I think it needs to happen. I think he was jokingly saying "That can't happen, can it.". I think he was referencing that feminists only care for themselves and their own agenda (power hungry influence and profiling themselves), and if the wage gap disappears they have one less false statistic to cite.

There is nothing worse than coming home to be mildly ignored. Man here. I disagree. Coming home to nagging and requests is worse. I'm not saying you can't talk household-business with a man if you need to. But just don't welcome him with household-business. I think he was more referring to students who happily waste their time with "liberal arts bullshittery", like political agendas and taxpayer funded SJW bootcamps. From my years in academia I've met a lot of bullshittery people. But if you really want to to "honest uninhibited research" I'm on your side. Good luck finding funding.

Other examples are "movie piracy", which has nothing to do with legalese piracy (except if you use ships to steal DVDs). In german they have another word for movie piracy, literally "robbery copy", which has nothing to do with the legal definition…
