I think there's a lot going on. Much of the work advocated by feminists has already been done (suffrage, employment, divorce, etc) and while there's still a gap it's much smaller than it was historically, so it's harder to get the same traction as before as the issues just don't seem that pressing anymore. For me, the difference is that LWMAs are largely liberal and progressive on most social and economic issues while MRAs can span a much wider range of political platforms, including conservatives, neoliberals, and postliberals. I also feel that LWMAs are more trustworthy and committed to actual change while MRAs are more self-centered or simply acting like they want change when they simply want control. My experience is that there's no way to win an argument with people. If you try logic, they think it can't be that serious because you're NOT freaking out or crying your eyes out or whatever. If you DO let your emotions out, people tell you to toughen up or don't be melodramatic or don't raise your voice. The ONLY thing you can do is extricate yourself. That gets you out of the situation and if they try to block you it shows you what they are really like.

As an autistic man myself, I can vouch for this. I would also add that people reserve sympathy for the "low-functioning" ones, those stereotyped as super-specialized or hyper-dependent. If you're "high-functioning", people assume your autistic traits are a choice, like you can turn them on or off. And if you point out your autism, they say "that's no excuse!" and leave you to meltdown.

We're really stuck when it comes to expressing ourselves. If we show emotions, we are either derided as weak and sensitive (sadness, grief, loss) or painted as dangerous (anger, frustration). So how do we fight it? Call it out as much as you want but if the profit motive is there, it's not going away. We're living in the late stages of capitalism, but the Oligarchs are too busy trying to squeeze out the last pennies to listen to our concerns unless it affects their bank accounts.
