in most metro areas in the us, it's fairly standard. There are some country lawyers or smaller practice lawyers who wouldn't charge, but would you want someone whose time is that cheap handling your delicate affairs? If this is a remarkably cooperative divorce, then you might be able to go with a cheap guy. Otherwise, you get what you pay for, in my experience.

Yes. I've even thought of legally partitioning my property and building a second domicile and setting up some kind of nominal very low rent payment for legal purposes should I ever want to really integrate a woman into my life on a permanent basis. At that point I could regularly sleepover nextdoor and vice-a-versa and if we wanted to we could eat all our meals together yet legally we would just be 2 neighbors screwing each other. I think such a living arrangement could potentially offer benefit…

I totally understand the schadenfreude, and I basked in it for a while. It's fun to see your enemies fail, and it can cause one a sort of pleasure. It's interesting to reflect back now that in my fantasy, it was a lot more pleasurable to see her fail than it ended up being. Ultimately, she's the mother of my child and the fact that she has fucked up her life so badly is sad and regrettable. I reflect sometimes how maybe I could have lead her better, maybe I could have guided her in a more effect…

Tell your mom, make sure she doesn't transfer the house to you until the divorce is FINALIZED. Otherwise this cheating whore will try to take half of the house that you need to be a single parent in to have a stable place for your child. She isn't your friend. She's acting entirely in her self-interest, and her self-interest is sadly due to her unfaithful nature opposed to your self-interest. This is a fork in the road and how you handle it will determine the sort of relatinship your child's par…

The number of comments I received when similar stuff happened to me is truly interesting. Like, what an easy thing to say in theory. What a poorly thought out fantasy that this action somehow wouldn't immediately result in your child being fatherless and raised by an unstable whore? In terms of advice, this isn't it.

Wise words. This will blow up for sure. Dr. Phil said some stuff about when 2 cheaters get together that statistically there is a 99.99 chance of failure for such relationships. It's literally statistically unheard of in literature. They have resulted in happily ever after zero times.

And 400 years later the Buddha is believed to have once said "It is better to travel on alone, rather than with a fool for company."

Noticed that so fucking much! The laundry, which was the only goddamn chore she ever did in our house, takes me about two hours a week. Most of that time is spent watching TV and relaxing other than the ten minutes spent switching loads over. If I'm hungry, I make good food. If I'm not, I don't have to. The level of stress that she brought to my life was so goddamn high that I can't believe I ever put up with it for so long.

Yeah, like I thought that paying for all the bills for my family meant I was doing the right thing and being a good provider? Turns out that despite the fact that my wife makes THREE TIMES what I make I am not entitled to anything because yeah, she made way more than me, but she still paid less of the bills. It's amazing that they calculate it that way. Like, so what if she has three times the earning power I do, she took advantage of me during our marriage's life and so now she gets to take adv…

This is gold. Holy shit man, spit out my coffee at "she will try to make you feel bad for her getting buttfucked by the parking attendant." This is literally word for word EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. That very specific, exact scenario.

This has been a big part of my healing. Just internalizing and really understanding that this next victim isn't going to get any better treatment than I received. And coming to understand that this means I've won, in a sense. Like. you can put up with this demon in your life for as long as you want, you stupid fuck. Thanks for taking her off my hands. Although I couldn't ever actually thank a person who fucks up my family because he wants to make his penis feel good. Ultimately the number of fam…

You're right, I won't ever see the world in a way that somehow justifies this kind of behavior. For the record, I also think that kicking a dog is morally bad. But on the spectrum of morally bad, I would much rather break bread with a guy from china who eats dogs than a person who cheats on their partner for TWO YEARS without the balls to end it. To treat someone that way for so long? They must really hate the person they claim to love. And that's really fucking sick, man. It's disturbingly cold…

So you're suddenly not a piece of shit if you acknowledge what a piece of shit you are? I would argue that cheating on your partner is way worse than kicking a dog on purpose, because it's more than one moment of weakness - it's a million tiny decisions to betray the person you claim to love the most in the world because actually you're a piece of shit. Someone who kicks a dog once is arguably a way better person than a person who cheats on their partner for TWO GODDAMN YEARS

I'm not going to shame you or act like I don't understand the feeling. Shortly after my separation I just started walking. I ended up walking about 24 miles in one day, with the intention to never return. I eventually came to my senses and had a friend pick me up and drive me home. I would advise generically that children tend to not forgive these things, even if you're doing them for reasons that are understandable to third parties and understandable given the situation. I guess the question yo…

