why is it that men have worked harder, been the soldiers, been the providers, the hunters, the builders, the explorers, the leaders, the patriarchs etc. ? I think "worked harder" is the wrong way of looking at it. Women can and will work just as hard as men, the key difference is that men have far higher risk tolerance and therefore tend to net both the largest accomplishments and the largest failures. This is a biological fact. I'm inclined to believe that the majority of male / female behavior…

There are a number of pieces of information, that need to be viewed within proper context in order to understand the rate of false rape allegations. # of rapes reported to law enforcement # of reported rapes that are provably false at time of report or before trial. (The accused was in a different state at the time, the accused is completely imaginary) # of reported rapes recanted (A recanted accusation is not a false accusation) # of reports with insufficient evidence to go to trial # of report…

Yeah, it's got it's flaws, but I've been thinking about this a lot. The thing that really got me thinking about it was an argument on whether or not a woman should be required to get the father's permission before getting an abortion.

Honestly I think this is one area where the differences between men and women are so different that "equality" in reproductive rights is not possible. That's not to say that there currently are no issues with reproductive rights but it feels like reproductive rights will almost always rest with one person out of the threesome, man, woman, child. Women need ways in which they can better control when they reproduce, these can be accomplished through abstinence (yeah right), birth control, and abor…

I think that there are a number of reasons, some of them have to do with Men's Rights, some do not. As much as we like to lump feminism into a single monolithic cult, there are different denominations. Each of these denominations can apply slightly different motivations to the same idea. Jealousy, it's a way that feminists are allowed to slut shame without it being called slut shaming. Women use slut shaming as a way to enforce their own high sexual market value. Most men are heterosexual, most …

From what I understand male nurses tend to be paid higher than female nurses at hospitals. However, I also understand that male nurses have additional responsibilities that female nurses do not, such as responding to violent patients and doing heavy lifting.

I just want to point out that there really is not enough evidence at hand to make any sort of reasonable judgment. From his side of the story it sounds like he did in fact gain "affirmative consent", by way of asking multiple times if she was "ok" with what was going on. The questionable part is where she says "I have to go" and then he initiates making out. "I have to go" can mean anything from "I want to get the fuck out of here" to "I should get going but don't really want to". It sounds like…

Sorry for the top comment hi-jack, but I found some more information that I don't think anyone else has posted yet. I'm fairly certain that the OP is not "green" in the picture. The picture was first linked on /r/trashy 4 days ago here /u/Benanov, the guy who posted this on /r/trashy claims that this was seen on his wife's facebook page. "Green" is one of his wife's friends. /u/Benanov believes that the whole ordeal is due to cheating or attempted cheating. His evidence is here Yesterday at 4:16…

This x1000. Whenever I hear someone complain that they are being singled out and harassed in games I try to explain that this is something every gamer experiences. Most of the time I'm brushed off as "mansplaining" or "discrediting a woman's experience". What's funny is that I've noticed things actually tend to get toned down slightly whenever a girl is involved. I've actually talked with several female WoW players who never once experienced trash talk or harassment while playing....

Yeah that makes a lot of sense to me. I don't think that it is necessarily a bad thing to want external validation or encouragement, but I think there are reasonable levels and that it is important to be able to go long stretches without them. I have started to provide more external validation and encouragement than before I knew about this issue. It's not exactly something that is difficult for me to do or that takes a lot of effort on my part and if it can help some of my female coworkers then…

Yes, from what I have observed, overheard, and been told while working at a very large scientific institute. I have heard from several different sources that our female coworkers somewhat consider the work environment to be "hostile", primarily because there is not a whole lot of positive reinforcement and positive encouragement. Basically everyone is expected to do their job, and when you do your job that's it, no cake, no awards, no congratulations, not really even so much as a "good job". The…

We judge human beings on their physical and observable qualities. This is something that I think that so many people tend to overlook. As human beings our best and most advanced sense is sight. Something like 60% of our brain is dedicated involved in vision or vision related functions, so it makes sense that visually observable qualities play a massive role in our decision making process.

I'm not sure why you are being downvoted, you bring up a decent point, I think it is indeed a little unfair to the father. However, I think that in cases such as this, where the roles that men and women play are so asymmetric, there is no such thing as equality, and one party is going to be treated unfairly. I think that in this situation it is much easier, less devastating, to treat the father unfairly and let the mother have full control. I think similar logic follows for how we deal with rape…

I had a very large debate concerning this with one of my friends on FB the other day. What worried me the most is that she is a very intelligent Nuclear Engineering PHD candidate and she still simply responded with the same old standard feminist arguments. It was like she could not comprehend anything that I said. She thought I was trying to discredit a female scientist when I brought up Luce Irigaray's whole E=mc2 is "sexed" bullshit... She also claimed that I knew nothing about feminism when I…

Every news agency and blogger on the internet is talking about the comet landing. It's big news, but not particularly emotionally charged and thus will be old and boring news in a day or two. If you sprinkle it with a little bit of sexism or racism you can emotionally charge the whole thing and get a series of stories on casual sexism in STEM that will keep on giving for months to come.

Holy crap, I thought you were exaggerating at first but I think you ended up understating how hypocritical this guy is. Jesus, they answered his question like 20 times, they just never gave the answer he wanted and eventually he just descended to interrupting them and calling them children... I seriously don't understand how anyone can take this guy seriously...

