Don't compare yourself to other people. For life to get better, you need to celebrate when you make progress in comparison to where you started. Otherwise you'll never have the motivation to improve at anything. ​ That might sound like a load of crap, but I can assure you that all the things you mentioned are skills you can learn and practice. I feel like most people don’t really think about how to give useful advice. For advice to be useful it has to be specific and actionable. “Be yourself” is not only vague, but can often be heard as “do nothing”, which seems like a pretty crappy strategy for improving yourself.

Sounds like you did a great job, especially for your first time. Conventional wisdom here is that you should never set things up so that you have to wait for the girl to take the initiative. No selfies. Get your friends to take flattering pictures of you. Pictures of you doing cool shit. Pictures of you with a dog. Pictures that show the “good side” of your face. Group photos can be good to show you have friends, but make sure to put it later in the lineup. Avoid sunglasses and fish pictures. Try to look happy. Smile. If you can get someone to take pictures of you with something higher quality than an iPhone camera you’re already way ahead of the competition.

Appreciate it anyway. I'm pretty fed up with Tinder. I feel like the matching system/text interactions really impede my ability to learn how to interact with girls. In my experience making a new account does not inherently decrease "ELO" or hurt your match rate. I recently remade my tinder and saw the same match rate and trends as on my previous account.
