to complain about this, even though the opposite is true. Men who try for custody are actually more likely to get it than women, even if the mother is objectively a better parent. But since men don't often ask for custody, it usually goes to the mother.

I completely agree with you. Anger is self protective, and that is the reason that society tries to minimize and eliminate anger in women. A woman that forgives indiscriminately is not a "pure and loving soul", but someone who's been duped into thinking her martyrdom is a moral value.
