No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert A. Glover.

The book was recommended to me on this thread. Please read it. I was also used by my ex and finally read this book after the divorce. I think that had I read it prior, it would’ve made me stronger. Less of a doormat.

Bro, get a lawyer and start protecting your assets ASAP. It’s obvious she’s using you to bankroll her life when you’re deployed. I guarantee you that your wife’s boyfriend has been in your house. Secondly, please read: no more Mr. nice guy.

Wow. It’s very well possible that the same thing happened to me since they’re from the same city.

/r/Divorce_Men07/06/26 07:52 PM

Honestly, I couldn’t care less about her last name. Nor do I care what anyone else thinks about her. She gave me her last name when she asked me for mine.
/r/Divorce_Men07/06/26 07:51 PM

Agreed. But the moral of the story is that, this has become the new norm. The second they are able to, they are digging for dirt.
/r/Divorce_Men07/06/26 07:48 PM
4

Agreed. I can’t even imagine the type of mess she would put me in if it was a serious long-term relationship. But I assure you that it’s not only her. I learned about the Facebook thing from other girls.

She is a penny digger. Period. What guy wouldn’t go out with a girl if she paid all the meals. Not going 50-50 is this a time bomb for a money grabbed divorce in the future

Don’t be hard on yourself. Naïvety was my down downfall too. We were raised to make the world a better place. We never knew that there were people out there that wanted to conciscously damage other people.
/r/Divorce_Men13/04/26 02:41 AM

I can relate. I lost confidence in myself to make a sound decision. I made the worst decision of my life marrying my ex. Now, I’m stuck because I can’t afford to trust myself anymore.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/26 06:44 AM
2

I hear you mate. I lost trust in myself to make the correct decision in anything in life.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/26 06:37 AM
3

Sadly, I think that’s exactly what it is. Mine upgraded her life quality because of me. It was just a financial transaction for her.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/26 06:36 AM
2

I can relate. Although I have never missed her since she stepped out, the consequences of her actions have left a serious dent in my life. I am feeling stuck. My paradigm shifted because I never knew people could be this evil. It’s contaminated other parts of my life. I am afraid of people. Honestly, I don’t if I can ever trust my judgment of people ever again. Because of that, I’ve lost trust in myself in everything. I’m trying to rebuild myself.

She already has a lawyer, and she is already plotting for an exit plan. Herr friends and her family are fully aware about it and they are all against you. Get yourself an attorney now.

Thank you. Amen to that brother. She’s trying to micromanage me, even after stealing equity of what she never worked for. Here is what the MSA says. Bro, consider yourself blessed. The only reason why she didn’t leave you earlier when she cheated, OR why she’s leaving now in Peace is because you’re not legally married. Best believe that if she was legally entitled to your house, she’d put up a greedy fight for half of it.

This is the best comment of the year. Thank you. To provide more details, I vetted this gal from online to FaceTiming with her. We spoke for 2 weeks. She told me about her divorce. I told her about mine. When she mentioned she wanted ed me to plan a date, I came back with dutch on the next call. She changed her tune and declined to meet. I’m proud of myself for being courageous enough to bring it up prior to meeting. Also, I’m relieved to see the truth before any real world steps were taken. She…

From the stories I heard on here, most of us were screwed by our exs. Sadly, in your case, it seems you sorta of fucked up. She stayed with you through thick and thin. In the end, we are all human, and all fuck up. So I have empathy for those that end up looking at the mirror. She has the right not to forgive you, but I would recommend you let her know you regret your actions and still love her. Even if nothing happens, it will both help you have closure.

Unbelievable! Where do they even get these ideas? Through this process, I feel as if there is a secret playbook they choose to use that leads to the same recipe: damaged individuals, burned bridges and greed. We are fighting the same demon possessing our wifes. Instead of choosing the path less traveled, they love the beaten path. Sadly, they end up dragging us with them.
/r/Divorce_Men16/08/25 06:58 AM

You are right. I was foolish. I was an idiot. I blame myself. I was working during the day and she had time to take off of work. She architected: I let my desire to please her do things I didn’t want to do.

Well said regarding free will. We have free will to be saints or devils. Wisdom and grace can help us make the right choice. Or stay away from the bad choices.

I have empathy for you brother. Spouses that leave their partners in a worse mental condition than before they met deserve hell. It’s always been a principle of mind to not intentionally hurt people. Unfortunately, these past 2 years have thought me that I am unique in this philosophy. My stbx has been prepping for divorce for 5 years so she could gain house equity. The ultimately betrayal almost made me loose my job because my PTSD was leaking at work. For the first time in my life, I was feeli…
/r/Divorce_Men30/07/25 12:55 AM

Same is happening to me. The love of greed has taken over her. The advice from her attorney is milking you both. My theory is that she is prolonging shit to capitalize more on your earning power. Example: if you are the highest earner, 6 months worth of more income to split beats 3 months etc… Like others have said, trying to understand is a waste of valuable time. I wasted 2 years trying to understand the writings on the wall just to end up at the same place with serious betrayal trauma pain.

I was waiting for later this week. But we got into a verbal argument where she asked me: “do you want to be married to me” I figured it was now or never. And proceeded to letting her know that her actions for the past six months show she didn’t want to be married to me.
