What would 'going for it in this situation entail though? I asked her to be alone. I feel like if she wanted me, there wouldn't have been hesitation let alone rejection

Usually I would agree with advice like this but I can categorically say that more escalation would not have been the answer here. She's coy, we work together, and a comment like that could easily see me losing my position and thus housing at my very liberal liberal arts college

but don't you feel like you're admitting defeat in this huge part of life - reproduction? not that you necessarily need to want kids, but the imperative to fuck women is the common denominator between men, and to admit defeat is saying you're a failure in the most basic sense

will do on covert communication. you're right though - boldness is key, always better than sitting around wondering 'what if', or worse, posting about it on asktrp the next day re: morals...it wouldn't have bothered me quite frankly, i've never met the guy and he lives 9000 miles away. if he plans on getting married to a woman who would behave in such a manner, that's a failure of his due diligence (and laziness on his part).

Damn, that's good shit right there. Now I know for next time. Keep escalating until blatant rejection I guess, instead of stopping at no reaction

Yeah, maybe that's the case. I wasn't looking for obvious signals though, I just wanted some signal. Maybe her hamster thought "hey, he's just coming up for a few minutes, whatever happens after that is up to him"

You're mostly right. I was willing to make the first move if I had gotten ANY type of signal, but there was no tension, no moments of silence. She just chattered inane bullshit. There were no sexual overtones the whole night apart from bf discussion. A kiss attempt would've come out of nowhere

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
