If someone's actions flow from personal philosophy then that is virtue no matter how you spin it, even if the outcomes are unsavory. I agree that outcomes and the state of a person are tied into their worth though. I do think that people can hold values that they don't live according to. Everyone values health, yet fat people exist, for example.

Intelligence and having interest in the world around you are two different things imo. People often conflate the two because it's easy to stand on the shoulders of giants and appear intelligent. Forgetting your wallet isn't a sign of low intelligence. Intelligence is the ability to find the truth of things.
