I'm friendly to strange females I'm not attracted to or interested in. They may think I'm trying to work an angle, for all I know. I don't really know any females but I am somewhat skeptical that guys are always asking them out. Think of any public place - a store, a coffee shop, anywhere. How many times have you seen it happen second hand? I have seen guys trying but it is actually pretty rare.

10-12 years ago I was on an online dating site - something purportedly designed for people looking to meet someone - and only one person wanted to meet.

10 for me. It’s just impossible to find people looking to meet someone.

They’re not bigger than sports as you see TV and advertising (which sports are a part of) well ahead of video games.

Are a bigger. Is that really true?

I’m a guy and while I did play around with video games a little bit 25-30 years ago, as a kid, I couldn’t imagine playing a video game as an adult today. I thought their popularity waned. I’m not sure that so many people have strong opinions about video games in these times.

Do you not realize that most people who haven’t had success have tried their entire lives? We’re skeptical because these, “low-hanging fruit,” tips never work for us.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/22 06:18 PM

That’s your idea. Spinning your wheels doing something that doesn’t make a difference isn’t the answer either.

Nothing else. Some of us are screwed and there isn’t a lot we can do about it.

If no one is talking or responding to him, he’s not getting them either. They’re nice to have but far from enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/22 05:53 PM

They sure are but you need the opportunity to use them. You can’t use them if you don’t have a chance to.

If it’s a place I’d go to anyway or like to go to, I’d probably travel a good distance. I think I’d be willing to travel but have to verify a few things with the other person first.

I didn’t get many conversations when I used online dating. The few I did get turned into something similar. I never met any of them. My guess is that it’s either some kind of scam or they might be having fun online at your expense.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/22 06:12 PM

Thanks. Just guys. It’s probably not going to happen with females.

Some kind of public matchmaking system. It would probably be for people who want to get married. One problem is only certain people will use it - middle class and lower - as a certain strata will look down at anyone using the public portal. Another problem is you shouldn’t have to want to get married in order to meet someone.

I think, for me, the prostitutes would have to be reflective of the attractive people I see in day-to-day life. They’d have to be no different than the general public, with the only difference that they charge for sex. If they look like the stereotype, legalized prostitution would not replace those other things for me because I’d think of them as a different thing altogether.

I’m not sure if it’s always the man or maybe females are just more likely to complain? I don’t know. This kind of thing isn’t really a part of my life so I can’t say. Whenever someone is complaining about another person, it should always go without saying that you’re getting one version of events and that they’re always - not even intentionally - leaving vital information out. If someone complains about another person, it’s good to be sympathetic to their distress but it goes without saying that…

I don’t know. None of my friends really date. I know this is a jerky response but you didn’t answer the question I asked you.

Well, I’ve never experienced it and at 40 it’s probably not going to happen for me. Hopefully things turn out better for you.

Why would you use online dating if you weren’t struggling in real life?

You sure could have fooled me.

I don’t know. I haven’t really met any females. Someone cooperative and willing to meet halfway would be a nice start.

The problem is, you need exposure/access before they can know your personality. No female has ever known mine because I’m disallowed access.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/22 10:35 PM
2

I wish I knew. There are many possible explanations e.g., luck, exposure, money. I don’t know how often it happens. I doubt it’s something you can just engineer for yourself out of whole cloth.

I agree with the first paragraph but the rest completely loses me. Are people running bell curves in their brain to decide if they should stay or go? I’ve never had a girlfriend but that doesn’t sound very real. I think you’re thinking up oddball scenarios in your brain. With regard to the last paragraph, who on earth is suggesting you are obliged? You sound as though you’re arguing with a load of BS you made up.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/22 06:37 PM

I have no idea what females are looking for (they don’t confide in me) but I’ve never heard of moonlighting as a barkeep as desirable. Besides, you don’t need to be a barkeep to pour a shot. It seems to be one of the more self-explanatory pours. Also, the motorcycle one may be true (what do I know?) but bikers aren’t known to have really desirable wives or girlfriends from what I’ve seen.

I used online dating over 10 years ago. It was a complete scam. The people on there almost never responded (if the females on there are there to meet someone, not responding would seem to defeat the purpose) and the few that did ended up coming up with a bizarre reason why they couldn’t meet. I’m convinced a lot of the people on there weren’t even real and a lot of the others were part of some kind of data harvesting scheme. The consistency of the behavior was too coincidental.

Nobody. I would guess it would be much lower but I have no actual idea and not enough money to find out.

I don’t actually know but I can’t believe there aren’t a considerable number that would do it for a multiple of a thousand dollars.

It’s a question a lonely, sexless guy (me) has always had. Everyone has a price tag but the question is how high. If the amount offered is high enough, I’d guess many “normal” appearing females would take you up on it. It may be significant but I’d think there is a tipping point at some level. If you had enough money, you may be able to find out. It would be interesting to see.