How about you nut up and leave the person who thinks you're a loyal husband when really you're a piece of shit? Stop cake eating and nut up and leave her if you aren't satisfied with her. Or better yet, give her an ultimatum about your sex life and the option to change things before running off with someone else for TWO YEARS? You've been decieving everyone in your life for TWO DAMN YEARS, you coward? How can you live with yourself or sleep at night? Honestly, this level of duplicity and spinele…

You're fucking 45. Your life isn't over. I watched during my childhood as my Uncle became a millionaire, had half of it stolen by his evil ex wife in his early forties, made it back over the course of several years, married his receptionist, she stole half ten years later, then he made it back again and has in the last few years had half stolen again by wife number three in his sixties. Luckily half of what he had is still a shit ton so he's still gonna be fine. I understand you're not a million…

Women in our modern society see commitment as a free pass to stop trying to improve the life of their man. The second you commit, you're there to improve their lives, they sadly aren't remotely interested in improving yours. This represents the unique erosion of the social contract in western society. Other countries have an intact social contract and women understand that they are people who function in a social system and that they have responsibilities to others equal to the claim on the reso…

Wise words from a man who is now a wiser hunter than he was before. It is proper that young hunters listen to the wise old hunters.

I accepted this kind of treatment for too many years. It sounds like an issue of basic willingness. You sound like a person who is willing to regularly make daily sacrifices in order to make the people around you happy. Sounds like you're doing a large number of tasks that you aren't necessarily thrilled by in those moments but you do them any way because you see a large amount of value in keeping the people around you happy. If she as your wife isn't willing to hear your concerns and make steps…

Holy crap man, I couldn't do it. You're a strong man. I would have legit been going apeshit. Yeah the only person allowed to do the nasty inside my house is me. You're right about the lack of respect and basic human decency. This woman is TRASH OP. Utter trash.

Removing a woman like this from your life doesn't feel like it, but it is a win, OP. You are wealthier at the end of all of this than if you had a lying taker whore in your life like that. Even if you end up having to pay her, it's cheaper than having to live with her. Keep your head up man

I know the feeling. I'm fairly certain my STBXW was plotting my murder at one point with her AP. She took out a life insurance policy on me and also kept asking about my will during arguments multiple times. Her AP was discussing a time when I would be "out of the picture" and he would be living happily ever after with my son in my house. But now that the law is involved and divorce proceedings are underway/almost done, she knows she would be the prime suspect. My life is safe at this point, or …

It wouldn't change the fact that my son's life has been negatively altered forever, the fact that I can never trust her again, or the fact that she lied for so long about so many things. It wouldn't change the fact that when someone shows so much hate for you, love isn't possible any more because trust isn't possible. It wouldn't change the fact that she will forever be an awful person for what she did to me and to my son and to our family. Honestly, it would probably just piss me off. It might …

Consider getting a hidden recording device and if she ever mentions suicide again, document it with a video. It isn't safe for kids to be around a suicidal person. Your instict is correct in that you don't want your kids finding them dead on the sofa. Sounds like she's not mentally stable enough to be a stable parent in your child's life. Also call the cops as others have said.

Evil exists, OP. It's hard for some people to believe in evil until it happens to them, until they experience true evil for the first time. You gotta protect yourself from evil. If you're not careful, experiencing evil can make you evil. Don't let that happen, man. You've gotta look for the good, you've gotta love the good, and for the sake of your child you've gotta hate sin. That means taking the high road even when she doesn't fucking deserve it, not one bit. Because you're not going to let t…

I don't hate my ex, I do pity her because she is not capable of forming lasting attachments or feeling genuine love. For her, the word love is a performance. Unbeknownst to me while she was saying I love you every single day she was actually actively hating me for months/years. I didn't ever hate her, but she sure as f*** was hating and probably still hates me. To this day she feels no remorse or regret for betraying me in the most ultimate of ways. I think she was probably plotting my murder at…

Jonah needs to be more selective than most men. He's definitely in the category of a person who can pull lots of tail, because of his very large amount of resources. Being famous attracts predators and users. He doesn't want to be used. Can't fault him one bit for wanting to make sure any woman he settles down with is loyal and devoted to him. It isn't controlling to express your boundaries upfront and then give the person you're talking to the option of either respecting them or leaving your li…

My 12 dollar ring that I had to buy myself because the one she bought me didn't fit and was not the style I wanted was smashed and put into a baggie and presented to her when she returned my grandmother's $6k diamond ring that I had paid to have resized for her. Sort of the least she could do after cheating on me in my own bed and taking pictures of it for me to find.

