IMHO this seems like a textbook example of the axiom that power corrupts. On the surface, it’s about feminism, sexism, etc., but it’s really a dominance move from the headmaster of the school. He didn’t like the video, so he ordered it taken down. The teacher’s failure to do as instructed is insubordination, grounds for termination, and could lead to his lifetime ban from teaching. BOOM! “I have the positional power, you don’t, now PISS OFF!” By the way, it’s a good lecture. It seems very schola…

This is a terrible situation for all of you. No matter how things go with the courts, and the mom, I hope you can find a way to make sure your daughter knows that you love her. Don’t let the mom poison that relationship.

I wanted to fact check this statement, so, here's what I found: According to this, the prevailing view is that although the number of male cases is not dissimilar to the number of female cases, men have about twice the risk of death from COVID-19 According to this, the top 10 most hard hit industries from most to least impacted are: scenic transportation, amusement parks and casinos, clothing stores, laundry services, dentist offices, sound recording, restaurants/bars, home furnishing stores, sp…

I agree with you that the "bang your hot teacher" trope isn't a good one, but I think you're also missing the possibility that they might handle it right. From the trailer description page, emphasis mine: Dissatisfied in their own lives, Claire and Eric discover an undeniable escape in each other, but their relationship accelerates faster than anticipated and the permanent damage becomes impossible to ignore. Perhaps we might get the whole story before sharpening the pitchforks.

One thing I have not seen in this thread is the original question. Your defense of your answer needs to turn on the important point of how well you answered the prompt, and not so much as whether your point is something she can agree with. In other words, who is "right" may not matter as much as how well you wrote, your citations, your logic. That is where you need to focus your energies, and your response. IMHO

These results indicate that higher economic status can offset lower physical attractiveness in men much more easily than in women. Neither raters' BMI nor age influenced this effect for females rating male attractiveness. This difference explains many features of human mating behavior and may pose a barrier for male engagement in low-consumption lifestyles. Interesting conclusion...

I do not agree with your conclusion, and here is why. It's simple empathy to understand how another might feel in any given situation. THAT'S the part I believe he understands. In other words, he's not conditioned to accept that men are dangerous, rather, he's aware that SHE has been so conditioned. Therefore, he understands why people would look at him with suspicion, despite not agreeing with it. He can understand how others might feel about him without internalizing that belief, and it would …

It's the Duluth model for dealing with domestic violence. Many jurisdictions rely on this to determine who to arrest in a conflict situation. According to the Duluth Model, "women and children are vulnerable to violence because of their unequal social, economic, and political status in society." The program insists that men are perpetrators who are violent because they have been socialized in a patriarchy that condones male violence, and that women are victims who are violent only in self-defens…

I have to say, i could not read that thing in its entirety. Perhaps his story is bullshit, but that doesn't change the fact an erection is a male physiological reaction to sexual stimuli. Therefore, a man doesn't need to be a willing participant for there to be intercourse. Thank you for conceding the argument.
/r/MensRights15/06/18 06:39 PM

Thank you for taking the time to craft a reply. I will also concede several of your points as well. Yes, it's easier, and more commonplace for men to rape women - or each other for that matter. Yes, it's likely to be different in many ways. (I too have that instinct that if I was a 15 year old boy and the hot teacher had sex with me, that would have been something to brag about). And that's the point of the men's rights movement. Let's stop acting like it's OK if the victim is a man. Let's ackno…

Are you seriously going to claim that the only time a man can have an erection is when he is willing? If you have a dick you KNOW this isn't true. Furthermore, I defy you to stay flaccid when someone, no matter how repulsive, is giving your junk dedicated attention. Sleep-related erections in vegetative state patients. It reminds me of the counter point to claims that we need to start teaching men not to be rapists. You know, the one where somebody tries to point out the hypocrisy of this claim be stating that we need to start teaching women not to be prostitutes? Both blanket claims are ridiculous, but, in some circles, one of them is treated as a reasonable proposition.

Flip the genders in your story. And read it now. Is there any part of you that would treat your female relative this way? But treating your friend that way because he was only raped by a woman is somehow OK? I had a friend who maybe a decade ago was taken advantage of by a woman man after he she had passed out drunk. Of course all of his her buddies, including myself, gave him her shit about it the way young guys do, but in retrospect I think it hurt him her in some way. I have a very close male…

We called it the "color line." It was a long questionnaire that poked into your racial experiences. It was built around the entire race narrative such that the common/stereotypical experiences of white people generated a high number, and those for people of color generated lower scores. Then we all lined up by score so we could all "see" the results of racism. It could just as easily been constructed to put any group at either end of the line.