It’s fine with me but not happening in my workplace. It is the place where you spend the most time (if you work outside the home) so it’s probably the best place to meet someone if you remove the legal pitfalls. There is a faction of people who want to make meeting someone a test of character or as difficult as possible and they will have a problem with my train of thought.

“No good deed goes unpunished.” The older you get, the more this resonates. On what planet is it easy to be nice and kind?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/03/22 08:14 PM

Those are nice things but probably don’t mean that much long-term. I’ve never had it personally but hey, it wouldn’t hurt. Anyway, it wouldn’t make it break anything for me.

I see females on here talking about “needing a connection.”. That is kind of weirdo talk if you ask me. I’m not “connecting,” with someone I hardly know. Is that something people actually do? It honestly takes years to have that with anyone. I only have that with my family members or friends I’ve known for years. I just couldn’t imagine someone has that with some guy they met from the internet a few months ago.

Fewer females are looking to meet someone. This has been a long-term trend so I wouldn’t get too carried away pointing to anything that happened recently.

Adult behavior as an adaption to experience is pretty robust evidence.

“Evidence suggests,” is BS science journalism for “possibly.”
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 11:08 PM
1

Many not all. As for the, “the way the brain works,” there actually isn’t a lot of direct evidence for that. Some may always have been that and some may adapt to that style. It’s not a clear line, it’s a continuum, anyway and situational not static for most.

Why do you say?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 10:35 PM

I don’t know that it would be easier in large city. I’m not joining any kind of club just to make friends. I’d either meet them at work or I’d be out of luck.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 09:14 PM
1

I live in a small town. I’d have no idea where to make male friends. Not many guys I work with seem interested in me as friends. Otherwise, I’d have to join some kind of club and I really have no interest in that, just to make friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 08:54 PM
1

I get the idea but it’s limited to those in the club. If they don’t like me, I’m just back to where I was.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 06:27 PM
2

I’m looking to meet females not join a club.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 06:21 PM
2

What if one of my friends asked me for help? I’d love to help them out but I don’t know a single female (outside of my family and they are too old for my friends and not looking). They should just discard me because I’m not able to help them?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 06:01 PM
2

Of course we’re not meeting new people. People that don’t know us don’t want to meet us.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 05:58 PM
2

I have thought about this and it does seem plausible (especially for me). Finding new friends who know a lot of females at this age is incredibly hard to do. I have no talent for any kind of art so that’s off the table. I think it says something that these are two feats very difficult to pull off for the average guy.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 05:57 PM
2

Haha. Also a problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 05:32 PM
2

Probably not but it doesn’t need to be.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 04:46 PM

Or many introverts are just failed extraverts.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 03:00 PM

Well, not opposed to some of the things on that list but there is a lot more involved to make that “traditional,” I would think.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 02:32 PM
1

With regard to the first part, where? This isn’t reality for everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 01:49 PM
1

Well in theory it would be great but if they started making the first move tomorrow, I’d be convinced they were scamming me. It would have to be something people grew up expecting before a lot of us could believe it’s real and not some kind of scam.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 02:22 AM
2

I don’t have social media (I guess reddit counts) but I think almost everything online presents a pretty distorted view of the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/22 01:00 AM
1

Well no one is interested in me either way, so I may as well just be up front.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 11:37 PM
0

As long as they aren’t using me as a means to an end, it doesn’t matter to me why someone likes me. No one has liked me so far.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 10:44 PM
1

I don’t disagree with that. I didn’t take his, “please fornicate,” seriously. He clearly didn’t mean that as a phrase literally but more something along those lines.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 03:07 AM
1

I think it’s fine if that’s the reason but people need to explain that up front because it is not at all intuitive to the other side. I don’t care how uncomfortable it makes you. You need to explain because it is very confusing.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 02:59 AM
1

Haha. Yeah I’ve noticed that one.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 02:54 AM
1

Well as a guy who has only “chased,” you don’t realize how good you have it.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 02:53 AM
1

Why do they need to say, “something casual,” as opposed to “primarily looking for sex?”. One is shorthand (code word) for the other. Why is the shorthand preferred?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 02:51 AM
1

It’s no more or less dangerous for either. Maybe a little more for females since there are more violent guys. What the person says or whatever else about them may affect my degree of attraction but I probably wouldn’t lose sexual attraction to someone. So it appears the difference may lay there.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 02:49 AM
2

Does this really happen? How would that make any difference at all?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 10:12 PM
2

I know nothing but it may have more to do with lack of exposure to poorer females than any kind of self-inflicted rule.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 08:52 PM
3

It’s called prosperity. Living through a depression and world war is a good way to diminish your self-importance.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 08:48 PM
1

It’s never happened for me.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 08:40 PM
1

Why do you need code words?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 08:39 PM
6

Why do you need flirting if you’re attracted to the guy?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/22 08:36 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