I know the feeling. It will not last forever and the fastest way to get it to end sooner is to fill your life back up with activities. I get the gym thing, I've been bringing my ketel bells into work with me and I'm doing like 500 jumping jacks a day lol. Gotta work on that revenge body to piss her off and attract someone better. Start projects, get stuff done around you. Keep your apartment clean, once you're moved in decorate it to be an awesome bachelor's pad. Watch the negative self-talk, ma…

She's putting on a show for you. Don't believe a word she says, don't believe her social media, block her on all social media. Don't even believe her tone of voice. Everything about her is fake. All the way down to her relationships. She's going to discard this new guy and start the cycle again. All cluster B's have a very predictable relationship pattern - idealize, discard, cheat, leave, repeat. Use an app to communicated with her only about your child. I am in a very similar situation and my …

Good for you. You deserve someone who priorotizes you, who doesn't play these games. No sex for SIX MONTHS?!?! She doesn't respect you at all. You're better off single. Believe in yourself. You can do better than this. You can find someone, literally most people, will treat you better than this. This is an unacceptable way to treat your partner. Don't accept this treatment. You're right. She doesn't deserve your attention if she isn't willing to give you hers.

I won't say that you're lucky, because this is not a lucky situation probably. You had some bad luck. But I will say that it could have been far worse. Seems like your wife was willing enough to work on it to go to therapy. She stuck around for long enough to have two children and ensure that you will forever be reproductively successful in the sense that you have replaced yourselves. She voiced the reasons why she was leaving, and although that may be very painful and hurtful to hear, it is mor…

I honestly might not, even if I felt she was the "right woman," not without an ironclad prenup. If she's willing to sign the prenup then I would probably venture it, why not? You tend to regret most those shots that you don't take. I took a shot and it turned out to be the wrong shot. But if you're alive and without major health problems, you often get more than one shot as a man. I have a cousin with a 2 year old who is in his late fifties. The only prenup I would ask for is that if it can be p…

Found pictures of her with a coworker naked in my bed. Also found texts between her and him about how "honored" he felt that my TODDLER SON had decided to "cuddle" with him there after he finished screwing my wife in my house. BTW, this all occurred about 20 feet from where we said or wedding vows. Also found out she had been ENGAGED to this POS for months despite being married to me, and having him over while I was at work every week. So yeah, marriage was obviously over. I knew we had problems…

As a father, I don't think that your wife being bitchy while pregnant is a good enough reason. Neither will society. Neither will a custody judge. So, be careful, man. I get that it sucks when she doesn't want sex, but there are hormones in her body literally making her not want sex. If it continues after she gives birth for too long, then is the time to bring it up and if she doesn't change it, end it. But pregnancy fucks with womens brains and makes them into needy, spiteful little bitches. Th…

My sanity, my well-being, my emotional health, my money, and most importantly, my time. At a certain point it was literally just sunk-cost that was keeping me comitted, and the well-being of my son. I took my marriage vows seriously. I thought to myself - OK so we've had a couple rough years, our son was just born, it is bound to be hard, I'm sure it can get better once he's older. But she couldn't even handle 3 years of my son's life before she was done. I gave up my chance to have an intact fa…

24 years is a long time, man. I was at one point in my twenties sort of serially getting with "lesbians." A large percentage of lesbians like dicks, man, it's a thing. For them, it's more the emotional connection with a man, for some it's not even the emotional conection so much as the emotional safety. For some reason they can't feel emotionally safe around men. They can enjoy their penises and their sex. Lived with one "lesbian" for four years, pretty sure she hasn't been with any man since me…

They're all true except for #9 in my case. It was actually cheaper to let her go. Yes, she made more money than me. She helped me afford the costs of having a child, which are considerable. Yet, she still took more than she provided. She always took more than she gave. It's actually cheaper to let her go, if she's a disrespectful and morally bad person. The cost of a person who does not respect you being your primary person in your life is higher than any perceived cost of being alone. Eventuall…

Moms can be worthless sacks of shit too. That's an important piece of nuance. If a mom leaves a guy who is willing to make it work for the sake of his kid because she prioritizes her happiness over her child's or her child's father, that is a fucked up thing to do. That reality can coexist with one in which some moms leave their baby daddies or husbands because they are abusive or neglectful or something. Some dads leave their baby mommas because they are abusive or neglectful. But generally bei…

I was in a 4 year relationship living with a woman at one point. We lived together the whole relationship, basically, and we met when we were both broke in our early twenties. We had sex at least every couple days, often once a day. Absurdly good sex, actually. At the end of it, she left me for a woman who she stayed with for four years. After that, a couple other women and finally another woman for the last several years. She really was emotionally a lesbian and "figuring it out." A lesbian can…