And one horrifyingly possible scenario is that he is the father, and she decides to keep the baby. Then she sues him for child support, wins, and he becomes legally obligated to provide it for the next 18 years because he is the genetic "father."

Yes, the tweets really show how deep the self deception runs. I'd love for the women to have a women's only study lounge if they feel the need/desire, but only if there is also allowed a space for men's only spaces. Either no single gender spaces, or gendered spaces for both sexes.

It's really simple to decide whether an image of an adult and a child together is loving and nurturing, or creepy and perverted. If the adult is a woman, it's the former, when it's a man, the latter. Case closed.

While we have much commentary here about how wonderfully the victim is doing in her pursuit of a doctorate, the only thing we see about the attacker who was not charged is that he lost his job. His reputation in academia is probably ruined, and he now has a huge stinking stain right in the middle of his life. Tell me again how this the rule of law?

I cannot imagine what it must be like for men of college age right now. The suggestion that they record consent at every point of the encounter almost seems like a rational response to the very real possibility that at any point in the future, the woman may choose to reclassify the event into rape, and condemn a man to rape at the hands of the system. Unfortunately, such a recording, even were it not explicit, could probably be recast as some sort of perverse intrusion into the woman's privacy w…

There are already a couple of good lists of things to do here, so I won't try to add to those. On the other hand.... Wanted to share what happened at the street fair on Friday. Typical but short line for the port-a-potties, and I arrive a little bit before the gal does. But we're standing there and there's a little "who goes first" tension when the next spot opens up. I think, what the hell, and offer for her to go first. It sounds like every aspect of any date ought to be documented and agreed to in a contract and waiver signed in triplicate, witnessed by at least 3 females, notarized, and filed with the RAINN office of sexual consent. As a teacher, came here to say this. We are required, at risk of our jobs, or even being charged as an accessory (or something similar) to report to social services when we have a REASONABLE concern about abuse. REQUIRED and REASONABLE are the key words here. It's pretty late in the school year, unless you moved, and the teacher has had a chance to look for patterns in your child's behavior, and condition, so maybe something has changed significantly enough for him/her to become worried. I agree…

Learn to take a joke. I don't mean to say that there aren't some widely accepted anti-male attitudes that are regularly passed off as jokes, but I would be disappointed if every MRA had to turn into the kind of hypersensitive reactionary twats we see over in the fems. All the old rite of passage rituals that men used to share have been erased from our society. Boys need guidance and some good role models, to pass into responsible, fully actualized, manhood. I think some in the PUA community are doing a good job conveying a masculine outlook toward the world. This comes to mind.

Our school has a single, unisex, staff restroom near the front. The toilet has a seat, but no second piece for a cover. I overheard the receptionist say to her friend, "We're going to have to train these men to put the toilet seat down." I deliberately leave it up as often as I can, even though I close it at home as a courtesy to my wife. (As in, because I want to, not because I was trained.)

I like the cut of your jib there GooeyGungan. I think that if the gals want to gather without us guys, they should be able to. I, too, have a strong streak of apathy about that other guy. Maybe it's the hunter in us, "Too bad about him not getting a beast, I'm got mine." Or alternatively, "Oh well, that one got away, I'll just get the next one." I agree with you that our apparent lack of concern is license to rain injustice on our heads. I disagree with you about needing more humor in MRA, and here's why. Men have a history of brushing things off, of letting small things pass. The point of the movement is to bring all those little misandrist events in our lives into the cold light of reality, and stop excusing them with a chuckle and a shrug. It's not the individual events that matter so much as the pattern. The pattern that says this particular slight is obviously insignificant because look at that guy making jokes about it. Th…

In the long run, I'd far prefer that reasonable people make responsible efforts to help, than have nobody ever offer. Even if it means I have to put up with a few busy bodies. BTW, did you catch the news video of a street experiment where a man approaches a little girl (actress of course) and she starts screaming, "get away, you're not my daddy!"? Nobody intervened. that sucked.

Would it have been OK with you if the stranger had said, while looking at your daughter, "Ouch, are you OK?" and then, again to her, but looking at you, "Do you need a hand up?" In other words, asking your tacit permission, but speaking to your daughter.

What an interesting exchange. It seems the key issue here is respecting proper boundaries, and the two of you have different perceptions of where those boundaries lie. "Wanting to help" is the very excuse OP's attacker used, and the thing that causes outrage in this type of story is that people use it as excuse to do anything they like. However, I don't want to teach my daughter that everyone trying to help is a danger. I also want to teach her how to interact with strangers in a civilized manne…
