Was looking for some instances on how they would be thrown out. What an awful deal marriage is. Thanks.

That would be great, does anyone actually pull that off? From all I've read on here prenups are worthless these days and regularly get thrown out.

True and true.

Yep, thanks. Sometimes the simplest answers are what people asking questions like this need.

That's how I see it. But I think if you can deal with the social pressure of having a family not being married, which I know I can (unsure about her), what else is the point? I don't fall into either of the two categories you mentioned, but still just dont think its for me.

Good points, and I agree, handling those conversations is much easier than the alternative

To clarify we don't live together, i have put that off. And I live in Florida where there is no new common law marriage possibility (just looked that up).

That is a good angle I just feel like clarifying it now and making intentions clear is wiser than waiting 5 more years and living together to bring it up. Expectations will just build and make things worse rather than letting it be known up front

No, I know I am and she should too, but girls get crazy when it comes to the paper and metal

Yea thats why I feel relationships are healthier with marriage out of the picture. It just forces both to keep up self-improvement and bringing their their best self to the relationship all the time.

There are no benefits for us but a ton for them. So it's simple when viewed through our eyes, but they won't see it the same way, and then she will have to decide if Im worth sticking with without a proposal.

"The bottom line is that in 5 years if you are still with your GF, no matter what arrangement you think you make now, it's not going to hold up after she gets the baby/marriage bug." I think this is the reality of the situation. Societal pressure is very real on high value girls to have a wedding. Honestly this is moreso how I see things going after I firmly make my stance, but I guess I won't know until that time comes.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
