That was my thoughts. I know someone who just served one year for shooting someone point blank in the face. The victim is blind and basically a 300 pound 2 year old for a short life. You would be surprised at the sentences people get for super heinous crimes. I will say there would have been a much more severe sentence if the victim was a female in either case.