I think this comes from men being more aggressive and ambitious in their career, as well as placing a higher value on money over free time. Another possible explanation is that married men will try to negotiate for a higher salary to provide for their families. Married men tend to make much more than married women, and I think this goes back to the social convention that the man provides for the family and the woman's income is not a necessity. This is closely coupled to the higher value that wo…

I believe that there are some characteristics which occur as a bi-modal distribution among men, which makes differences at the top and bottom even more dramatic. I feel like that chart and differences in Testosterone / Estrogen can explain the majority of the gender disparities in STEM, high-end corporate positions, extreme sports, small wage-gap differences, violent crimes, etc. There are fundamental biological differences between the sexes that have profound mental and physical effects.

Agreed, I didn't discover this sub until a few months ago, but I had started to piece together RP theory about a year ago. Once I realized that 99% of women are completely full of shit when they say all they want is a "nice guy". Hell even close, platonic female friends that I had no interest in whatsoever would tell me that there almost every girl wants to be with a "nice guy" like me. The epiphany came once I grew tired of the bull shit that is online dating and decided to dedicate myself to i…

you don't get PTSD after fucking a guy and deciding later on you probably shouldn't have I don't doubt that she was traumatized, but the only person responsible for her trauma is herself. When a person reaches the levels of intoxication that both of them were at they basically lose all inhibitions and will start acting on their deepest, most suppressed desires. She says that she never would have done what she did while sober, but apparently there is something in her that had strong sexual urges.…

I think we could probably just give it to every guy entering high school, make it a mandatory "vaccination". Most people will be too lazy to have it removed for the 10 years, so you instantly jack up the minimum age of fatherhood to 24+. I actually think that this would be insanely popular among all young men. If you advertise "10-years of care-free sex for 15 minute visit" you will probably have hordes of men showing up.

There are some huge differences between what makes a man desirable to women and what makes a woman desirable to men. Some of these come from evolution, some from social norms, some from personal preference. Promiscuity: I think we can all agree that it is much more difficult for men to find sexual partners than it is for women. When a man has multiple partners it is an indication that there is something in him that multiple women find desirable. It indicates that he has good genes. Being a promi…

I agree completely. I think this is the point where I and most people would have walked away. I'm not trying to excuse his behaviour so much as add context. It seems a lot of people are conflating this with some deadbeat asshole beating his wife. I don't think this is acceptable but I don't think it is as terrible as some make it out to be.

Without any dialog it is hard to tell who exactly is the aggressor and who isn't at the end. But frankly it looks like she was the aggressor all the way until the end. She slaps him outside the elevator, he takes it. She hits him again in the elevator, I can't tell if he hits her back immediately or is just trying to deflect a blow. He backs away from her into the corner of the elevator. He is trying to retreat. Speculation: This is likely Rice trying to restrain himself and avoid losing his tem…

The 1 out of 5 statistic is false. A) it pertained to sexual assault, not rape, B) it was constructed from survey results that asked very broad questions like "have you ever had sex while drunk", a "yes" to this question would be a "yes" to being sexually assaulted. There was also a study that determined 50% or more of rape accusations made to police were immediately demonstrably false. This is supported by anecdotal reports from persons in law enforcement. I've heard that the majority of sexual…

What I find interesting is that had the night in question gone like she had planned, casual sex while she was sober and he was drunk, then by most "progressive" definitions of rape and consent, she would have been the rapist and he the victim. However, if her story is remotely true, and he forcibly penetrated her when she didn't want it then he is at fault. I'm not sure how he both pinned her hands behind her head, pressed her legs to her chest, and got everything lined up with only two hands. I…

I do not doubt in the least that they have received threats including death, rape, mutilation, etc from people online. When it comes to online gaming, everyone receives these kinds of threats. Sometimes they are from butt hurt children who lost a game, sometimes in jest, and sometimes from trolls just trying to get in your head. This is not an exclusively female problem, nor do I honestly believe that women are more often on the receiving end of these threats than men. I think that the women who…

I came from a very similar situation. My step dad raised me since I was 2, and now I'm 25. I never knew my biological father and never really have wanted to know him. They got married around the time I was 2.5 and had 4 more kids together. He adopted me when I was 7, and I was even given the choice of what name to take and if I even wanted to be adopted. Aside from child #3 we have been a fairly functional family. I went to MIT, my sister to BYU, (middle child is in jail...), and the other two a…

This has always been one of my biggest "WTF" issues with feminism. I understand not wanting to be sexually harassed or assaulted in public. Getting groped, grabbed, or having some dude jack off in front of you on the subway sucks. If this were to happen to me I would probably hit the perpetrator or call for help. This video does nothing but attempt to put men as a whole down, or make people feel sorry for all women. There will always be assholes, creeps, and generally disgusting human beings out…

Agreed, I, and a large number of my friends are both physically active and play video games. I personally do a lot of climbing (rock/snow/ice/mixed) and mountaineering. Nearly every day when I get off of work I go climbing or run laps up and down the local ski hill. When it gets too dark for outdoor activities I go inside and play WoW or other games. Most people, irregardless of gender, play video games because they thoroughly enjoy that activity more than other activities, and within this set t…
