Kinda feels like you didn't really read my message. Not everything is about sex. I don't mean to be rude - but that version of success is sad.

Right. If you want a crap relationship / dateship / whatever-ship. Like - if your aim is just to play a numbers game, go right ahead. Women do this same stuff - meditate, social skills etc. Makes life more worth living. Obviously if you're a guy who just wants to fuck (and fuck with anyone) and views the entire thing as a 'game' (rather than improving social skills and stuff with the opposite sex) - yeh, than it's just meaningless. Women as objects, eh?

Dude, calm yourself. With this attitude you're perpetuating the idea 'men always want and women always withold'. That's alright in simplistic interactions (talking for 5 minutes to a random guy) - doesn't always work like that, and if you want something genuine you gotta practice being yourself and being happy approaching people. If I just wanted a number, yeh, that wouldn't be hard. But as I'm sure you know, there's kinda more to it than that.

That's true. I'm not sure if this is what you mean - but going off the wave of some comments here - it sounds like a lot of people think 'gosh it's easy for a girl'. Essentially - guys are always yes and girls are always no. I mean...as a very general guidelines you could perhaps work with this. But it's not really that easy for girls to approach and make something happen with a guy they like. You still feel the same power play - the guy essentially knowing they're wanted, or having a 'pick' of …

I agree - I personally don't really care about the guy's job (this guy started talking about his job and I got quite bored). But I think it's different for every person - I've had quite a difficult relationship with the world of work and have always disliked it - so when I hear someone talk excitedly about a 'good job' sitting behind a computer I just think...really? It's all about being genuine. Large social circle - well, I wouldn't say it has to be large - but having a social circle of your o…

Haha, no I agree! But I (and most women I know) do this to the extreme because it's become the norm. When I'm interested in a guy I also don't make eye contact - it's become second nature. Because you don't know how to assert yourself and you expect the guy to just... I don't know... spot you and find you? And if he doesn't you should just leave it? Means most people don't bother talking to one another.

Glad I could be of help! Enjoy being yourself and the rest is good.

I think it's something that comes with being happier with yourself :) As far as I can tell there's no real way to 'flirt' - I think you just become more giddy or excitable around someone when you're interested in them. And maybe a few teasing jokes. You can probably practice that even with friends - no pressure to 'flirt', 'cos when you get down to the basics a lot of this can happen in other kinds of social contexts.

You sound like you're very self-aware, which is a good thing! Although a self-improvement project never goes a-miss just make sure you're not being too harsh on yourself. Being flirty and expressing your sexuality are important - I imagine this will likely follow on nicely once you've built confidence and are more 'fluid' in interactions. I'm female so I guess I'm coming from a different perspective (I don't find I generally have to express my sexuality, not initially anyway). But confidence jus…

Hi there! It sounds like you're very goal orientated and it sounds like that is, of course, quite overwhelming. If I thought to myself 'I've got to be a super interesting person and follow all these rules to get there' of course I'd be like GAH. I've not read this 'Models' but it sounds like some of the advice (find a list of 'great' books to read) is quite generic and not particularly personal to you. I'd focus on just finding things you're interested in. Honestly, I'm a book type and I've hung…

Yeh I do, cheers. I also know about stocks and bonds! And I'm not 30 yet. Geez, maybe I need a pat on the head? Mate your argument is 'women do loadsa shopping and thing' and that women have monopolised banality? How reductive. I'm checking out of this conversation. You have a general dislike for women. Having a dislike for a group of people but backing it with spurious 'theory' isn't much else but that. But no hard feelings - it was fun debating.

That argument that women make about their sexual past? Men make it too, for real. Also do you recognise there's a strong argument that marriage/monogomy/poor divorce rights has been set up for the benefit of men? I don't think my life is a 1950s American dream commercial. I have an ethnic background and I'm in an english-speaking country that isn't America. I'm not saying 'don't look at history at all' - I'm saying recognise your tunnel vision and engage with different ideas. It's hard to stand …

Positions of power for men also come from abundance. In third world countries (depending on which country) only certain men will gain access to power and/or wealth. For example, India has a stringent caste system that means a significant number of men are seen as 'inherently' inferior - in much the same way women are. If you're from a certain caste, you're not likely to get very far - and that's because of lack of opportunities, bias and discrimination against that group. Caste is the archetypal…

Oh wow. At that rate, most women have an experience of dating a variety of men. So does that, truly, mean all men are dogs? All men sociopaths? All men are abusive? Hmm... if you want to go down this road of reasoning it's less logical and more personal. I can get a bunch of girlfriends together and we can bitch about guys forever. That doesn't really inform my view of the genders, all that much. I understand that a lot of our behaviour is a result of nurture (there's plenty of research into thi…

I'm fully aware of my bias - hence why I said 'vice versa'. What I think is jarring, though, is that you sound like you dislike women. And there's a lot in a 'sound' when people are discussing topics. Let's replace sound with 'deduce' if that helps you. I deduce you dislike women because you compare them to children in quite a weak argument. In current society, adults (both male/female) have greater responsibilities and understanding of the world than children. I'm not going to pretend that you'…

Well - you've kind of hit the nail on the head there. The past isn't this 'special' thing that you've reified to put forward quite a spurious claim about the genders today. It's likely just based off your prejudice. No offence - but why not search 'cognitive bias' or 'confirmation bias'. You already have an idea how you'd like to see men/women - nothing I say will change your mind, I assume. Visa versa. But there's a lot to be said for your bitter tone and disdain for women. If you genuinely bel…

I feel so privileged to think that as a woman my worst fear is rape. Also - the point is that the people in positions of power are men. As shown by your statements.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
