I also lean towards them going to court and stuff but i think the compensation is fair. Thanks for responding about this topic too me!! It's really nice to hear about everyone's sides especially in a respectful non rude manner! It's a really serious topic and it's not a subreddit I usually go on so it was really interesting to see things from another side! It's an awful thing to have to see the person who abused you, but same with people for many other crimes where I'm sure the accused also doesn't want to see the defendant. I think it's absolutely disgusting to accuse someone of sexual assault and should be a crime, but there is the latter to think about. In a case that someone was actually assaulted they could be too scared to testify and take them to court in fear of losing the case and subsequently being jailed, or the abuser could trick manipulate them etc, etc. It's a fine line to cross and a scary one.
