It’s been this way since literally the beginning of our species. Men provide resources, women provide beauty and companionship.

Why are you going on dates with women you’re not interested in? That’s the problem right there. Men need to be pre-filtering a lot more. I would never bother going on a date with someone who I wasn’t legitimately interested in, and who I didn’t have at least some reason to believe was interested in me.

Unfortunately there are many women who would rather destroy an entire family and emotionally scar their own children rather than just have sex with their husband occasionally

There’s a reason arranged marriages were the norm in most cultures throughout history. More choices don’t make humans any happier; in fact study after study shows that the more options you have the less happy you are. Having your family (who in theory should know you well enough to not pair you with someone who would be an awful match) make the choice for you paradoxically would result in happier marriages. When you’re simply given something and you know it’s all you’re getting and you have no c…

I mean I don’t have a problem with that. I’m attracted to younger women and have no problem admitting it. But to me it’s two sides of the same coin, so I don’t see a reason to judge either one. It makes sense from a biological perspective for men to be attracted to younger women, just as it makes sense for women of all ages to be attracted to wealthy men. I also don’t think it’s necessarily always shallow and materialistic. Yes some women are absolutely straight-up gold diggers, but most women j…

But they never will change. That’s the thing. You can scream into the void about it all you want, but women will always find wealth attractive.

If I ask a woman to dinner and tell her it’s on me, and when we sit down at the table I tell her to order whatever she wants, I’m 1) showing that I’m valuing her presence (i.e. making her feel special), and 2) I’m making a display of my financial resources, which is one of the three standards that most women judge men on (the other two of course being looks and personality)

I mean people have unrealistic expectations all the time. Those women will either succeed in getting what they want, or they’ll fail and either eventually settle for an average guy, or just be single. But if they’re likely going to end up with an average guy either way, might as well shoot for the moon while you’re young and see if you can get someone out of your league.

Sure, but she’s a stranger you want to get to know better and spend time with, thus you need to invest in that. If she’s attractive, there’s a dozen other guys wanting to do the same thing. So how are you going to stand out? Unless you’re a 10/10 in looks or have a charming serial killer personality, displays of wealth are the only way to separate yourself from the pack. Men have always been the pursuers and women have always been the prize. It has always been this way and will always be this wa…

We’re all operating with Stone Age brains. Hence all the neuroses and anxieties you see today. Technology and culture evolve orders of magnitude faster than physical evolution.

Men want women with big boobs and wide hips because it signals good health and reproductive potential. Women want physically strong providers because it signals safety and stability if they pair up. Is this a revolutionary concept to people? It’s basic common sense. Why tf would a woman be attracted to a weak, unsuccessful man?

This 100% Paying is a form of effort, and most guys these days hate putting in effort of any kind. If you want something bad enough, you put in the effort to get it. If he’s not willing to put in any effort for you, it’s because he doesn’t really care about you.

Plenty of women date based on potential and that’s completely valid. But the law of averages says that most men won’t be successful, they’ll be average at best. So looking at it that way, if you’re an attractive young woman who can have pretty much any man you want, are you going to gamble on a man who has the potential to be who you’re looking for, or are you going to go for the man who already is who you’re looking for?

I’m not sure what you’re implying
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/26 04:14 PM

Because success is inherently attractive. Whether or not a man needs to take care of two people, the fact that he can shows that he’s successful. It helps him stand out from the masses who can’t. Just like big boobs and an hourglass figure help a woman stand out from the crowd. Whether or not it’s logical or necessary, it’s just how things work. And from a more practical standpoint, plenty of women don’t want to work. So if they meet a man who can provide for both of them, then obviously he’s go…

Norms and expectations have existed throughout history and people were a lot more content with life than they are today

How is it abusive? Some men enjoy being able to be a provider.

It’s literally always been this way. The most successful hunters in the Neolithic era were getting the most women. Throughout history, millions upon millions of men never reproduced because they were outcompeted by men who could offer more to women than they could.

Be realistic with your own expectations. Not everyone is going to find a full package woman with a great personality and an hourglass figure. The amount of older, single men is only increasing every year. Surely getting into a relationship with an obese single mom is better than dying alone.

Paying shows that the man is serious about pursuing her and also indicates he has abundant resources, which has been viewed as attractive since the Stone Age

Men with more resources have always been more attractive to women, from the Stone Age all the way up through today
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/26 03:36 PM

Because 1) it shows you’re serious about her, and 2) it indicates you have enough resources to be able to take care of two people I don’t go around paying for random strangers’ meals. If I’m paying for your meal, it’s because I actually like you, want to get to know you more, etc.

I mean it’s a nice gesture when they offer but it’s not something I’m looking for. I enjoy being able to be a provider.

But that’s the thing, you have no idea what they wanted. You’re just extrapolating your own personal opinion backwards into history and across cultures. YOU might not want it, but you don’t speak for millennia’s worth of humanity. If things were a certain way for the vast majority of humans for the vast majority of history, odds are that it was the best way to do things. Because what’s the alternative argument? That for thousands of years the vast majority of humans around the world were miserab…

Yes, women have always worked, farmed (this counts as “staying at home” btw), traded, fought, etc. But not anywhere close to the same proportion as men. You’re citing exceptions and then presenting them as the rule. In general throughout history, in most cultures anywhere on this planet, women have wanted men to lead and to protect, and have tended to stay home while men are the ones to leave the home to hunt, trade, explore, and fight. The fact that you think this is some mid-20th century inven…

OP is implying that women have it easier than men because struggling women can always find a man to help them. What he fails to mention is that those women more often than not are taken advantage of if not downright abused by the men who offer to “help”. Like the autistic homeless girl OP mentioned, who can just go live with some guy she met on discord. You do realize that such a guy is most likely going to be demanding a certain kind of reciprocation from her? So yeah, great, she’s not homeless…

Yes welcome to being a human, males and females have different reproductive and survival strategies. Is this somehow news to you? It’s been this way since the beginning of human history and will be until the end. There’s a reason prostitution is often referred to as “the world’s oldest profession.” Sex for protection/resources is literally the oldest trade that exists. If you’re that desperate for protection/resources you’re free to start sucking dick; plenty of powerful men desire boy toys.

Do you ever go out in public? Just look around at the couples you see and tell me how many of those men look like “hypermasculine providers” to you. I’m going to guess it’s a very small number.

You can be disgusted by attractive people. One of my exes, who was the most physically attractive woman I’ve dated, ended up disgusting me with her behavior.

No matter how much you think you know someone, you don’t truly know them until you live with them. I’ve learned this the hard way, once with a friend and once with a girlfriend.
