It absolutely sounds ridiculous. I've just asked 20 Japanese nationals that I'm in a group chat with. All that replied said that it is not accepted and is very frowned upon. I've been here a while, and that's completely true. That video you linked does not focus on everyday attitudes to it and instead focuses on extreme cases. Japanese don't cheat any more than westerners. And it's definitely not acceptable here. Don't know how you could think that from a video. Yes, Japan has 'cultural oddities…

Dude the shortest thing about you is your self-belief and respect. Height is nothing in this regard.
