I never argued that it's not a social norm, I've granted time and time again that it's not the majority. What I'm arguing is that opportunities for men to be approached by women exist enough that men can be doing more to attract these women in their lives. Again, literally all the evidence your suggesting is coming from the perspective of the men not getting approached. What that evidence CAN definitively say is that they are not being approached.... it CAN'T say why they aren't being approached…

I misspoke, I do mean to suggest that my point isn't any stronger than yours. It's just my word against yours. But it is certain that the number of men who complain only proves that they have something to complain about, it is not indicative of the reason they have something to complain about. Since that hasn't been my experience, I think it has something to do with what men are doing to attract women that would make the first move rather than women who make the first move being in short supply.…

I don't doubt that it's a minority, I'm saying that there is absolutely enough women out there that make the first move that you have definitely come across them (they just didn't make the move on you). The problem with the anecdotal evidence you're suggesting is that it's not a solid argument for "they aren't around". For everyone experiencing a lack of women approaching them, their experience only proves that they are not being approached. It does not prove definitively that there is a severe …

Replied to a similar comment above. TLDR; Enough women that make the first move exist that you absolutely have come into contact with them, and if you actively pursued them you could find them. If they're not pursuing you, it is not because they do not exist or can't be found. I do elaborate a little more in the other comment, but I'm on mobile and can't be bothered to type it out again.

Then why would you think they're not also teaching girls to defend themselves and other girls to speak out? That was literally in the comment I replied to.

Plenty means plenty. There are definitely enough women out there pursuing men first to where you have most certainly come in contact with them. I would never claim that it is the majority, or that you should expect most women to pursue first. I'm saying there's enough that if you made an effort to seek out those women, you would come across them. In other words, if you want women who will pursue first, but can't attract them yourselves, it is not because they don't exist or you can never find an…

Plenty of women say no, I don't get how you're only approaching women that can't speak up. Sounds like more of a personal problem to me.

Plenty of women make the first move, if none are doing it to you, then that's you're problem not theirs.

1 is right. If you do this, only shit people will call you a pussy. You'll still get laid by plenty of women who're actively engaging with you. If all the women you're approaching are "dead fishing" it all the way through, then you need to work on some general social awareness. 2 is something mostly shitty dudes tell other dudes. I'm sure some shitty women do it too, but it's not the majority like you're suggesting. I agree this is shitty and should stop. 3 I literally don't see the problem. WGA…

In those campaigns in South Africa you're taking about, they also teach the boys to speak up, and also teach them about consent. The way their approaching the problem in South Africa isn't a boy vs girl situation, this is a boy and girl vs the problem situation. That's how the case should be here.

Sort of my point exactly, right? Not everyone is equally anti feminist as anyone else. And not everyone is equally into feminist ideology than everyone else. Most people are somewhere in the middle unless explicitly stated. Blanket terms like RP and BP are inherently polarizing to an unrealistic degree.

Well I must have missed that, all I remember is that they weren't into RP. And "sounding" like a feminist still does not make one a feminist. Why doesn't he just outright say he is BP rather than delving into detail about his personal ideology and situation? I think it's more likely to assume that it is because his ideology is more nuanced than just "I am BP". I explain it more fully in my other comment, but I stand by my critique that identity politics is far too polarizing and unrealistic for …

Yes I understand what blue pill is. I'm not redefining blue pill. I'm critiquing your projection of an ideology onto another person by explaining how people actually identify with ideology in reality. You're the one reducing BP ideology to: -not identifying with RP and -sounding like a feminist I'm saying that is not enough information to assume they are BP. By your words, BP is anti RP. Not identifying with RP and sounding like a feminist does not automatically equal being BP.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/18 08:44 PM

Still, I feel like you're oversimplifying. Ideology is more nuanced than just a "you're with us or against us" mentality. Hence, all the different ways people of the same religion may practice them or people with similar beliefs may disagree with how to implement them. An absolute adherence to an ideology is more akin to how cults work rather than how most people identify with ideology. Problems present themselves uniquely from individual to individual, therefore different aspects of ideologies …

I get that, but not identifying with RP doesn't make you anti-RP.

I feel like you're making too far of a reach to suggest that just because they reject RP ideology they must be BP. Ideology manifests on a spectrum, not in neat boxes with clear divisions. Real life isn't as polarizing as you're making it out to be. Maybe they do identify with BP, but I'd only make that assumption if they specifically say so. Having said that, I think that either a general attitude of self loathing or some other imbalance does seem to be the crucial variable imo. Why do people n…

Sounds like you're describing new immigrants. Whether or not one retains more of their culture or has more fully assimilated into the host culture has more to do with how long they or their family has been there. Certain cultures may seem like they have a harder time assimilating than others because there are some cultures that have only started to migrate here relatively recently. You're bound to encounter more people who are less assimilated with these cultural backgrounds. Whereas cultures th…

I'm not quite sure what you mean by dialing back the rhetoric. There will always be opposition to ideas that challenge societal norms. I agree that these communities are a reaction to these ideas, but I don't necessarily believe one way or the other about the fate of these communities. They have as much right to say their piece as I do to criticize them and vice versa. I don't see the benefit from either side holding their punches so to speak.

I reject the premise that TRP and the manosphere are puny, insignificant, and uninfluential. The fact that these communities are active and growing are an antithesis to that. The people in these communities don't just exist on these subreddits, they are everywhere. They are students, parents, teachers, in positions of power, your friends, or your family. The people in your life that would believe in and say these things include the people who identify with these communities. Seems like an arbitr…

Relationships can work the way you were saying, and there are those that don't. Good relationships are neither healthy all the time or volatile all the time. To say that all relationships are volatile is a gross oversimplification of human interaction. All relationships have ups and downs. In my experience, the most important thing you can do to foster a sustainable relationship is being on the same page and managing your expectations with reality. You can attribute most (if not all) relationshi…
